This SEC was built in 1983 and playing basketball there was the last thing on the designers mind. The Kings themselves didn't start playing there until 1990. Besides that, the SEC was designed as a concert venue with all the seats pretty much in the front view of the stage. If the Kings could regularly draw more than the 10,500 the SEC holds then they'd play their games at the 17,741 seat Acer Arena.
Oh wait, they tried that 10 years ago and failed.....
An extra grandstand would allow for more people, but there's not enough room as the loading dock and stage storage area is directly behind the corporate boxes there on the left.

can someone tell me why they dont make a grand stand on the left side behind the basketball ring?
they could get so much more fans there if they did
