  • Thanks for posting this! This particular "interval signal" with its beautiful melody has haunted me ever since I first heard it when listening to shortwave way back in 1973. When the announcer came on the air, it was a foreign language unknown to me. I have wondered for decades where that "interval signal" originated from, as I have not heard it on shortwave in recent times. Thanks to YouTube, I discovered the origin of this beautiful set of 14 notes (Radio Switzerland)! Mystery solved!

  • love the omd bit at the end .

  • I remember listening to the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation's broadcasts. However, in 1976, their 49 meter frequency conflicted with the VOA's Ukranian signal. When their show came on the air, I lost SBC's broadcast.

  • I loved SRI's jingle,it's sad it went the way of so many others...make the most of those SW broadcasters that remain, they wont be around for much longer,I suspect.

  • @numberstation Radio Sweden is next to go on 31st Oct 2010

  • I miss the early 80s. And, yes, I am aware that good music is always around and that that makes me sound old.

  • No there werent any messages after this callsign,it usually repeat looped itself five minutes before the start of the english language broadcasts of swiss radio international on shortwave which then gave details of frequencies they were broadcasting on and the start of the programme would immediately commence.

  • Odd,strange and wonderful.Would have been the perfect end for the original dazzle ships in my opinion.

  • True. It is actually the last track on the 2008 remastered version. I think I might buy that now, even though I have the original album, I love the sound of the bonus tracks.

  • I have heard this on Shortwave in the late70's and early 80's when I listened to Shortwave as a hobby!

  • Not surprising. I heard this and many others too as a child. They were hidden messages to spies around Europe usually with repeated numbers afterwards telling the spies what to do. Check out the Conet Project especially The Lincolshire Poacher. It's very eerie when you consider they we probably messages to kill other people.

  • That should have been on Dazzle Ships in 1983 - shame they left it off.

  • ive waited sooo long to hear this!!dazzle ships all over like dazzle ships strangley wonderful!

  • So strange. But, fits the Dazzle Ships cd just right.
