I have an applicator, its kinda like a spone but not the same material. it came with my mineral powder compact. its a 2-sided applicator that came with my Neutrogena Skin Clearing Mineral Powder, can I use this technique?
wouldnt it be better to use a soap that has anti bacterial properties instead of something thats meant to cleanse your hair? shampoo doesnt get rid of the bacteria, just the obvious makeup on the sponge...
I feel so dumb! For years I've been grossed out about putting the same sponge to my face over and over again with all those face oils, and it NEVER occured to me to wash the freakin' sponge! Thank you lol
Thanks for the video. Do you think any shampoo would work, like an aussie product. I have a shampoo I don't wanna use on my hair by Aussie that I thought it might be okay for brushes? or is super gentle baby shampoo better?
@dafneec It depends on what you are comfortable with and how clean the surface you sit it down on, how clean your hands are, etc. I personally will use one side one day and the other side the next and then choose to clean it. For me putting a fresh dollop of makeup on the dried up spot is not my thing lol. Once or twice a week would be ok and would help with germs if you are comfortable reusing.
It depends on the sponge, some are made better than others. It will be very noticeable when it needs to be changed, it will start to fall apart. You'll notice rips and tears.
i love your videos but i have to say that everytime you snap your mouth it hurts my ears i wouldnt like to stop watching your videos becouse of that cuz you are great but can you please snap a little lower !!!!!....please!
You could use antibacterial soap. The only kind I have is the creamy type from bath and body works, and I didn't want those extra moisturizers hanging out in my sponge. If you had the clear type though that would work.
yeah I sometimes do not like those sponges b/c it is just costly and it is the best place that microorganism live...ha haha but thanks for doing this. Definitely save us money and ecofriendly too
useful vid but tip: half of the time I couldn't see what you were doing because your hand was in the way and it was a little irrittating- not trying to be mean, just constructive critisism
for some reason when i was little i had an odd fixation with makeup sponges. wed go to any mall and id always bug my mom until she asked a makeup artist if i can have a sponge. random eh?
i have used it on my beauty blender and sonias cashuk blending sponge and i think it actually works better because it kills germs and sponges tend to collect germs so anti bacterial for me really works with shampoo too i used bbw foam hand soaps incase ur wondering
Once again, I just love your videos. You always offer such amazing tips, reviews, and awsome makeup and fashion tips. Keep them coming darling. Big hugs.
I throw mine in the washer inside a lil laundry mesh bag that I have... in any load that has no softener or bleach and is washed with hot water.. honestly they last me FOREVER and look like new... when I do makeup on others I used brand new ones and dispose of them of course... good vid :)
what about head and shoulders shampoo?

I've got a question - how long can I use one make up sponge? (I get them wet before and after I use them)
Owca2512 9 months ago
@Owca2512 If you're keeping it clean and bacteria free you can use it until it starts to fall apart.

could u use olive oil and dish soap??? michelle phan did a vid on cleaning brushes with it
theblogforyou 1 year ago 2
@theblogforyou I would recommend the anti-bacterial dish soap because it wahses out the bacteria.
the olive oil was only needed for the brushes to condition the hairs of the brush so they won't fall out. iwht sponges, it's less hassle. :]

AndreaJuliet 1 year ago
@AndreaJuliet I've used lots of different left over shampoos that I didn't want to use on my hair anymore. I haven't had any problems.
glintzy 1 year ago
@glintzy Thank you for the response so quick! I love saving money and using something I already have. Have a great day!
AndreaJuliet 1 year ago
@AndreaJuliet Well, baby shampoo can leave gross stuff on your brushes, you should use soap and then extra virgin olive oil to keep them from drying.

Should you wash it every time you use it...? Or one-twice a week?

How many times do you suggest washing the sponges before replacing them?
EuphoricDysphoriaa 2 years ago
It depends on the sponge, some are made better than others. It will be very noticeable when it needs to be changed, it will start to fall apart. You'll notice rips and tears.
glintzy 2 years ago
Doesn't it leave that shampoo fragrance behind?
OrganicRabies 2 years ago
Mine doesn't, I guess it would depend on the shampoo you use. If it's heavily perfumed there could be a chance of it.

since it's a sponge(not a brush with hair bristles) we don't actually have to use shampoo right? wouldn't an anti-bacterial soap be better?
