@dumpfile AAAAAH Me too exactly! I havent heard this one for 17 years since late night PBS played it! They also ran the Bjork video for Human Behavior & back then I thought of it as the video were the little Indian boy gets eaten by a bear.. I got smarter eventually.
I went to a fish head and asked it advice while lying on a psychiatrist's couch, and wondered why I couldn't get any answers. Fish heads don't make very good doctors.
A girl I used to go to school with sung a "wrong" version of this song, and I'm like "WTF?" finally a few years later I hear the correct version and I like it. go figure. lol
Crazy that is Bill Paxton... the actual year was 1980... I was up late at the age of 12 when this aired on SNL... it's a nasty realization when you see a film (AND IT WAS A FILM) that was made during your lifetime and it looks so goddam old and grainy... granted it was a student film and prolly 16mm but still!
@SEANFIR I'm just sayin', it was never thought of as a student film since we were all like 26 at the time. Finished it and 2 weeks later it was on SNL.
if i am not mistaken billy mummy (william robinson, lost in space) played guitar on this track. he also played guitar on some of Americas albums in the early to mid 80"s
My mother sang this song to me when I was a child. I remember in third grade I tried out for the school musical and sang this song. All of the teachers were silent at the end of my performance. Needless to say I was not awarded the part, they didn't understand the greatness of this musical genius. I believe this was also the year I was determined to marry David Bowie. God I miss childhood. Awesome song.
Lmao shaycarl was singing this on his vid today. Glad I found the original. It's wierd how YouTube does it's rankings after search. This should be first
For those who remember and those who don't: ON THE MTV'S LAUNCH DATE (ca1980) THIS WAS THE SECOND VIDEO AIRED. THE VIDEO AIRED WAS "VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR"
@Schwagville so if you watched the first day of MTV are you sure this was the second video? i'm curious, what was the third/fourth/fifth/etc video? i'd love to see a copy of like the first couple hours of MTV.
@Schwagville uh no. The second video was "you better run" by Pat Benetar, followed by Rod Stewart and then The Who. The whole first day is on YouTube.
When I was a wee lad i would sing this with my mates standing in creeks angling for trout. One time I saw a rubber floating by so I flicked it with my fishing pole towards my friend Steven. It landed on his neck. He freaked out and dove in the creek. Those were the days.
I love this song. I heard it on turkey tv way back in the mid 80's. I haven't heard it since but I always find myself singing fish heads. The video is creepy and funny at the same time I'm mesmorized by it still. Thanks for posting it
I've got some fish heads in my freezer. Some crappie, some bluegills and I plan to throw them away... They do not taste all that good to be honest. except the eyes. fish feyes fish eyes rolly polly fish eyes, fish eyes fish eyes, eat them up *BARF*
This is so great to see in high quality! I'm so glad I found Fish Heads. It makes me want to see a Fish Heads Revisited type show. Thanks so much for posting!
