hey i am trying to put this camera onto my modular helmet for snowmobiling, any ideas how i can get it on or any acessories i could use to mount it. i tried using the rubber strap provided but it was too small.
i had one of these. i hated it as a helmet cam, because it always got a wave to it, the video quality wasn't that great, and sound was just horrible, ESPECIALLY in the wind. i did strap it to my paintball gun though, and that seemed to be made perfectly for it. no wind, it fit like a glove, VERY durable, i recommend it as more of a gun cam than helmet cam. too much movement on a helmet.
well i should have mentioned that i ride a dirt bike. going on trails there is nowhere but your head to keep still. tell you what though, about a month ago i found a GoPro Hero helmet cam laying on a trail in big bear, CA. it's about a $170 camera, totally waterproof to 100 feet (in its protective case), sound quality is amazing even in the protective case, and it takes video like you wouldn't believe for something its size. it's only large enough for 2 AAA batteries and they last for 2 hours.
if you get lithium they last for 3 hours, and it can hold an SD card up to 2 gb, unless you don't mind starting another video every 40 minutes, which is easy considering it only has 2 buttons, easily accessed without looking. in that case you can op for at least an 8gb card (biggest i have). i love the camera and plan on saving up for another one. it's shaped like a regular camera and even has a little viewfinder, has a nice wide angle, and is about 1 3/4" wide and 1" tall. 3/4" thick.
I loved my atc2k, till I got a FLIP Ultra(no wobble). The flip is SO much better for picture/sound quality and user ease. Only advantages of ATC2K is underwater usage and interchangable disc. But if the best picture and sound*by FAR!!!) is what you really want...go with the flip. the 30 min Flip ultra can be had for right about the same cost as the ATC2k and is absolutely a better camera and deal. I can say so because I have BOTH(my flip is the 60 minute version..about $130.00)
Bit harsh given the limitations of the unit. The technology will get a lot better within a couple of years. You have to remember the lense is about 5mm across and the sensor not much bigger. :-)
I want to buy one. The quality is not so bad, but I see some "flag" effects. What resolution have you used to record this clip? Have you mounted the camera on the helmet?
No, i got one for my birthday to use for paintball and the quality is very bad. it is super sensitive to vibrations and changing light levels, and the sound is upmost the worst thing you have ever heard from a camera. and you cannot use it inside... peroid
your much better off getting a memory stick for a video camera phone and using that because its actually better quality.
In my opinion, yes but no. Yes because its extreamly tough and it can actually be used underwater upto 10 feet, which is a plus. It has VGA picture quality which is good, but not great. It has fair shock absorbation, but not great. Also no because the sound is awful, even with the cap off. Kinda goes both ways but overall I would recommend it. Just depends what your gonna use it for.

Achtung die Lenkerhalterung passt nicht bei jedem Motorrad und Fahrrad!
Ich musste die (und jetzt bitte nicht lachen) mit Klopapier verstärken damit die fest sizt.

but for the price, the camera is very good.

you can attach to other places on yout bike with less vibrations. that will do better. Sound quality is still poor.
I also got this one, it's a cheap camera. you get what you pay for.

It's called "macro blocking". And to be honest, given the size and price of the camera the quality is great looking.
Don't expect HD quality in a $80 camera that's the size of a red dot sight.
DaedalEVE 4 years ago
but you can get hd cameras that are almost as small and not much more to buy, i saw them on qvc

its called the Aiptek AHD200.. like a small camcorder, very thin with a screen.. much better idea

Their quality is seriously suspect. Don't believe image quality examples from TV. It's often simulated.
