  • L'Uomo

  • Everytime he bends that string my whole body shivers... one of the best songs ever created ...

  • I have so much respect for Neil Young, I love underground hip hop and Neil Young stands by the same morals that real underground hip hop heads stand for, LOVE OF MUSIC, Neil never sold out, he never allowed himself to be ripped off by the corporations, he stuck by his friends although he had to let some of them go for musical reasons, not to mention his amazing voice and guitar skills (both acoustic and electric) one love for one of the most influencial and spiritual artists out there :)

  • @TheDemize23 holy shit im so happy to see another hip hop head loving the shit outta neil young. there are grand masters in music. standing beside Grand Master Rza is Grand Master Young.

  • @Superman54 haha, RZA's a beast, yeah I don't know any hip hop fans that like young but I don't think there's any rappers out there that I respect as much as Neil

  • His touch and feeling on the guitar is very beautiful

  • Beautiful song................

  • dallas green's cover of this song sucks.

  • only neil can take simple chords and make them sound great

  • Neil Young's woman(in his songs) will always be my woman.

  • @Rahoorkhuitable Bold and most inspirated comment!!!

  • @BilisNegra Harvest your thoughts of soul (Bert Jansch).Go & have a Listen!

  • @Rahoorkhuitable Thanks for that! Didn't know him, though the funny thing is that I do know something about Danny Thompson, but mainly just as having joined Tim Buckley for some UK shows.

  • @Rahoorkhuitable

    Wow, thats deep.

  • Neil Young !! この♪は是非皆様と共有したい。儚くも切なくも美しくもあるニールの♪的素養が溢れ出てる希有な秀逸な曲です。心の奥へと沁み渡ります。

  • This version is the best. Sometimes songs get better when artist evolve it but this guitarplay he do in this is so much better than the following versions I see in youtube. The way he take the accord like it sounds going backward is fantastic.

  • Amateurs should not even think about posting a cover of this acoustic classic!.

  • Incredible! Thank you for this video. This has always been one of my all time greatest songs. To see the actual performance is just too much!

  • Neil Young !! 素晴らしい哀愁のメロディーに切ない歌声‥見事です。

    心の中に慰安の風が吹き抜ける。

    updされた方に感謝します。

  • After all the sins we had

I was hoping that we'd turn bad

  • AWSOME! I just wonder how he would have faired in today's music world like American Idol. What would Simon have said? But who cares right?

  • Perfection; simply perfection...

  • amazinggg i wish i could have been in the crowd for this one

  • I remember 1984(?) when WPLJ went to crap for the first time, this was one of the last songs they played. Banner moments in a life.

  • purple words on a grey background

to be a woman and to be turned down

  • This song was on the very first record album that I bought back around 1971: "Four Way Street." It's one of the greatest double albums of all time.

  • @chrispmis that's true, I love four way street!

  • My fav song

  • Just listened to the City & Color cover of this. It was terrible compared to this. He couldn't even play some of the fillers Neil uses.

  • @BonneauZ28 you cant mess with neil

  • @BonneauZ28 I thought his cover of it was just amazing. Obviously it's not as good as the original. Also just because he didn't play some of the same riffs that Niel plays doesn't mean that he can't. It's a cover so he turned it into his own, tried to make it a little more original to him. It wouldn't really be a cover if he played the same exact thing as this.

  • @UpperAir17 Simplifying a song isn't really a good way of making the song yours. He just cut out most of the good stuff and added very little, if anything, of his own.

  • @BonneauZ28 uh, to make a song of others "yours" it is best to play it the way one likes to play it preferably. if you like to play a song like it is then you do so. if you like to simplify, complicate, cut, rearrange or reinterpret it then you do so. as long as the musician likes it it's always a good way of making a song yours.

  • If asked i would choose this version Of Cowgirl in the Sand as the best Neil Young song of all great songs he ever written.Love the guitar playing and singing.Goes right into my heart.

  • @HumbugHeroes sometime in 1967. he wrote this and 'down by the river' after waking from a dream. he had the flew and was taking some form of perscription cough syrup.

  • NY turned me on to pot and folk rock---so now i'm hooked forever... and happy!

  • I love this live!!!

  • Unbelievable. He's way too young to write a song this good.

  • Such a great song.

  • Love this guy.. for making this song for Dallas Green.

  • Timeless Piece of Music, goes out to all the smart women from an earnest guy :)

  • Perfect

  • WHEN SO MANY LOVE YOU IS IT THE SAME?

  • neil is still a badass!

  • he sounds like herbert but better :P but great songwritter

  • I really need to get around to learning how to play this song.

  • I was at the concert at the Baltimore Civic Center back in 72. He tried to play an acoustic set, the crowd kept yelling for electric music. He got mad after several attempts to quiet the assholes in the crowd, so he left the stage for the duration of his acoustuc set and the intermission. Crowd was about to riot when he came back out said nothing, and played a 45 minute electric set and left. Enough said about "Charm City".

  • Massey Hall 1971 is the best concert I never was at and Neil at the Cranberry House in 1968 was magnificent too if only in my dreams.

  • NEIL YOUNG IS SO DAMN GREAT. MY FAVORITE OF ALL TIME AND IF I COULD JUST TOUCH THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT OR BUFFALO SWEDE LEATHER. I LOVE THE MAN I KNOW THAT SOME OF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND.

  • @11xzxzxz I understand. Just watching videos of him gives me chills.

  • @SouthernGothica Yeah always! Best wishes.

  • neil young is one of my idols. :) such a wonderful song writer and performer. i would of loved to been at this concert.

  • Not only is this one of the best set lists, it's one of the best sounding recordings and the best looking footage. Everything is warm, intimate, and at the same time it's cold and tells you exactly how Neil Young feels, distant and estranged. Massey Hall, Harvest and After The Gold Rush will be playing in my house til the day I die.

  • Neil's a rare gem.

  • Live at Massey Hall is one of his best ever

  • If you don't have this album buy it now. One of the greatest live performances in my opinion, at only 24! He puts me to shame lol

  • deep groove

  • first time i smoked marijuana was to this song

  • @insanekid33 well, THAT must have been an awesome experience !

  • @insanekid33 me too peace bro

  • Love it!

  • im so proud to say that this man comes from the greatest country on earth

  • but why does he live in usa

  • because the record industry revolves around america. he still owns s house and property in manitoba

  • @aconk4775 because he can

  • Neil Young is my favourite since when I was fifiteen: Cowgirle and the neeedle are the songs I love more.

  • How old are you now?

  • I'm 52, from Italy. You can find this (live) song in "Four way street" by Crosby Stills Nash anf Young.

  • possibly the greatest guitarist and songwriter of all time

  • my favorite song of all time

  • gives me the chills also.the lyrics by Neil are some of best i have ever heard.great footage.just layback and enjoy

  • In 65 he was playing with Rick James. I found that very interesting.

  • I bought my dad the CD for Christmas and thought all the versions were awesome, but seeing the footage along with this song just gives me the chills.

  • neil young is one of my favs, but he has tendency to disapoint live. massey hall is great, but filmore is a rip off, DON'T BUY IT, it claims to be a classic dvd but is only a bunch of lame photos, thanks neil for taking twenty dollars.

  • I heard it's suppose to have better audio quality than massey hall, but then again, it'd be nice to have some live footage

  • bloody marvelous! Great version. How many songs are there that sound so good and so different when done electric or acoustic? Neil, thou art a genius.

  • neil young is the best songwritter ever. i love him!

  • I was at this concert with about a dozen friends in Toronto...it was great!!

  • Hello!

    Fantastic !

    Thanks you!

  • the guy is a king some of the most beautiful songs on the planet

  • yop he is the godfather of grunde

  • what a piece of art

  • This is surely a great concert and I love this song.

Does anybody know if there will be a reissue of the wonderful album "Times Fade Away"?

  • Probably when volume 2 of the Archives comes out. Volume 1 contains Neil's 1972 oddball documentary film "Journey Through the Past" which indicates that Neil isn't leaving out stuff that he used to feel wary about!

  • My favorite Neil Young song.

  • Que Grande Neil!

Es tremendo lo que algunos viejos genios han podido hacer con una guitarra y su voz. Lo que no pueden hacer ahora muchos jovenes no pueden hacer con lo que sea...

  • oh my i love his voice here

  • fuck.. all his songs make me so happy and think about shit.. he is truly one of the best artists

  • If you're ever in trouble, ask yourself...

    what would Neil Young do???

  • yup i do that all the time haha

  • probably do some drugs.

  • I dont think any musician has not took influence from him even by a small bit. Every musician from every genre has got to have heard of him. If not they aint real haha. What a legend anyway!

  • rayando la perfección

  • Neil must have been deeply in love with that woman having this song done.. and i will be always in love with this song.. words can not describe the beauty of it.

  • You really need the walking bass and rhythm section to truly appreciate this masterpiece. This is a good-stripped down version though.

  • I watched this video for the first time 6 months ago and it brought me to tears!

  • this version of this song gets me every damn time. i love this song.

  • God bless Neil Young

  • first time i ever heard this song, and and about halfway throug i said THIS IS FUCKIN MUSIC!!!

  • Man I was exactly the same, I was like, this is good shit.

  • He grew up down the street from in Toronto - a few years before I got there - bummer.

My song "Kiley's Song" is on here - he inspired me.

  • yeah ryan adamns ya hes not bad

    i heard him

  • I like City & Colour's version of this song better.

  • i have a question did the rock was on his top in the 70s cuz i think we do not have any singer guitar player like this today what a man !

  • Course there is you gotta look man (ryan adams/sarabeth tucek/cat power/beth orton etc).

  • God sent him for us!

  • Yeah, that CD's great, I don't have it myself, but if this song's on it, then it must be absolutely BITCHIN' Can I get an AMEN?

  • A FUCKN MENN lol

  • man the massey hall cd is great. if you haven't got it yet, get it.

  • Just amazing

  • just saw him live hes amazing he went for like 3 hours strait and wouldnt stop this song was a mizing live

  • stupid twat

  • I HAVE TO SECOND THAT,YOU STUPID TWAT

  • Life would feel empty without that voice.

  • hauntingly beautiful.

  • Wow

  • i love this song so much

  • Simply genius!!

  • Lovely song, I just couldn't stop playing it over 7 over again.

  • great video beautiful song very good take

  • this is my wife's favorite song next to "all along the lee shore" love ya man

  • I was just seventeen . . .

  • this kicks the shit out of the electric version

  • Definitely does

  • City and Colour did a bad ass remake of this awesome song...

  • City and Colour did a great remake of this song. You're on crack buddy. Neil is a god and Dallas is a Soon to be legend as well. They're both nuts.

  • Neil in his prime. There's a great live medley of his on "4-way Street" with C,S,and N, that has this in it.(if you can find a copy). A genius in our time!

  • this is frickin boner time

  • i really love this song

  • I think that I will never fall out of love with this song..I could listen to this performance all day without getting bored with it. its just perfect and so beautiful..

  • I grew up next door to where Neil lived in Toronto, and went to the same high school years later. His music got me through a lot. I wrote a song for my new daughter - it was inspired by him. Check it out if you want.

  • This version is great but the original is a 10 minute masterpiece. Find the electric version.

  • this version in my mind is far superior to the electric version

  • Not sure I'd say far superior.

It's definatly a great version of an already great song.

  • i'm completely in love with this song <3333

  • sau cool neil young in jung

  • .....

fucking amazing. and i thought i loved this song before.

  • I don't know raptaro, Neil was very much a product of his times,as were Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, etc. if they were to come out today and WERE able make it through the meat-grinder,cookie-cutter molds of todays record industry, they would most likely fit into the same catagories with Coldplay,R.E.M.,U-2,John Mayer,Dave Matthews,Jason Mraz, and God forbid,Michael Bolton and Celine Dion;)

  • Ye i guess youre right. What we have to hope for is for someone new to rise and take his place.

  • its kind of sad but true...

  • Where can I get this version on CD? Is there a live record with this song on it?

    That's overwhelming!!!

  • Live at Massey Hall from 1970-71. Get it at Best Buy for 20.00, comes with DVD and CD. What you are seeing here is the DVD. The music is identical. Just came out about a year or so ago. Vintage.

  • to 80inflames80

the cd is "live at massay hall". Is a concert unplakeed, but pubblished only in 2007.Ihope you enjoed it; ciao da ei negrita from Italy

  • Awsome! I hope he plays this well whe I go see him live in Ottawa in December

  • I saw him in Regina in October, and listen mate, you don't have to worry. It was one of the best concerts I've been to all year!!! I envy you getting to see him again! :)

  • thanks for posting this beautifuness

  • the best!

    nuff said

  • Do you think if someone was to come out with this song today as an original, that people would sit and listen to it? I believe record companies skip past artists like neil because its not what sells anymore. So in a sense, this masterpiece was at the perfect time and in the perfect place. Its a capsule.

  • People would sit and listen. The only problem I see is that people get discouraged by what sells. So the companies say: you're good but your music wouldn't sell, just look at the charts.

  • There's plenty of people out there still like this. And yes, generally - they don't get spots on big record labels.

  • you make a good point, and theres definitely some truth there and its very very sad.

  • dr.schiltz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best neil live show

  • haunting

  • Thats what i was thinking.

  • Niel Young 1971, better then ever, never gonna be as good again, I'm afraid :<

  • Except that I like his BBC cuts a year later even more. So I guess.... to each his own.

  • Don't know about that. I think 98% of what he puts out is amazing.

  • excellent version, right up there with the original in my opinion

  • only fucking awesome

  • people have forgotten, thanks to the likes of the jonas brothers, miley cyrus, and artists whose work is written by committee and more about marketing than talent and heart and soul. Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, these people are artists. talent in one particular area doesn't determine whether or not they rock, its about soul, characterization, and deep personal lyrics and an expression of oneself. that is art.

  • yep as Neil put it himself in Crime in the City:The artist looked at the producer The producer sat back He said what we have got here Is a perfect track But we don't have a vocal And we don't have a song If we could get these things accomplished Nothin' else could go wrong.

  • Neil has the most soulful voice ever....combine that with his beautiful and haunting lyrics and he is definitely one of music's greats of all time....
