  • Excellent music by the maestro. I beleive this guy produced almost a composition every day of his working life as kappelmiester of Liepzig cathedral!

  • Wenn ich nur Freiburger wäre .. I'm reminded of my German lessons! Er käme aus der DDR. =)

  • Sounds bad..... but the music is quite good

  • Thank you for this music. My eyes welled with tears.

  • I love this Concerto!!

  • Apparently these concertos (and the Toccata and Fuge in D) were to have been included in the "Sound track of Earth" attached to the Voyager space probes (not these recordings admittedly), but Carl Sagan felt it best to leave it off as he felt it would just be "showing off" :)

And I am "forced" to agree... RIP Mr B! and thanks for leaving us with such wonderous gifts

  • what is the caib. they are tuned too? 432????

  • too bad it sounds like crap..:(

why bother upping this jewel in such a lousy quality?

  • @k1ltro it does sound a bit "grainy" but i wouldn't say it sounds like crap. I like this piece enough to overlook a slight distortion in sound.

  • VIOLINO PICCOLO?????

I´ll get the violin of my little brother.

  • No good sound quality

  • Marvelous!

  • Do you hear a sort of gargley sound in the background? Are they playing under water? Or is me or my computer?

  • How 'bout them lesbians, eh?

  • Brandenburg Concerto is easily the most beautiful work of art ever created. If God had a voice, it would be this.

  • Beautiful to hear, no to see.

Did they got St Vitus' dance ?

  • this thing goes from quiet little chamber trio to blaring horn duet, and that's really dang cool.

  • i love bach as much as the next guy, but magicdolphingo is right, you really must not be paying attention if you think there is no good music today. sure, there is bubble gum pop, and factory-produced 'music', but there is some amazing stuff out there in virtually every genre. honestly, how can you not like the beatles, or bowie, or guns'n'roses, or the fugees, or beck, or antibalas, or dave brubeck, or dj shadow, or burning spear, or johnny cash, or mj, or gershwin, or james brown, etc.?

  • @jramp3 People aren't saying that there's no good music today, simply that one must do a lot of sifting to separate the wheat from the chaff. It never ceases to amaze me how genuinely talented musicians are overlooked in favour of those who possess a good novelty value or will sell the most records. The lamentation is more about the general state of music, where undeniably great music (eg. that of Barrios, Liszt, Tarrega, etc.) is often forgotten about while pop singers become millionaires.

  • "Nicht Bach, Meer müsste er heißen."

  • Baroque is where it's at. Nothing else compares. Those who have a love for Baroque are few and are hard to come by, but we are around.

  • AMEN.

As i often say to my students(I actually ALWAYS say it to my students) "Bach is not God, but if God were a composer, He would be Bach."

Verdi, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Wagner, at least, plus Gounod and a host of second raters, venerated Bach as the greatest of all Composers.(Haydn, God bless him, thought Mozart was the greatest. He didn't miss by much)

So who are we to quibble?

  • @PTCello Where's your proof that those composers veneterated Bach as the greatest of all composers? I'm not disagreeing with you (Bach is truly the best) but where's the proof? I've never encountered this.

  • @Enix5548 I know that Richard Wagner said that after Bach music was constantly degrading.

  • Word.

  • Dear oniuqasaile,

    I share your opinion,

but I meant with pop music, all kind of modern music. Modern music is horrible. I like it so much that there are people as you are, because there are not many people who like classical music.

    ProfChristiaan

  • ProfChristiaan,

I would have said the same thing: "I like it so much that there are people as you are, because there are not many people who like classical music."

But, if we want to get specific, I prefer Baroque music over Classical, but I still enjoy them both. Anything not modern in simple words.

    Oniuqa Saile

  • if you think there is no good modern music, then you are simply to lazy to look, or have a very narrow taste, not that you have some superior sensibility to all other musicians.

  • Comment removed

  • I love classical music, especially Bach's Brandenburg concerto's! It's very beautiful, much better than pop music.

  • ProfChristiaan, I concur with you to an extreme extent! It is definitely better than any other modern music, not just pop.

  • splendid

  • Out of this world!

  • wonderful orchestra...what a superb and great job! gentle and very well done...

  • The trio between the two baroque oboes and the baroque bassoon is absolutely OUTSTANDING!

  • Im just sad dont discover this so late.

  • I forgot how much I love this...but not as much German as I have forgotten! Such a delight and uplifts my heart as much as ever! Danke sehr!

  • These are two different parts: menuet and polacca.

  • what is full name of this part?

  • The horn duet is Bach at his absolute best. As Goethe said, Bach's music is like eternal harmony conversing with itself.

  • @bachkirche Yes, the horn duet is one of the highlights of this concerto. When I was younger, I didn't appreciate this repetitive movement, and thought it was very weak. But all of the "episodes" between repetitions, not just the horn duet, are so very wonderful and they give a new perspective on the ritornello when it comes back around each time.

  • @bachkirche for me is bad, the best for me is music florea duet, you can find it in classic cat

  • Oh dear god, baroque horns. Wow. They are actually playable.

Bachojoli, thanks for posting this excellent music!!!

  • I loved a lot the sound of the french-horns! Perfect!!

  • Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrravo

  • BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL!

  • Amazing

  • The harpsichord sound is a little declined if i compare this with an former recording by the english chamber orchestra under the conductor of raymond Leppard. But may also be its due to the sound quality on YT.

  • What do you mean "declined"? Pitch wise you mean? I didn't notice...and I have a pretty good ear for that sort of thing.

  • This is Great!

    Thanks for sharing!

  • i <3 the bassoonist

  • Fine Horn-playing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wunderbares Tempo für dieses wunderbare Menuett. Grossartig musiziert. Gratuliere!!

  • French horn players are SO cool!

  • I love the baroque-period oboes!

  • I'd like to die in this music, in this ambience!!

  • I think it was Beethoven. Beethoven also said "how can this man [Bach] be dead?" to which his friend replied "He lives in his music" and Beethoven replied back "if only we had time to play it".

  • my fav movement of B. concerto no. 1

  • this music is beautiful...jarde narde eny peitx.

  • This music is so perfect!!! I love it!!!

  • Is there any place I can buy this?

  • Naxos Music Library

  • tks so much

  • Joder como me pone el tal Bach

  • I love the bit that starts at around 5:17!

  • wow. their really good.

Increible!!.

  • Extraordinary cooperation and musicality. One knows good music when they hear it.

  • Very good orchestra! 5stars!

  • I love the way they all move together. Good European orchestras know what "jamming" means!

  • Is is true that Bach is played in heavens ? :)

  • If it is'nt played in Heaven, I'm not going !!

  • JS Bach was supposed to be a Believer...who knows, maybe he'll be there with his baton...

    ah.........I know I'll be there!!!!!!

  • Wonderful video! I like the part when the camera zooms in on the face of my favorite bassonist, DONNA AGRELL!!!

  • Excellent Thanks

  • beautiful!!
