  • thats a gd idea but here in the uk an form of petrol/diesel power engine that drives a vehicle need tax insurance and u need a licence for it over wise the police can/have the right to impound it and crush it unless u have a permission from the owner that own privet property (ie a farmer with unused field/person with disused runway ect)

  • where did u get that

  • This was very nostalgic to me. My father had a similar motor back in the late 40s which he used to travel to work for several years (in the UK). It was called a Powerpak and was 49cc. It had no clutch but instead a lever on the handlebar operated by cable a device to lift the motor off the tyre. A special tyre with steel reinforced carcase and thick rubber was used as standard cycle tyres were not man enough. I well remember him speeding off with our dog chasing behind and barking furiously.

  • Woah! Check out gasbike.com too! they have some pretty cool stuff.

  • this is sick good ! I want to make this ! :)

  • Why do I keep getting. Flat tires on the rear with rear friction. Help

  • i can pedal faster, with no legs >:

  • like the sound of that.

  • What does a system like this cost?

  • maybe if you put another one on backwards you can go in reverse lol

  • omg can u imagine the speed i would be able to get on one of those things! i only weigh 130lbs

  • dat helped alot

    thanx

  • thumbs up for the woodpecker in the backround

  • If you use a chainsaw you go really faster like 50km/h

  • is this legal for a 13 year old

  • Where can i get one??I need one of those!!??

  • It helps to add another reflector to balance the wheel, or use "flags" made of reflective DOT tape instead of reflectors, if legal.

  • How much gas in the tank? and how many Miles per tank I can ride with a full tank?

  • will it slip in the rain dry wheel or drive wheel that is the question to ask it rains a lot in florida

  • @TheWezid With a tire like in the video, it should work fine, but if you need more friction, you can coat the roller with epoxy and dust it with sand, like breading steak to fry. :-) It will use tires faster but will not slip up. Check Motoredbikes c omm for lots of info and tips

  • want one

  • I wonder if you could mount a second engine on the other side of the kit?

  • Would this kit work if i mounted it on a backpedal cruiser and whats the website to get the throttle and kill switch from

  • that thing is awesome, how much is the kit?

  • great vid, both well done. Thanks

  • what is your website?

  • HOW MUCH AND HOW FAST CAN IT GO

  • Cool. I did not know about this kind of set up. I really like it and like the Honda motor. Thanks!

  • is this thing street/highway leagel. because i live on the highway and in the summer i go fishing every day almost and it just so happens that a cop lives near us and i want to not get arrested...sooooooo yah... p.s. i mayt be considering buyin one of these!

  • damn have to wait till june to get my kit because of new management but i have the engine...carnt wait by the way im 14 lol no one i know here has one so i will be the first wooop wooop they look like so much fun.because of the delay can anyone tell me the price of the kits and how much shipping to the uk is ?? :) thanks

great vid by the way crystal clear

  • Thumbs Up For woodpecker in background noise!

  • Power and noise really suck compared to electric drive

  • That's pretty cool, and does not look so difficult to set up. My neighbor has one and he gos pretty fast everywhere with it.

  • Your motor has centrifugal clutch? Are there other motors available that will give smoother engagement? I see other manufacturers that their motor is mounted in front, especially the electric ones. Does it have the same handling and wear on tires? Can a muffler be installed for a quieter ride?

  • Thanks for the video! By the way, what is the location where you recorded your test ride? It looks very similar to where my mom lives! (^_^)/

  • nice bike we want to see it going uphill too .!

  • Great videos. These are amazing little engines, I am in the process of building one myself, Using a 110cc 2 stroke from a stihl 076 chainsaw.

  • No fun if the bike doesn't go past 50 MPH

    Just my opinion!

  • this is the n#1 making motorized bike video ever on youtube!

    good job and detailed explanation!

how much do you weight and can you tell me the speed please!

at you weight, the speed for me is affordable

    thx!

  • @theboss123ism The description says that a 220 person goes about 30 mph. Not very fast, but reasonable i suppose :/

  • lol "woodpeck still going at it.."

  • thank you for the clear explanations, non jittery video, coverage of all the important assembly steps, a look at the parts, and how they look when installed, as well as the dead stop hill climb...can't ask for much more than that...light years beyond the vids of dumpster derrived engines and you can't get there from here descriptions and the nausea induceing camera work never pauseing on anything of interest long enuff to figure out what to do...

bravo, and good clean kit...i want one now!

  • first off good video, best one ive seen on attaching a motor to a bike but ........

    1. the bike weight is now off center because of where the motor is placed

2 the power of the motor isn't reflected because of the way it drives the bike.... the whole roller on the tyre is a horrible idea.

3.if i do decide i want to pedal im pulling extra friction becuse the motor pushes down on the tyre.

    4. if the motor stops or dies on a hill do i have to get off the bike and pull start again?

  • @SHITONASTICK1100 You're wrong about all 4 of your points......do some research and you'll discover this is one of the best kits out there. Check the motorized bicycle forums and eductate yourself before being so negative.

  • @jb1970ny didn't mean to sound negative n i guess u know, u own the motor. Ive bought the chain version, aint tried it yet tho so can't comment.

  • @jb1970ny why did you not correct him on the points he made instead of making a smart ass comment back i would have liked to hear what you had to say because i like this style it is a lot easier to install than some others i have seen but he was right on one point and wether you want to argue that point or not really doesn't matter if you still have the same mindset as above a chain drive is superior to a drive wheel because there is no slipage educate yourself on that one my friend

  • @jb1970ny bahaha

  • Respond to this video... where to buy this. i live in Canada in NL someone help byy

  • @SHITONASTICK1100 it has a quick release latch

  • @SHITONASTICK1100 i cant be bothered answering all your questions, but i know that friction drive kits are usually crappy, but the way this kit is prepared it is basically the same as a chain driven kit, gear ratios work out the same, much simpler too, and its much easier to set up, when dealing with small weed wacker style engines i dont think it matters how the power gets to the wheel anyway.

  • Great pair of vids - well done, very informative. Also like the woodpecker.

  • wat if u pull the throttle instead of brake wen u see a car

  • @austin76674 You'd be screwed

  • very nice ... you make it look easy to install. both the #1 and #2 were great. Thanks.

  • @meehandyman Thank you....the kit was just redesigned to allow for the conversion to a chain drive system. Check out our website for details on this exciting new combo kit.

  • @jb1970ny this it is really bad ass but do you have anything more powerful sir?

  • The engine needs to have a 78MM clutch for this kit. Most weed trimmer engines use a smaller 54mm clutch. Thx

  • @jb1970ny great vid's mate, but could i use your kit without the engine using a petrol (gas) weed strimmer engine ? it has a clutch built in so it wont stall when idling, please let me know..thanx again for the vids....

  • Wood Pecker

  • the bike is getting 70% of the engine power change how it works to get full power.

  • @max4ever23 Huh???

  • @adb140275 Man i live in Greece ! :/

  • Hows that Walmart 26" Skyliner holding up? I'm a Walmart Bike Assembler-Mechanic for 9 years.

  • Guys i m 14 i don't have a diplomacy ... I can a drive this moto bike ? :))

  • @vladoiraklisg10 depends on your area's laws

  • lol t ds la foret ou koi

  • Can Anyone tell me if I picked a good engine for this kit? pocketbikeparts(.)com/Engine_49cc_2_Stroke_no_electric_start_X7_p/x7en302482(.)htm

  • @m3h5l5 Take out ('s

  • @m3h5l5 Just bought the kit and motor today Cant wait until it ships!!!

  • Very Nice.

I only would like a chain system instead the roller.

  • @sniper0897 Just make sure you don't get the type that goes for about $100-$150, they are absolute junk and are basically disposable after a few months...don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • I'm a pretty light person. 125-130pounds. I hope I don't go to fast! It's illegal to go faster than 30 MPH on flat in TN. I'll just use the littler drive roller

  • Hey I bought one off those Chinese 80cc bike kits that are chain drivin for $200 and had it for two days before it broke down will this break down easily and what is the most likely thing to break. Also I live in Canada and it is $40 to ship the kit and who knows how much for the engine, do you know of a place in Canada that sells the same kit?

    I am 15 with a $350 budget

  • @m3h5l5 Friction drive kits use high quality engines. For instance, I bought one and decided to go with the Honda GX35. It's rated at 70000 hours. And it has a two year commercial warranty... Downside is. The engine alone is 225-245 for the Honda GX35. There are other companies you can choose from that are cheaper in price.. And the kit is 99$ from bikemotorparts (.) com and 119 , I think, from thatsdax (.) com

  • Comment removed

  • @m3h5l5 No I currently do not have any dealers in Canada...it's a mail order item.

  • @jb1970ny Thank you I will be ordering from you soon:)

  • @m3h5l5 daemonbikes

  • Loved That " Woody The Woodpecker's" drilling sound in the back. :)

  • could u do this on like a beach cruser with a big tire in the back

  • @IBMX4LIFE1000 Definitely - in fact a beach cruiser tire is one of the best tires to use for a friction drive kit. A tire that is "thick and meaty" without large gaps in between the treads works best, which most beach cruiser tires are like.

  • the bad thing about this design even though its easier... is that gears on a bicycle mean nothing.... because your not using them...

  • @snooter28 That's a good thing since you do not need a top quality bike for this kit - a $100 walmart bike works great for this application.

  • @jb1970ny no actually you can still buy the same $100 walmart bike but do a different design and use the gears on lets so mountain bikes

  • @snooter28 Since you don't pedal or use the gears that much, you don't need a bike with high end components.

  • @jb1970ny you can rig the motor to use the gears... so you can shift gears and go faster like on a motorcycle... thats the whole gear thing

  • why not just buy a motercycle?

  • @willybainter Lot's of motorcycle owners tell me they have more fun on these over their motorcycles........myself included.

  • @jb1970ny In the end how much did all of this cost you and do you think its worth it?

  • @zTeamBiohazardx The mounting kit is about $150 and an engine is anywhere from $125-$250. Having fun and being out on your bike is worth the money in my opinion. It's been a hot Summer - without the engine I probably wouldn't have the energy to get out on my bike.

  • @jb1970ny Can it offroad with the engine? not like super but like few mud if rained and stuff

  • When the motor quits you just ride the bike home.

  • well put together videos, great demonstration, good job and thank you

  • whats da mpg?

  • How much space is between the top of the dry roller and the bottom of the housing?

  • @photobyz Huh???

  • This is one of the easiest and best kind of kits to put a engine on a bike, its alot cheaper than buying a dirt bike. also the gx 35cc engine is one of the best quality small engines there are. its also good because theres no mixing oil with gas. another good engine is the tanaka pure fire 40cc engine, it has a little more hp than the gx35 but its a two stroke but its still real good quality and will last you years

  • Awesome

  • whats the weight limit on something like this?

  • @townsan1979 There's really no weight limit. If you are heavy rider you will need a more powerful engine or have use the smaller 1" roller with an engine like the Honda GX35.

  • The suspension should be OK, but you should change your tire to a street style tread instead of a knobby tire.

  • random question could you paint the motor

  • looks like a centrifugal clutch so no.

  • i hope the police in your are are very tolerant.

  • this is the simplest, and easyest to install engine kit ive seen, i like the idea of a four stroke too, better fuel economy and no mixing in oil. if you run out of gas all you have to do is pedal to the next gas station and it will prolly only cost a dollar or less to fill up the little tank.

  • @jessebassmaster zip tie and duct tape.......lots of duct tape

  • @MrSafetymeeting ... i cant afford Lots of Duct tape Hahahahah im broke

  • @jessebassmaster Maybe you could scrounge some of the old wire coat hangers. You can do anything with those. That bike is going to be fast so wear a helmet.aahahahaahahaa

  • where do u get it besides that website u said at the beging of the video i need to beable to buy them cheap. could i buy them all seprat or would that be more expensive???

  • i would have one if i could find one cheap. maby i could buy all the parts seprat but i dont know all of them parts i would need or i could us an old engine my dad has in the basment

  • Can you make a video about how to install a 80cc Two stroke engine on a cruiser bicycle ? Im planning to buy this engine but im not sure how to install it .

Making a video about the exact engine i planned to buy would really helps . Thanks .

  • can you tell me the total cost, including bike and all... and can they ship to outside of US

  • no about 40 mph

  • some of our users claim to reach 40mph - maybe so but that's too fast for a bicycle. You should keep it under 30mph for safety

  • how fast does this bike go with the engine on, on a straight road (no hills/slops)

  • you will do about 30mph

  • nice bike, has the engine got gears

  • how fast do u think it could go if u had a bike with 3 gears in the front and 7 in the back like a mountain bike

  • @hanzithaking same speed. its not using the gears at all its driving the wheel/tyre from the top. not using a chain like other motorised bikes. this one does pretty good from my point of view. its owner is a pretty sizeable guy, and it carried him quite nicely

  • @yamahonkawazuki yeah but still if u use gears it would go faster

  • @hanzithaking IF the gears were between teh engine and teh wheel yes

  • @yamahonkawazuki DOH stupid me i know the bike gears dont do anything thats only if they are between the engine and wheel :D

  • thats sick as. i want one

  • im trying to do this with a lawn mower engine although i need to figure out how to make it so that the engine can idle

  • good luck

  • remiinds me of the movie hot rod

  • I've read all the comments hear & on the FAQ's page on your site. What I was wanting to know is about what is the loss of efficacy on this type because of the friction & etc. compared to some of the chain & belt drives. I know it will most likely be a worthwhile trade off for the simplistic design.

  • At around the 30 second mark, that woodpecker goes to town on some man's head. You can even hear him yell. :)

  • bro love this system especially part 1 the install its so simple and cheap now thats cool

  • is there a cheaper way to do this and get the parts? and can you do dirt jumps with the engine. and is it legal?

  • depends on if you know how to land right(soft) and in the state of texas you can only have a 50cc engine and no faster than 30 mph, hope this helped

  • I think my ideal setup for a motorised bike (though not the simplest) would be to have a 50:1 gear reduction through chains to the pedals, then you can use all the gears on the bike, and pedal to start it. It would be useful to instead of a clutch, which seems to slip a bit, use a switch that changes the engine output cog from fixed to freewheel so you don't have to waste energy spinning the engine parts when pedalling.

  • @TimpBizkit with this set up its possible to do yours is inpossible unless you spend lots of cash and have a welder

  • Although you've reduced drag by having a one way roller, is there a small amount of drag created by the roller pressing against the wheel?

  • Yes a little. Just the nature of a friction drive system will create some drag. If you want to just ride the bike without the engine then you would lock the drive roller off the tire.

  • Instead of using drive roller, can you some how connect the chain to it?

  • with this setup, and where the motor is mounted, no. however an in between ur knees motor would work best with a chain

  • @mitzy162 the point is the way its so simple to install and release on the bike any one can weld a motor to a bike but its not the easiest thing to do

  • i like it

  • lol wood pecker in background

  • it sounds loud. isit? and if ti is is there abetter muffler.

  • I was wondering about tire wear, is there a tire type that is better. I am buying a raliegh road racer. the kit is already installed, but am some point I will have to replace the tires. The kit is friction drive just like this kit. Saw a tire that was a kevlar for about 17 dollars. Forgot the brand name. And if anyone can give me an estimate of mileage before the tires need replacement , thanks.

  • for the honda about 450

  • Rather than using the Pull start, can't you just "pop start" this? The same way ya pop a clutch on a stick shift, when the starter stop working.

  • Good job putting this together. Nice scenery. I, a 250 lb rider, regularly get speeds up to 25-30 using regular foot power, but I have been kicking it for a while now... This could be useful when I get old. Definitely cheaper and more fun than building a full size motorbike!

  • About how much did this cost (for everything)?

  • "going through a stop sign I just..." video cuts off.

  • Thanks cool vids.

I never liked friction drive but now im reconsidering. Because its illegal here friction drive might be a perfect way to hide the engine from the due to the placement and no chain\belt\sprocket visible. I can weld a checkerplate toolbox around the whole assembly you know it will just look like a luggage compartment. The other bonus is decreased risk of theft cause people wont know your bikes got a motor mounted to it

  • but how do u install the killswitch and throttle to the engine? i'm confused, can u make a video of installing the killswitch and throttlle to the engine?

  • I just ordered my kit a few days ago. These folks are very nice to deal with and have a great reputation on all of the motorized bike forums I have read. I will put up videos on my channel when I get it going.

    Thanks James,

    Bill (in Kentucky)

  • woody woodpecker

  • how much are they

  • the kit without the engine is about $150. You can get a good engine for about $200

  • is this legal in NJ? anyone know?

  • i am thinking about buying one of these kits, Q: can you use the Honda GX 25? because i noticed you are useing the GX 35....the 25 is less espensive, and apperantly alittle better on gas.

  • A:you can also use those 25 series because you cant afford the 35 series but the 25 cc series has a little bit low performance and slow speed compared to the 35cc series...

    (hope you understand my sentence)

  • Actually the Honda GX25 is not compatible with this kit becasue it uses a smaller clutch (it is too slow anyway). The GX35 is the compatible engine.

  • what type of fuel it uses?

  • it's called gasoline....but seriously - if you use a 4 stroke engine it uses straight gas, if you use a 2 cycle engine you use a gas/2 cycle oil mixture, usually 25:1

  • and we call it petrol in other countries, of course!

  • And in other countries benzin, of course.

  • Shoot that damn woodpecker in the background!

  • how fast can you go if you weigh 140 lbs? plz reply :D

  • depends on the engine, but you'll probably do around 30mph and have good power up hills.

  • where do you get these engines?

  • one thing ive been wondering about these:

does the engine make the bike lean to one side?

  • not at all - the kits are so light (about 15 lbs) that you don't feel any type of leaning or being unbalanced when riding. The only thing it affects is when you have the bike on the kickstand. Some regular center mounted kickstands will work but most will not, causing the bike to fall over. Your best off getting a rear mounted kickstand.

  • Great product! 5 stars to you Sir. Q: Do you make a custom exhaust to cut down the noise?

  • let me ask a question i've been dying to put something like that on one of my bikes it would be really fun and a new challenge i would like to know were i can find the exact same or kit you have on yours please write back

  • Check out the video again - About 11 seconds into the video it lists the web address as to where you can get this stuff

  • bought your kit, got it in 2 days via priority mail :) i absolutely love it, i have a robin Subaru eh035 on it, it really fast and easy to put on.

    thanks!

  • Thanks, Enjoy!

  • just wondering where you got the kit and how much did you pay for it?

  • Check out the video again - About 11 seconds into the video it lists the web address as to where you can get this stuff. It's about $150 for the kit and about $225 for the engine. Complete kit with engine wil run you about $375 if you go with a premium quality engine like the Honda GX35

  • jestem pełen podziwu bardzo ładna praca ;) 5/5

    Good job

  • oh .. okay its fast as hell :D i didnt saw the end :DDDDDDD sorry for my comment ;)

  • it does about 25-30MPH, maybe a little faster with a lighter rider. It's absolutely awesome!

  • but... thats not much xD it looks fast okay i think its much fun
