What I like about this movie is how mu more interesting the villain is.

In the first film the villain simple had the traditional "bring horror on mankind and rule the world" cliche that so many others have.

Here though it's a case of a prince of a magical race wanting to prevent his kind's extinction and doing whatever he can to achieve tha end.

Not the deepest certainly, but deeper than many.
