Thanks for writing, Vampirates1459. I'm to blame for this fight not airing--it was 1 hit & Dr. Inferno Jr. broke down & that was that. Pursuer did pretty well in Season 4. Pursuer is also in the Season 4.0 Lightweight Rumble 2 of 2 video that I posted.
@Vampirates1459 I don't think I'll make it to the Feb 2011 event in Miami. I'm swamped with work & personal obligations, & I have no robot with which to play...
@infernolab We're supposed to be going, along with The guy who built Spinister. Which means I can stop holding a grudge against whichever lawyers made battlebots stop in the first place. I've been waiting to go to battlebots for 10 years.
@eishiba10 Yeah, every year they have Battlebots IQ, which is mostly high school and college kids, but there's also a small pro division. In 2011 there were four pro teams. there are also small events scattered around.
@BellyLover06 Yup, the producers had many fights from which to chose--many weren't aired. This fight simply didn't make for good TV, as there was almost no action. Nothing exploded, nothing broke off, no big hits. Dr. Inferno Jr. just stopped. Kinda boring...
@infernolab They could've aired the fight between Dr Inferno Jr and Afterburner as that had some pretty decent action in it and wouldn't have left us wondering what happened to his arm. That reminds me, I wish that instead of the clips they showed in Battlebots Season 1 and 2 that they were clips of unaired fights so they didn't spoil anything.
just a moment of pride right here...My dad was and is the creator of Pursuer. I was 5 when this battle took place, and I'm kind of upset it never hit the air, but thank you for posting it!
I tried using different motors for drive, & I had pinion gears fabricated & laser-welded them to the motor shafts. The welds all broke a few seconds into the fight & the motors were spinning freely, no longer attached to the wheels (via the gearboxes). =(
I tried using new drive motors & had custom gears cut for them. I pressed the gears onto the motor shafts & had them laser-welded on. All 4 gears broke free & the motors were just spinning freely after a few hits. I replaced the motors & gears with my usual hardware for the rumbles & had no problems.
So what happened? Your robot was pushing around a bit, then just stopped moving. Did Pursuer hit a critical area or was your bot low on battery power?
Pursuers driver looks pretty depressed about being up against the reigning champion at the start. Also lol at "Im super ready!"

@TheLegacyofHitchcock My dad only looked like that because he was like "oh crap!!! I have to fight him??? He was panicking on the inside."

@infernolab Was it not enough action that kept this fight from being aired? Sorry I guess I'm not understanding what you meant in that comment.

Indeed. Dr. Inferno Jr. won the lightweight diivision in season 3.0, so he was the curernt champ going in to season 4.0.
