Awww! I remember the constant effort it to ok to try and keep my hair going upward. Blow-drying upside down, gelling and then later, waxing it..........it took ages.........but when it went well it was sooooo good. I loved it!
Now my friennds are like, 'eew, those hairstylees aree nastyy shit -.-" In like 2O yeears, our children are gonna say the SAME THING abouut todays hairstylees. "/
As a kid growing up in the late 80's, I must say I really loved the big thick long curly fly-away hair (which was still popular in the early 90's.) That said, I do remember these girls getting hairstyles that even I questioned as a very young age - and I call them "helmet hair" Anyone know what I'm talking about? lol
Glad to see that full eyebrows are making a comeback! Too bad I plucked the crap out mine in the 90's, now they only grow back in patches :( Oh well, the silver lining is that now thanks to the evolution of beauty products we have truly great eyebrow pencils...lol
@mjdc2505 It would've been fun to include them here, although there's that 100min ode to the jerri curl that is "Coming to America", so I wouldn't worry about it being forgotten any time soon *lol
Gosh -- I do not know how many of these styles I sported back in the 80's -- short length, medium and long -- because we were always trying out new styles. It was so much fun to be different! And the clothes . . . FUN, FUN AND MORE FUN !
The blonde at 00:07 represents what girls really looked like in junior high & high school in the 80's. They looked like candy. Totally irresistible to boys.
@taylrrbby I don't know about the hair (volume is definitely in, but I wouldn't schedule an appointment for a poodle perm just yet), some of the makeup looks are big for fall, though not so much Cyndi Lauper, more like the Robert Palmer video girls (think "Addicted to love") inspired.
Fashionwise: I saw a pair of stirrup skinny pants/leggings at a Guess? store a couple of weeks ago...tragic, not the most flattering of looks for those of us "blessed" w/booty :(
i love the 1st one omg how can i do that hair style? but if i do it people will be taking the miky out of me and thats what i hate about these days is that you have to be so perfect to not be judged goshh!!! I LOVE THE 80S !!!
Well, since 80s are back now, maybe you can ask to your hairdresser if there is a similar style today ( the closest one ) Believe me, lately, i saw at least 3 of these styles in fashion again. And there's a big chance there's more to come. : )
@BAIBExV I cut my hair like Bon Jovi (2:20) last year and everybody told me I looked great.. even my hairdresser who is the type of woman that likes only what's fashionable!
So if you want an 80s hair style don't care about what other people say.. and if you won't look good.. who cares, it's just hair, they'll grow back again :-)
@BAIBExV ive had 3 80's hairstyles an no one judged me, people like to see unique people who look differant and dont follow the crowd. So you should be yourself and have what hair you want and wear what you want, :) its nice to have people talkin about my hair all the time, cos they no its differant.
I love the 80s no matter what anyone says! They were glamourous and full of creative expression. People are always talking about how tacky they were but I celebrate the freedom that were in styles of the time!
During the 1980s, I never had any of these typical 80s hairdos. I could never afford them. I could only afford the usual normal haircuts at the local barbershop. And even if I could have afforded it, I wouldnt have bothered because I really didnt care about going along with the stylish trends of the day. One time in the 80s the mother of one of my friends suggested that I get one of those feathered dos like my friend (her son), had and even offered to pay for it, but I turned her offer down.
i hated when i had my haircut, it looked liked the mushroom cut, one time i had my hair like at 1:47 but shoulder length, and sometimes my mom would puff my bangs too, soo weird
Who is the yummy mofo at 1:07??

I LOVE the 80's so much. I was born in 1989 but was cheated out of enjoying any of the 80's. It's a good thing that I love the 90's as well. (=
I recreated the Boy George hairstyle on myself and I love it! I plan on trying out some bright colors in my braids soon.

@corkydawl84 I'm a 90s kid, but I know what you mean by all of that. Helmet hair looks pretty if done right. I'd get one, but I like my hair.
Speaking of which, I have the big, thick, (sorta) long, curly, fly-away hair :D. It's surprisingly natural. My parents joke about my 80s hair a lot.

80's hairstyles are the best. So much volume and fun!
Unlike this decade of nothing but flat iron and silly little bumps
