  • Well guess who has two thumbs and unnecessarily bought new brake pads...this guy...

  • Youtube must have tweaked something that broke something else. Lots of older videos now have the captions overlaying the video in one big clump, completely blocking the view.

  • @topgrain yeah how daft is that!? you can get rid of it by clicking the cc button at the bottom of the video though.

  • SWEET thanks man really help me out.

  • Well illustrated. Worked a treat.

    ★★★★★

  • cool i had to press so hard to stop and now its perfect i can power slide woow

  • Are the levers controlling the wrong brakes? Rights for the front isn't it?

  • @Mod1dot4 no, right is back left is front. THis is standard in all bikes

    thank you

    was help full

  • thanks a lot m8 my paper rounds are a lot safer now thnx

  • thnx man

  • great help

  • thnx man that helped a lot

  • that is my bike right there

  • better way loosen the barrel adjuster all the way pulling the cable tighter. then loosen the bake brake nut holding the cable. pull the cable so the brakes are keeping the wheel from spinning re tighten the bolt. then re tighten the barrel adjuster giving it more cable all the way in and spin the wheel it will be spot on.

  • @insanitylevel99 I'm not sure about that. That might make the brake a little to tight, for removal purposes. I would say the loosen barrell adjuster then tighten brake almost all the way. or just use a 4th hand and a 5mm haha

  • @insanitylevel99 genius tryied it and it works you should have a video. this one fucking sucks.

  • @mrsuperterd

    what of i'm a mechanic

  • very useful

  • Wow, i've been riding bikes for my whole life and fiddling and fixing, yet i never knew about the barrel adjuster thing!, guess that shows knowing the basics really really helps, i used to spend ages fiddling with the actual brake cable on the brake!

  • THANKS!!

  • how to tighten bike disc brakes

  • every time i pedal my bike the chains spins but the back wheel does not get going? help.

  • your freewheel or casette is done you need a new one or new hub

  • Your Brake pads are to tight or ur tire is deformed or it could be hitting the frame, flip your bike upside down and spin the pedals

  • Time for a new rim. Bearings are shot.

  • Thank a lot that helps

  • DUDE IM SOO FKING PISSED MY BARREL ADJUSTER SCREW IS HALF WAY OFFF IM GONNA KILL SOMEONE >:p

  • youre lucky i crashed the shit out of mine and the bad thing is that its the rear brakes

  • suks ass

  • wow i do it just like that and no one every showed me. and for BMX bikes with a gyro it depends where itds loose because it is two cables conected with the gyro but this sould tighten your brakes even with a gyro. no promisses i cant remember.

  • then you didn't do it right!!!

  • is it the same thing when dealing with a bmx whith gyro spin?

  • Couldn't be better explaind.. Thanks :D

  • Very helpful. thank you ...from Guam

  • @kurintonsanchez from Saipan

  • what about on drop brake levers? I just bought a bike from bikesdirect and everything's tightened but when I pull the levers nothing moves.

  • Is this the same for mechanical disk brakes? I have a bike with them, I'm just to lazy to walk to the garage and look.

  • what mech. disc break do u have?

  • DUDE BLINK! And shave plz

On behalf of our eyes jk

    Thanx it help

  • Awesome video series on bike tuning. Good job. I like the staight to the point and the close up shots. Very nice. Thanks a lot!

    ejp

  • on my bike the way the brakes r is like when i ride it slows the bike down then stop i hate that i want it to stop the tire like for it to scid , to stop the tire completly with out slowin down first can u help me with that thanx

  • then tighten the rear, like how it is shown in the video...

  • if tightening the brake levers doesn't work then your brake pads are probably worn out and need to be replaced. swissstop makes really good brake pads

  • What you describe is brake perfection. skidding is bad for your tires and for your safety, since you lose most traction when you do it. You might end up on your face. Assuming you want to skid the rear wheel (skidding the front is suicide), lean forward a bit. If that doesn't work just stop being whiny and tighten your brakes like he showed.

  • hey thanks a million mate!

  • Thanks for this, appreciated saved me from getting angry any more lol

  • awesome dude thx alot

  • i think my brakes are different I can't find anything to tight them with :-(

  • you probably only have to you 5mm allan key, wrench, or it has a quick release. if none of those three work, sorry i cant help you that much :(

  • thank you, they ok now

  • amazing this was exactly what i was looking for......... THANKS!!!!!!

  • omg thank you i got a new bike n da brakes were loose n now da bak is fixed i dont care bout da front tho

  • Thanks Mike, you really helped me out!! Good vid.

  • This works for cable disc brakes too.

With V brakes also check that both arms of the caliper move the same amount so the blocks hit the rim at the same time. If one moves more than the other you can adjust it very simply. There is a balance adjustment screw on each caliper arm. Find the arm that moves the lesser amount and give the screw a quarter turn clockwise. Re-test the brakes, and keep screwing(!) until they move the same amount.

  • thanks! great video! =)

  • can this work for disc brakes by any chance

  • Whoa... its Dwight Scrhute's brother from The Office. They should call this Scrhute Beets and Bikes.

  • thanks a lot

  • thanks dude, you just saved me some money! I always thought I needed to get some kinda impossible tension in the cable. It can be done even without pliers! Great! so easy!

  • So I got this part... but I'm not getting sufficient braking "power". They tighten but they don't squeeze the wheel enough. suggestions???

  • replace the rubbers

  • He forgot to run the barrel adjuster on the lever back down before adjusting the cable at the brake caliper.

  • I was thinking the same thing.
