Since Obama has been in office, gas is up 87% ($1.34/gallon in Feb. 2009 to the national average of $3.58 today). Last week in Ca , I paid $4.19 it will be over $5.00 by Christmas... it will not go down.
Remember, Obama said his plan would cause energy prices to “skyrocket.” This is one promise he has kept.

I live in New Mexico, USA. There are tons of oil jacks and there's tons of drilling here. Working in the oil field is probably the most popular job here. We use our own oil, as well. I guess USA just uses more than it can self-produce.

We did boycott gas on a day in 1997 and the price did go down. We did it again in 2007 on May 15th and the price went down. Well you want to do somthing more radical? Boycott gas every Tuesday. You can buy gas on any of the other days but on Tuesday we boycott gas. We do this until the troops come home. This will force a surplus which will cause the price to go down but still boycott till the troops come home causing the price to drop even more. We keep it up until the troops come home.

oil prices are increased because the oil industry is trying to maximize their profit. They could have risen prices gradually over the last couple decades (like everyone else) but instead they are catching up rapidly and making headlines. In the end, it is SPECULATORS that raise prices, not people who drive SUVs. Kind of stupid way to make money when the rest of our industry depends on oil fuels too. 2) Oil company profits account for 2.5%, or around 8 pennies on a $3 gallon gas. Government profits (taxes) account for around 20%, or 60 pennies...

You can't truly know if violence has resolved more conflicts than anything else. There are conflicts ended everyday both with and without violence, but non violent solutions are rarely reported on the news.

I live in New Mexico, USA. There are tons of oil jacks and there's tons of drilling here. Working in the oil field is probably the most popular job here. We use our own oil, as well. I guess USA just uses more than it can self-produce.

Oil is not a renewable resource neither do we get it from a magic faerie. We must find a solution to prepare for when the time comes when earth runs out of oil. Perhaps we should make different cars, electric, or ones that run on natural gas (hydrogen. The reason gas are up is US! we are to spoiled! If we cut back and do easy and healthy things like WALK TO THE STORE or take a bus train or subway demand will lessen.

According to Hubbert's Peak, we're in PEAK OIL PRODUCTION RIGHT NOW.
And even if we weren't, it doesn't matter. Our dollar isn't backed by gold and it's only worth how much is in circulation... as time goes on more and more is printed. That's why everything else is much more expensive. It's not because it costs more to transport.

It is both the oil cartels,the car industry, and the government that is the issue. Consumers only buy what is advertised to them or availible for sales. The car manufactures have the ability to make a hummer drive around with 30 or 40 miles to a gallon is they so wanted. Real reason for oil prices...look up "enron loophole" on google. The Energy Loophole Act, signed in by republicans, allows speculators to run up the prices for profit without regulation. Just like Enron. It has nothing to do with supply/demand. Demand is way down due to prices and there are false shortages. If you know economics, you know the prices are not following. It's not the value of the USD evn tho it has gone down. Bacaca is just completely stupid and talking s**t.

THE PRICE OF GAS HAS NOT GONE UP. The value of the dollar has just gone down! in 1947 a gallon of gasoline cost about 25 cents. A 1947 quarter contained 1/4 ounce of silver which is worth.. guess what! over $4.50. Which means, THE VALUE OF GAS HAS GONE DOWN. Wakeup people these are shell games.
The government collects almost DOUBLE what the oil company makes per gallon. The underlying problem is ignored. This is misinformation.

In 2000 you could buy a gallon of milk for 3 dollars. In 2008 you can buy a gallon of milk for 3 dollars.
In 2000 you could buy a gallon of gas for 2 dollars. In 2008 you could buy a gallon of gas for 5 dollars.
This has little to do with inflation.

We did boycott gas on a day in 1997 and the price did go down. We did it again in 2007 on May 15th and the price went down. Well you want to do somthing more radical? Boycott gas every Tuesday. You can buy gas on any of the other days but on Tuesday we boycott gas. We do this until the troops come home. This will force a surplus which will cause the price to go down but still boycott till the troops come home causing the price to drop even more. We keep it up until the troops come home.

oil prices are increased because the oil industry is trying to maximize their profit. They could have risen prices gradually over the last couple decades (like everyone else) but instead they are catching up rapidly and making headlines. In the end, it is SPECULATORS that raise prices, not people who drive SUVs. Kind of stupid way to make money when the rest of our industry depends on oil fuels too. Basically we all suffer so a few oil barons can make their billions. Awesome

in 1947, you could buy gas with a quarter. That same quarter (with the silver in it) is worth $4.55... hmm I wonder how much gas costs now... oh my right around that crazy number...
1) inflation is a big reason for prices
2) Oil company profits account for 2.5%, or around 8 pennies on a $3 gallon gas. Government profits (taxes) account for around 20%, or 60 pennies...
3) 60% increase in gas prices during windfall tax of 1980... interesting..
