This song gives me the heebie-jeebies. Christian kids songs kinda crack me up. No offense to all you Christan-type people out there. Don't get me wrong... I love God and Jesus and stuff. I just can't stand corny goofy christian stuff. It makes me all freakin' stupid and I forget how to dance to the Boogie-Woogie jazz type Negroid boom chaka laka laka stuff. Oy fu cking vey!!! Can you understand where I am coming from?(besides the Pebbles and Bamm Bamm cartoons?)
There was a time, long ago, when you could mention God, the devil and say "bless you" when someone sneezed...all without retribution or fear of infringing on the 'rights' of a single individual. It was all possible due to simple 'mutual respect'. Yeah, long, long ago.
This song was written by Stuart Hamblen, who also wrote "This Ole House," "Remember Me (I'm the One Who Loves You)," "Unti Then, " and "It Is No Secret (What God Can Do)," the latter song influenced in part by his friend John Wayne.
While the Lancer's recording is probably the earliest recording, Roy Rogers and Dale Evans sang it on their TV show in the late1950s. Clooney sang it on "Your Hit Parade" that same decade.
@lhwbsw2000 I have an old record from the 1950's with the Roy Rogers version that I used to listen to as a child... that is what I was searching for when I ran across this.
It was written by Stuart Hamblen. It was in a Flintstones episode and where a lot of people remember hearing it. There are many artists with re-recordings.
I just sorted through all my mother's very old piano and organ music, and found her sheet music for Open Up Your Heart. It's dated 1953, and it features a photo of The Lancers on the front. I thought the title sounded familiar, so I sat down and played it on the piano. Brought back memories, though I don't recall how I first heard it--likely, my mom played and sang it for me. Still curious, I Googled The Lancers and found this lovely recording. Thank you so much!
let him in everyday!!!!!!!!!!

I sang this song many times as a child and taught it to my daughter, and now my grandchildren. Plan on teaching it at VBS next week.

When I was a little girl, my sisters and I got up in front of the Church and sang this song. I was really shy.

Thanks for posting. Never heard the Flinstone version but Cowboy Church version is far superior to this one by the Lancers.

Having only ever heard the version from The Flintstones ( Pebbles and Bamm Bamm ), I find this a good version, too.

I HAD this song on a record as a kid, featuring ROSEMARY CLOONEY singing with one of her sisters. Does anyone out
