Still better than the hilariously "deep" and "2 adult 4 U!" Young and the Restless in Space mess they shat out a few years ago. At least this version has a sense of humor...you know, like most humans do.
At 2:00 their taking their evidence of earth's capacity to fight the Cylons enemy, from just TV shows that's ridiculous. I mean why let the sub species on CBB or BB put them off from contacting us.
Don't they ealise that animals to have to have their own programmes as well?
Ya know, it is true that Washington would send out fighters to intercept the unidentified flying objects. My Dad used to work at the center for National Defense in Colorado and that was something that they were always prepared for. XD
I miss Sci-Fi when it was actually SCI-FI. But, I still watch SyFy today. Yes, I am one of those Sci-Fi Nerds... Always has been, probably always well be... I miss this stuff on Sci-Fi chnnel..BRING IT ALL BACK.. R.I.P. old sci-fi.
BAe Systems has just invented invisibility camouflage for armoured vehicles. So there you go, four-eyed Galactica nerd, not so primitive after all. Bring it on!
Ahhhh, the 80s, where our children of the future would find just how gay and homosexual their uncles were.... In the great depths of space!!!! Thank god they remade this show. Too bad it started well, and died with too many questions unanswered.
I reckon in atmo the national gaurds F15's would have toasted those things, They would have done it all BVR too, cylons wouldnt have even seen them comming lol.
We need the '' Great Ship, Galactica brought back. Not an imitation, not a Remake, not a Clone. But the Original Vessel, still out in Space wuth most if her Original Cres leading a New Generation of Human Travellers as they Fight to Survive and '' Explore the Human Condition.....''
ABC network execs ruined Battlestar the same way they ruined Twin Peaks -they forced Lynch and Frost to reveal the killer of Laura Palmer WAY EARLIER in the series than intended, (thus ruining the suspense/whole reason for the show.) With Battlestar, ABC did the same thing: killing it in its prime, and then bringing them to Earth WAY EARLY. ABC executives suffer from the mental equivalent of premature ejaculation disorder: great way to bring in new viewers. Kill all suspense! Good work.
The uber-annoying "Super-Scouts" were a shameless rip-off of the Bad-News Bears during their 10 seconds of fame. The two "heros" of the show who replaced Apollo and Starbuck were another rip-off of Bo and Luke Duke of the Duke's of Hazzard while I suppose the cylons represented the police-force of Hazzard County. All we needed was "the Little fat Buddy" Boss Hog choke'in back a chicken leg in the role of the Imperious Leader telling the cylons to "Arrest them Duke boys!" God who writes this shit?
So this fucking boy genius couldn't have warned Adama NOT TO LEAD THE CYLONS TO EARTH a teeny-weeny bit sooner than when the Galactica reached earth orbit? How genius is THAT?
@StevenShields29 LOL!! Right on bro. Dr. Z (sort for Dr. Zayus perhaps?) didn't get visible proof until they were in orbit where as Apollo and Starbuck got the Apollo moon landing video at the end of the previous series. What a genius.
Most Galactica Fans and even the original actors and Glen Larson himself concede that Galactica 1980 is not part of the "Official Canon" of TOS. The episode "The Return of Starbuck" was actually meant for the TOS Second Season and was to have involved the beings from The Ship of Lights. The adult Boxey character of Troy was used by Richard Hatch in his Galactica Spin-Off Novels. It's too bad TOS series is tied up in legalize, would love to see the much anticipated relaunch of TOS characters.
As much as it pains me to say, the 3 hour G1980 movie wasn't totally as bad as I remember. The series truly falls apart when they introduce the "Super Scouts". And, of course, Dr. Zee is throat-slitting bad. Both, of course, introduced because they wanted Galactica to be more "family oriented".
Undeniable proof that Galactica 1980 could have been good: the episode "Return of Lt. Starbuck".
Galactica 1980 was actually a spin off of Battlestar Galactica. The original show was popular, but cost ABC a grip to produce. SO they cancelled the show and brought it back, albeit at a cheaper cost. So they skipped the '79 season and brought it back for '80. It was horrible, ratings went in the toilet and it got cancelled. The original series format should have been the one they brought back. This was the first itme a letter writing capaign to save a show worked.
Hola queridos amigos me encanto esta mini-serie que en mi juventud veia en ella el futuro que me hubiera gustado vivir y acudo a ustedes por el audio en español latino, UN ABRASO ENORME GRACIAS!!!!!!
The conclusion that earth is not scientifically advanced enough is based on their observations of which would appear to be exclusively american TV shows and films. Go Battlestar! Great research department.
How did you get such a good reproduction of a VHS tape into digital format. The "PLAY" when the video starts gives it away. I am trying to digitise my entire library of VHS tapes, and I cannot get anything near that good.
1980 was a slap in the face to loyal Classic Series fans. Most do not even accept it as Battlestar Galactica. What a waste of time and money by Universal & Larson. WTF was Larson thinking, anyway?
I hate how in Dr. Z's presentation, how that us Earthlings didn't send any Jets to intercept the Cylons!!!!! We could have defended ourselves in the 80's and we could defend ourselves now!!! But BSG still FRAKKIN" AWESOME!!!
@berniegrungezalez76 what?!?! it took like 50 xwings and a highly modified merc cruiser to take down a big blob with sucky ass weapons! one single Colonial Viper could take down that thing!
@shstrang98 Not for that time. Maybe if this was 2100 we'd also find the movies from the 1st decade of 2000 quite stupid. This was a great success back then.
Yes this is a classic,, however, the new series is far more realistic in its use of real ordanance in place of "Lasers" etc. And its a far more gripping series too. LOVE EVERY incarnation of this series :o)
In my opinion, the new series seems to be to Battlestar Galactica what Star Trek XI is to Star Trek. I also wouldn't call "real" ordnance used, or seek realism in show that doesn't come close to regarding it's internal physics and tech as seriously as e.g. Babylon 5, not to mention Star Trek or Stargate. CGI is hell impressive, but storytelling - poor. As for fan, it turned out to be big dissapointment. Moore did better job at ST: DS9, which wasn't all that great either.
tengo un gran recuerdo de esta serie porque la vi cuando era muy chica. Me encantaría poder ver los capítulos en español, al menos subtitulados. Si alguien los tiene por favor.
this show is like Star Wars and Star Trek mixed! wow! there's a lot of movies/shows that are Si Fi with the word Star in it! STAR Wars. STAR Trek. BattleSTAR Galactica! XD
