How can I tell if my site has a true 404 page for invalid pages?

If you use Firefox, you can use the Live H**p headers add-on. Once installed, go to Tools->Live H**p Headers->Load the page you want to test and check for the first entry, you'll see something like "H**p/1.x 404 Not Found" after the second blank line. Otherwise, you'll see "H**p/1.x 200 OK".

If I'm wrong please tell me, because that's how I think it can be done.
