I wish people would stop trying to deconstruct how/when he loads the cup with the balls/fruit... we ALL know how a chop cup works, it's not HOW it's done its the WAY he does it, and that's magic.
@heelfan1234 You have failed totally to appreciate lemondragon's experience of WOW. This performance is totally wow. The mechanics are irrelevant. I should like to see you be that good and entertaining and skillful in manipulation even given the most expensive chop-cup that money can buy! Magic isn't about tricking people, it's about entertaining and making people feel WOW. Spoiling tricks for others is just a bit lame and sad. Didn't you enjoy the routine?
@magictrickem Yes it is a great routine. I do the chop cup but not of course as well as this. The patter and the speed is pretty impressive in this routine. I still I entertain people with it a lot, though. I use a different climax with a large green ball and a yellow ball. My chop cup isn't that expensive. But it does have the magnet spun in, not like the cheap ones where it's under a metal disc stuck in. The most important thing is the balance in strength between magnet and ball in any case.
@magictrickem The mechanics are relavent. Such as the second phase where he uses the pocket flick to load the fruit at the end. It's a good device because it breaks with the traditional idea of "I'm just putting this ball away in my pocket idea". He's still putting his hand in his pocket to obtain a load, but a different excuse. He performs the fruit loads very skilfully without flashing here, but I saw him at a magic convention live two years back & he flashed both horrendously... old age sadly
@lemondragon18 There's only two balls. One in his pocket, one in the cup. The one in the cup is either displayed on his hand, or it attached to the magnet in the top of the cup (hidden). He loads the lemon from his left pocket at 1:30 (approx) and the orange from his right jacket pocket at 1:38 (approx). That is why he is flicking around with his right jacket pocket. It is an excuse for putting his hand in there to get hold of the orange so he can load it under the cup.
@heelfan1234 if the lemon was in his pocket there was no way he could have loaded it WITH HIS HAND STILL IN HIS POCKET!! plus there could not have been only 2 balls because he kept taking them out of the cup and puting them straight into his pocket PLUS how would he activate the magnet to drop the ball at the right time PLUS!! there was no way that big orange could have stayed in the cup when after he "loaded it" he TIPPED THE CUP UPSIDE DOWN OVER THE FLOOR!!! THE ORANGE WOULD BE ON THE FLOOR!!!
@lemondragon181:31 He takes his hand out of the pocket with the lemon in and then puts the Lemon in the cup at 1:32 as he puts the cup down.
The magnet is a permanent one but a weak one. He drops the ball in and it sticks at the top of the cup. He then PRETENDS to tip the ball into his hand and PRETENDS to put the ball in his pocket. When he puts the cup down gently, the ball stays stuck on the magnet. When he bumps it down a little harder the ball is dislodged and "appears" just when he wants
@heelfan1234 if he put the lemon in the cup when you say we should see it because he tips the cup twords up and a yellow lemon is easy to spot in a silver cup
@lemondragon18 No he doesn't. The lemon is in his hand and he immediately covers it with the cup. He doesn't flash the lemon, although I have actually seen him perform this live and he did flash the lemon quite badly, but then again he is over 70 years old now I think.

An incredible trick, regardless of the mechanics. And with a payoff, as Simon Munnery puts it, like visual music. LEMON.

@danmcdaid Do you think Simon Munnery has ever had sex? I think he is a virgin!

@lemondragon18 There is a magnet in the top of the cup which holds the ball up till he bumps the cup down hard and dislodges the ball.

@heelfan1234 so explain the multiple balls in the cup. not to mention the lemon and orange. hmmmmmmmm? magic!
