@elo333333333 Lets see Joe had huge ego, slept with all his friends girls, and kicked his two best mates from his band, and became the exact same thing he hated. Hes not much better.
@Evge9 Ya know why he kicked Topper? Topper was on drugs, and Joe wouldn't have it. Mick and him had creative differences, it happens when you go NONE STOP in a band. Maybe he fucked his mates gals, those were the punk days. So saying he's not much better? Piss off, he's done more then you'll ever do. He admitted here that he kinda had blinders on. He sought to change that, to tell people that. People like you saying, he's doing what he hated. Yeah, we're human, he tried to change though.
i can still remember the day my dad phoned me from england crying, said he had bad news, that joe strummer died. thankfully, joe is still an inspiritation and his memorie will always be an inspiration for all the young punks in the world. without people you're nothing. this movie is beatiful.god bless
joe certainly had a way with words, "without people your nothing" is my favourite quote. i dont think joe had an opinion on how the world should be, i think he just spoke up for how it shouldnt be.
If you agree with Joe's Spiel then look up 'The Venus Project' a social system where 'people are everything.'
Now I realize Joe was a socialist, but socialism isn't the answer, yes it is more humane, however, it's a system which (John Lydon put very eloquently)
@ryansanutter I agree RYAN....I think it;s a shame punters went on to buy Gunned 'n' Roses when THE CLASH seized to exist...paupers became bourgeoises, Aristos danced the night away, Ricard and Courvoisier funded LIVE GIGS in stadiums...then everyone went to work on Monday...
It doesn't matter where I am or what I have to do, if I'm working or I'm at the hospital (I was!!), December 22 i always wear my The Clash t-shirt. Only one unknown person told me he knows why i was wearing that garment!! He was a doctor and he had the Joe's grafiti tatooed on his arm and the leyend "know your rights". Two years ago...no! Three!
I love this , It sounds like Joe is welling up spilling this out. Its a massive regret to me that i lived through "The Clash"and sadly never got into them in time to see them..
This just makes me thinks that the best things only last for a little while. Joe may be gone but what he stood for and his ideals have become a part of us. This man is my hero, thank you joe for everything.
you can feel the humanity in the mas voice, i try to live like him, uncompromising and questioning everything but also being human and admiting that fact RIP man
totally with you both,my childrens religon is strummerism,i love this man,i have learned more from one man than all my teachers put together, joe strummer is alive and well in my house.
This is in line with higher consciousness, with ancient wisdom. Pick up "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle or Native American wisdom or Buddhism...Joe got it from the dead end streets of London in the late 70's. Thanks Joe. RIP
RIP you legend! 9 years ago today..Joe you are missed.

If I ever come up with any amount of power or money, I will see to it that that billboard message finds its way to Time Square.

Why do all the true heroes have to die? Joe was one of mine, and still is, and always will be. But we need him now more than ever.

these exact words made me truely love him.
If there was a bit of him in each of us, the world would be a far better place than it is right now.
as naive as it sounds, he's my hero and always will be. RIP,JOE.
