  • This and music like it take me back to a mellower, easier time in my life.

  • So pretty!

  • Thanks!!!

  • I'd call it romantic jazz!

  • No better way to hear Star Dust than to hear Mr.Mancini play it for me tonight. This is so lovely. So many recorded this beautiful song. Didn't know Mr.Mancini did too. I love it. Thanks.

  • wowo music at its heights...! !Where did all such music quality have tapered off in this generation?

  • This makes me smile =)

  • And now the purple dusk of twilight time

Steals across the meadows of my heart

High up in the sky the little stars climb

Always reminding me that we're apart

You wander down the lane and far away

Leaving me a song that will not die

Love is now the stardust of yesterday

The music of the years gone by

  • STARDUST - RIP

  • hoagie carmichael wrote this

  • Awesome

  • So soothing to the ears, wouldn't you say. I think Johnny Mathis did the greatest version of this song.

  • This Music always sounds good around Christmas

  • WONDERFUL SOUND ON YOUR VIDEO...I LOVE THIS SONG! THANKS FOR POSTING

  • Someone please tell me- the sign that is displayed during the first thirty seconds of the video, what is that sign for? I've seen it before!

  • @IchWerdeSterben111 it's the stardust hotel in las vegas

  • Ahhh. That man knew how to lay it all out. Texture. Color. Emotion...

    Thanks wald!

  • I think this song was written by Hoagy Carmichael, who isn't easy to categorise, but is broadly speaking jazz-influenced, night-club style.

  • I love all of Mancini's work, but it is quite varied. Could someone pin down this songs particular style/genre for me and suggest similar work, not necessarily by Mancini?

    Thanks in advance!

  • @Portboy look up music by James Last, Percy Faith, Ron Goodwin

  • @Portboy Also Neal Hefti, Alex North, Jerry Goldsmith, and John Williams. They were in that same era.

  • @Portboy I would also add the Jackie Gleason Orchestra to the list.

  • @Portboy

You will love Michael Buble's version of Stardust.

  • @Portboy Well Stardust wa was not written by Henry. It is a Hoagie Carmichael song.

  • @Portboy

you may call it soft jazz or easy listening. If you like this you will probably like these artists as well:

Sam Ocampo, Oscar Peterson, Michel Petruciani, Stephano Grapelli, Scott Hamilton

  • @Portboy Space Age Pop

  • @Portboy

    You would love

    Paul Mauriat

  • @Portboy try Ennio Morricone, of course...

    ;-)

  • Also remember that Stardust is not by Mancini, but by Glenn Miller...

    ;-)

  • @SergioBonf

The melody is by Hoagy Carmichael, lyrics Mitchell Parish. The Miller Orchestra recorded it in 1947 well after Miller's death. Every musician has covered it. It's up there with Body and Soul as the best and most recorded pop song. The best verision -- Nat King Cole's.

  • @Portboy try Hugo Montenero, Ennio Morricone, Franz Waxman,Nino Rota,Alex North.

  • I have been trying to find an arrangement by george melachrino and the melachrino strings but it seems to have disappeared. Nat King Cole does a great rendition.
