i remember asking rene lussier why he didn't played the rhythm guitar chords on 'true love' (remember the scene when they're playing guitar on the kitchen table, at the beginning??) He told me it was 'too difficult', same with several bass parts on some other material, specially from the 'gravity' album.
The first show of Step across the border was in 1989 in Berlin. I saw it first time in Moers, Germany, at the New Jazz Festival May 1990. Its funny... in this films are some unreleased scenes I guess it was made for Step Across the border as well. Funny 2: The DVD version does not include the title song.... I saw it only on the VHS version
@knubbl100 also, some canadian version i had didn't include a keep the dog rehearsal scene (they're apparently learning 'moeris dancing' and we can see zeena parkins talkinf to FF) it is the same on the DVD version. Why were these scenes left out???? I miss my old dubbed copy on VHS with the german subtitles...
yes, the first track is from massacre "killing time" album. but here on second guitar: rene lussier from quebec, also a fantastic guitarist. the whole section is token from the film:"step across the border" by werner penzel. a very good film about f.frith and his collaborations.
I'm sure that first track he plays sounds just like a track from the first Massacre album, but there's no Laswell!?!?! Still a great video, good to hear his views.
