  • Bravi. Bel tempo.

  • When you shed the ego and allow nature to do what it wants, sometimes incomprehensibly beautiful results can occur.

  • I'm so much in love with this at the moment! To hear music like this sung and played like this sort of makes the following few hundred years of music rather obsolete. Claudio said it all, and in the best way! (And the soprano is sooo cute. Not that it has anything to do with anything. Just thought I'd mention it. And Philippe is too, by the way.)

  • bitiful :))

  • Sono totalemnte innamorata di questo duo! Jaroussky é proprio straordinario!

    bravissimi!

  • do not listen to the singing voices, litsen to the orchestra - the orchestra is the most brilliant monteverdi-interpreter i heard in a lifetime. an i am not a teenager.

  • ROFL. "The castrate".

"The castrate" is a regular baritone in modal or speaking voice. He uses his headvoice to sing, like the soprano, whose speaking voice is also not as high as her singing voice.

This particular one is a rather high singer. Most headvoice singers are altos. This is a mezzo-soprano. He sings lower than she does.

  • It is not the castrates voice, nor rials voice, it is the orchestral performance!!

  • eccezionale

  • Ma quei tre a cui non piace...non capiscono niente di musica!!

  • at 3:10 Jaroussky sings with his chest voice!!!!

  • @rayuuhumizuki Jaroussky switches on the word "profonde" meaning "deep." This is an example of word painting, a particular obsession of mid16th-century composers (and beyond) in which they attempt to depict the literal meaning of the text through music. It's a very nice touch here, though added by the vocalist not the composer.
