You can't change the fundamental of what marriage is idea and definition came from the religious belief. This country is to protect both sides from slander and gay populous already had the rights but guess that was not enough. They tried to ruin someones belief which is protected by the constitution thus your a hypocrite. You say separation of sate and govt good but then you want govt to change someones religious belief shame. When rights orig passed they did not go through legal channels.

Since everyone has the right to freedom of speech, including the LDS church! The LDS church can say what they want about WHATEVER they want! Glad that's put to bed! Bigot! Hyporcrite! If you only knew what it was you were doing and could see clearly. I have 3 family members (step-family & a cousin)that are gay/lesbian and I voted YES to Prop 8 and I love them with all my heart.
I have family members who voted against my civil rights. They say they love me, yet they can't love me more than they love their own experience of God. This puts boundaries on their love and perception.
The fact of the matter is that you did, truly, make me and your own family members 2nd class citizens.

Yes the Mormons bid a "GREAT" job protecting children by letting their fathers have 10 wives! The Catholic churches did a "GREAT" job too by condemning birth control and contraception, which is why there are so many unwanted pregnancies in this world,and why abortion is necessary. The only punk and loser I see here is you! Prop 8 does not govern families or kids, it's only about marriage. No on 8!
It doesnt matter if it passes or not. It will just get over ruled by the U.S. Supreme Court. Just because some homophobes are worried about who there kid is going to marrie will not push it into law. Hell I want a slave, if all the voters in California pass a bill to have them, doesnt mean its going to happen.
These homophobes what to ban gay marriage because the bible says so. The bible also says Slavery is Ok, why aren't they fighting to have slavery legal?

There are religions that say nothing wrong about homosexuals and their religious leaders can marry same-sex couples.
What about their religious rights?

Actually it is NOT about Family at all. California's definition of marriage does not mention family AT ALL as being the reason for marriage.
