Best theme to the show. Nothing against the most popular version, but to me this one sounds like they put more time, effort and concern in making good music.
Sidney Sheldon was being playful in his scirpted introduction, 'Blaq'; NBC advised him, when preparing this title (seen from episode two through eight), to carefully point out that this series was a FANTASY, and that there was a reason Jeannie was living with her "master" under the same roof, without benefit of marriage [the network was initially quite nervous about Jeannie & Tony's realtionship}. So Sidney decided to take the "mythical" aspect to its furtherst absurdity...
Oh... I loved that intro!! Watching this in the 60s, black and white, in a tiny television... another times, no internet, much less information. But it was so wonderful. This series really seemed to be magical!! Unforgettable times!
This season one "recap" opening, narrated by Paul Frees, temporarily replaced the animated title in episodes two through eight; NBC wanted creator/producer Sidney Sheldon to assure viewers that the relationship between Jeannie and "Master" (including their living arrangement) was purely a "fantasy". Sheldon, irritated by the network's "nitpicking" over the series, insisted on [and got] the original title restored by episode nine...

"A mythical town in a mythical state called Florida..." I prefer to think of Florida as an urban legend!

I was there for the first episode and thereafter. "Jeannie" was about the eye soothing TV actress at the time!

Thanks / that really takes me back. The original intro was by far the best.
