  • the video seems quickened, not the original

  • So cool......and there is Coltrane playing sax

  • 3:38 hipsters, when it was extremely cool.

  • @Cacophony89

Hipster means they knew it BEFORE it was cool. Get you're facts right friend.

  • the footage of everyone standing bby, smoking, is pretty cool and gives you the kinda feel of comraderie that existed back then... Coltrane and Miles, McCoy Tyner, doesn't get any better

  • What a moment in time...Play the blues, gentlemen!

Miles was just so important...among other things.

What an incredible contrast between Miles and Coltrane....no denying either of them.

  • That was great!

  • Shite quality compared to the album version.

  • And now try to listen to dubstep. See the difference?? Because I just physically cannot listen to dubstem, beeing honest I can't even call this Music.

  • normally i'm iffy about jazz (parents ruined it for me) but i guess i'm not listening to the right kind cuz THIS IS THE SHIT! :D

  • video response:

    watch?v=EcEEfZBFrNw

  • wow. Coltrane´s solo is mindblowin !

  • Good Morning Gang! Need a touch of Miles to get the day started.

  • This song and this CD got me started on jazz... never looked back.

  • nothing wrong with liking anything... love both jazz and house...in fact both started as dance music right?

  • Dear visitors, i'm new in this genre, i'm a 27 year old guy. Just got really into jazz (and blues by the way) and guess what: i dont friggin care about house and techno music anymore...not a bit.

  • Miles is perfect here, at the top of his game. He is as intense as his music and you feel it. If you don't feel this you don't feel anything. This is what jazz is and why it will always be relevant, even after most folks don't get it. Which, of course, they should....

  • and why does miles davis keep getting compared to god...i mean hes alright but hes not miles davis!!

  • why does miles davis keep getting compared to lil wayne? there not even in the same genre!!!! gosh!!!!.........Idiot!!!!!!!!

  • I saw one of Miles last concerts in California before he die and it was Mega-phenomenal. I was lucky. And i know what you're saying about Miles Davis and comercialism . But i live in Taiwan now and being able to listen to him on line is a virtual delight

  • anyone know who the trombonists are?

  • The adverts pay for everything........so do you want to pay for a service thats free at the moment........another leftie clever dick.

  • @freddo1939 "leftie clever dick?" What the fuck are you talking about?

  • Three days off! Back to my stinkin gov job. Thank God Mr. Davis and company is here to get the day started right. Mr. Davis strait up, no creme.

  • Miles-as-always:just great. And all that "upset": So what!

  • That last phrase from Coltrane as he walks away from the mic...ahhhh

  • Funny. As Coltrane wails, Davis stands in the background having a smoke.

  • I don't think I'll ever get tired of this song.

  • I love Coltrane so much that I even enjoy watching him at 2:26 doing nothing, just holding his sax =) =) =) =)

  • I am appreciative to get to watch these music videos on the internet but I do not appreciate all the massive crap advertisements everywhere.

  • 11 dislikes! Might I suggest you 11 people type in Lil Wayne and get the hell away from Mr. Davis. It's obvious you don't know what the hell good music, scratch that, great music sounds like.

  • @5:57 , are the chords the pianist is playing from another song, like, possible a christmas carol?

it sounds like it to me. i was thinking that maybe this was filmed around christmastime and he threw it in there to make an allusion to the audience

  • Back in business! Good Afternoon Mr. Davis as the lengendary music continue.

  • Miles & John you guys have spoken to me in such a way that mankind cannot & never will be able to .... REST IN PEACE MY BEAUTIFUL MUSICAL BROTHERS!!

  • the bassist thinks in the last chord "so what!? im going to D Major" lol

This is a legend Tune... Masters.

  • This is probably the best version of So What I've ever heard

  • What in the hell is wrong with youtube this morning? So what is the first video I watch every morning and i'm getting nothing. I hate my stinking gov job and Miles always get me going. Something has to give.

  • haha funny major chord by the bass at the end haha

  • fuck vevo! davis is beyond this shit!

  • Hey, if you dig Miles (and who doesn't?), check out Jeremy Pelt's new record called "Soul". Jeremy plays a very nice trumpet and has a *lights-out* band behind him. How's that for "advertising"? LOL!

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis:

Must start the day off with Miles. Weekend went by too fast. The only way to get the week started right.

  • Arguing about a Miles Davis video on youtube is about as immature as it gets. How anyone can listen to this and have a negative emotion at the same time is beyond me. Please leave that crap at the door. Thank you. On another note, I love how Miles goes back and has a cigarette after his solo. You wouldn't see that on tv nowadays. Then again, you wouldn't see anything this cool on tv today. It was a completely different time. Jazz was more mainstream, IMHO.

  • amazing song. period.

  • BAH DAH.

  • gosh.. WOW....THIS IS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT!!!!............... then you see the shit electronic music of today on the right.. lil wayne.. david guetta.. fuk off mate loool

  • @MrSEASONSBEATS Listen And ID, Carl Cox, Lutzenkirchen, John Robert, Pantha du Prince, Monika Kruse, Kollektiv Turmstrasse...

  • one of the best jazz songs ever.

  • @cool you so correct Miles doesnt take shit like this!

  • RainyMood

  • Guys take it easy! The world is tought enough. Just relax and enjoy!

  • Clean pure good music... I learn to ignore everything else on this web site.. I recommend same to all others who enjoy a grace of music! :))

  • Around 4:27 is so dope.

  • Why the FUCK is Far East Movement next to my Miles Davis?! Not hating but Geezus!

  • ...and there were giants on the Earth in those days...

  • @chilcox Well put, Sir!

  • As I type this this video has 361,602 views.

    Skrillex has 40+ million,

Now I have nothing against skrillex but seriously WHAT THE FUCK

  • @iainnb times come and go, you need to accept that what you like doesn't necessarily mean everyone else will like it, universal acceptance of music is the key to auditory enlightenment (i have no idea what im talking about)

  • @iainnb Who is skrillex? does he make disposable music?

  • @iainnb this is brostep =)

  • face of Miles at 3:40 jaja

  • Musical perfection that stands the test of time........

  • Good Mornning Mr. Davis:

    Miles strait up, no water.

  • Chord changes....Priceless!!!

  • whos piano? herbie hancock?

  • Hey all I found this record in a local charity shop and in an attempt to broaden my musical horizons I bought it. I really like it but where do I go from here? What albums should someone trying to get into jazz get?

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis: Thank God this is the last Monday (Friday) of the week. Must start every morning with Miles.

  • Irony: Having to watch an ad about Rap music before you can listen to Miles Davis.

  • Miles would NOT have wanted all this fucking advertising plastered around his name. Advertise your fucking bullshit somewhere else you fucking corporate whores :(

  • Comment removed

  • @CoolFreeHardBop Advertising is a good thing, grow up hippie. Learn how the world works, if you don't like the ads then just close them, its not difficult you know.

  • @laserboy18 Hey laserboy18, I have a suggestion for you. I feel that you should go FUCK yourself AND the horse you rode in on. How about that? I can repeat this advice if you have trouble reading...

  • @CoolFreeHardBop

creating, and maintaining content is not free. youtube offers you a free service but you can be sure they have bills that need to be paid - if there were no ads on these videos, there wouldn't be videos here at all.

  • @filthywalrus -->yeah yeah yeah, advertising is "good", blah blah blah. Whatever, dude. If you like it, well that's fine for you. I do NOT like it and will continue to say so. Maybe I will create a free AND ad-free forum for people to use...

  • @laserboy18

Plus, if he had Firefox and Adblock Plus, he wouldn't have the 'problem' he's having right now :)

  • @CoolFreeHardBop Grow up you dont know what Miles Davis would want.

  • @lilmanb776 Good Lord man, haven't you ever heard of commas and punctuation? Can't you speak or write in complete sentences? Anyway, no, I don't know for sure what Miles Davis would want, and NEITHER do you! So...what? LOL!

  • @CoolFreeHardBop try to write a argument without hurt people, I read the last comments and all your answer doesn't have any content just bad words, what a shame for a Davis song.

  • @chulisilva OK, sorry if I harshed your buzz my man. I love Miles and I don't anyone to take advantage of his art. Can you dig that?

  • @CoolFreeHardBop Sorry if I in any way diminished your enjoyment of Miles...my temper got the best of me that day. Please enjoy this amazing music and the video too...these people are GENIUS personified.

  • @CoolFreeHardBop I decided to hit thumbs up 1000 times for this, even though it only records one.

  • @throatgorge2 I hear you. Miles was great, and then add J. Coltrane, "Mr. P. C." Paul Chambers on bass, Wynton Kelly or Bill Evans on piano, Cannonball Adderley and Jimmy Cobb on drums and you have the greatest Jazz record of all time.

  • @CoolFreeHardBop not to mention the terrible videos top of the sidebar

  • @Corruptedxxx I HEAR you. I almost threw up when I first saw all this shit around Miles...art like this only happens once or twice a century!

  • @CoolFreeHardBop Just go to full screen and the advertising disappears. So simple.

  • @vraydio THANK YOU!! I guess I need to bone up on my YouTube settings. This is awesome!

  • @vraydio Now if I could just git rid of this pixelated BS...

  • @CoolFreeHardBop I doubt he'd want some of his videos blocked in England. I'm not saying the English are all powerful or what not and deserve everything, but we do deserve the sweet jazztastic sounds.

  • @CoolFreeHardBop You LITERALLY have no idea what he would have wanted. If he was alive today it is very likely that he would support people putting ads on music videos to give the creative minds some credit. "corporate whores", honestly, how old are you? You must be out of the punk phase by now. Please for your own sake learn!

  • @TOMS1ESSON Oh, thanks for the advice, jerk-weed! Actually, I am just STARTING my punk phase, and I love to piss off motherfuckers like you! Yeah!!

  • @CoolFreeHardBop Why do you care about this?

Care more about the music....Legendary music...

  • @theboss2211ify I care about Miles Davis...do you?

  • 1:50 I'll just smoke my cigarette while I wait for Miles to finish up.

  • Crash!

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis: 3 days off and this is my cup of coffee to get started.

  • I don't know, maybe, just maybe there is something more perfect than this that I have not discovered yet...

  • so what

  • Some of the man talking: Hey, Miles, look how Trane shreds!

    Davis: ... So What?

  • *Only* 348,236 views? Kids these days don't know good music.

  • eleven stars

  • look at his throat!!!! its amazing

  • TheJazzzCritic approves of this film. Miles was a pioneer - breaking ground for a new way of playing jazz. And the rest of the guys fell right in - Paul Chambers (b) Wynton Kelly (p) Jimmy Cobb (d) & of course Trane (ts). This was just one of many smooth units Miles had & quite possibly the greatest.

  • @TheJazzzCritic...I love how the atmosphere is so relaxed and yet so on point...what year was this concert filmed and who is the host?

  • This is why Chris Bottii (and other) pays their respect before every concert. If this does'nt leave you in awe, might I suggest basket weaving.

  • And so, the metaphysical ecstasy begins at 0:51. Smooth, man, just smooth.

  • 0:47 swag

  • New York tune..Miles was the guy who knew that tune..

  • Good morning Mr. Davis: Made it to work today. Late!

  • I'm a hard core rocker i'm in a rock band. I play rock drum's and I still find this incredible.

  • With all due respect to all other muscians over the past 50 plus years, THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVERY WRITTEN, ARRANGED, AND PERFORMED!!!!!!!! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!

  • Ads load instantly in 720. Music needs 30 second buffer period to play in 360 p. Fuck It I'll just pirate the discography.

  • @StrayCubone so what?

  • @JoelT23 HA!!!!

  • @StrayCubone Hey, i highly reccomend you get google chrome and download ad blocker, i might have just saved your life :) haha

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis, made it to work today.

  • The master at his craft...My favorite jazz musician

  • @happygirl419 ridiculous groove Miles the best who ever blessed the jazz scene....

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis: The only way to get the day started right. Either this or a cup of coffee.

  • true badassery

  • Good Morning Mr. Davis:

Need my daily dose, was on vacation for 2 1/2 weeks and I need this to get my day going. Welcome to the V.A.!

  • @Sonicrega - @Dacsy, RE: piano player - Bill Evans is a white guy.

  • @eclecticmuzik Thank You

  • Can anyone tell me if this is what is called "Modal Music" ?

  • My love for MD is greater than my hate to VEVO so I'll like the video...

  • Who is the man who play the piano ?

  • @Dacsy

    Bill Evans, your welcome.

  • @Sonicrega Thank You

  • dont wanna get too technical...but i think i am right in saying that its a flugel horn...not a trumpet...hence the more mellow , cool sound. cant agree with you about the sax...its jc!..all a matter of personal taste me thinks!

  • i think the sound of trumpet is much better than the sax. sax is too soft , i love the sound od the trumpet , it has this sadness and crunch into it

  • @rshaghoolian1

sorry, i think i got that wrong...should have ket quiet... i dont think it is a flugel horn after all!

i am sure i read somewhere that Miles played flugelhorn on this...but on closer inspection..it a trumpet!..at the end of the day..its brilliant...and the tone is beautiful.sorry for trying to be a smart arse!

  • started playing this and my 13 year old brother said "how is this music?? there are no words/lyrics" this really pissed me off... i had nothing to say, i just facepalm and try my best not to break something.

  • @MetalHead480 nothing to be mad about, just a bit young and naive, give it time :P

  • Miles-Trane :bd !

  • This is real music.

  • Listening to Miles Davis in Miles Davis tribute headphones

  • Love it!

  • I meant to say popping not pooping by the way!

  • Coltrane's doing something incredible here. He's building structuctures with those scales. Its like a winding staircase. He says, say so what to this! Amazing. You can see them listening in the corner, something is really pooping off. He was onto something big here you see! Its more than painting coulours with music, you actually sculpt images in sound space. Jimi was on about the same thing, but he got lost in the LSD, if you can find that place sober its a real achievement.

  • Kind of Hate the comments of kids saying "im 6 yrs old and i listen to this, and that makes me awesome and cool". Guys, it's great you love this music, we all do, but looking for acceptance, recognition and feeding your ego from this is not the way to go. Just enjoy. Peace.

  • @dmtgallardo You got that right. If you want to be accepted for your own individuality, you don't need anyone to accept it but yourself. If you're listening to something just to stroke your own ego, then you've got to listen deeper. :)

  • @dmtgallardo I am 17 and i agree with you

  • @dmtgallardo You are right mate, I am 1 years old but I do not pretend - I feel it!

  • @dmtgallardo i agree

  • Hip hop and Jazz are my two favorite genre's. is that weird?

  • @iSnipeMoms no its fucking normal...

  • @xsolidx14 Good work. What is normal? Guess you're like God O.o

  • @iSnipeMoms An empty question!

  • I want to stick my peeper in miles davis' trumpet. Too far? so what

  • putain c'est bon !! surtout coltrane.

  • Badu....badu.....

  • fuck nickelback ads on this kind of music

  • Back at work at the V.A., they are getting on my last last nerve. Need a dose of Mr. Davis to get me going. Even thou I have the CD of this, the video brings me much joy.

  • This is what YouTube is for. You can't sleep so you turn to some old school jazz to indulge the ears with and nothing beats listening to Miles Davis even at 2.30am.

  • I'm 18 years old and this is amazing to me.

No I'm jk, I fucking hate these kinds of comments and their trashy.

Btw, this is meh. Just here for Musical Appreciation.

  • other than coltrane, who are the other musicians?

  • Good Morning Mr. Daivs: I need a hit!

  • I came here to listen to Miles Davis I don't wanna hear fucking Lady Gaga's commercial. At least advertise something that is kind of related to the music we come to listen to.

  • not gonna lie i was kinda distracted by the white guy in the background taking a drag from his cigarette at 1:43 lol

  • I am 300 million years old and I know every note in this and I can play solos very fast blah blah blah

  • My daily dose of Mr. Davis.

  • coltranes intro is pure beauty! god damn!

  • Tough day at the V.A., good afternoon Mr. Davis. I really need a dose!

  • Ah, Vevo! I was expecting Davis and Trane, but instead you hit me with and ad that had Lil' Wayne in it! I mean, I suppose it's OK because the service wouldn't be free otherwise. But just give me fair warning, the next time you try and pull something like that!

  • is there words...

  • Jazz used to be a slang name for marijuana, that is why they called it this.

  • Good Morining Mr. Davis!
