Some of you guys need to get over yourselves! Fish helped write songs that suited his own voice particulalry well - well duh no huge surprise there, Marillion fans still enjoy hearing ocassional fish era songs too - you guys want form a picket line to prevent that! You're so right! This is barely even the same song. (Sorry, H!) Fish is the soul of his music. Hogarth is just the body - just the shell. He's attentive to and capable of good tequnique, but there's simply no depth - no SOUL to it! Fish is true original.
Marillion was a perfect diamond. Splitting it up made the remaining pieces shine less bright, but both were still beautiful.

The song is great sang by hogarth or fish, i love both, they have done great things with both, i think we all have to understand marillion was, is, and will continue to be fuckin great.....instead writing nonsense

You're so right! This is barely even the same song. (Sorry, H!) Fish is the soul of his music. Hogarth is just the body - just the shell. He's attentive to and capable of good tequnique, but there's simply no depth - no SOUL to it! Fish is true original.

Marillion was a perfect diamond. Splitting it up made the remaining pieces shine less bright, but both were still beautiful.
I like the 'new' Marillion, with Steve H. but let's be honest here: on this occasion the band and Steve are absolutely murdering this classic, probably Marillions best song ever.
Very, very poor show. As this is from a piss-up, let's say it was drunken shenanigans and quickly forget about it, eh?

I agree, dont like the whiney way in which he sings this dramatic song, doesn't sound as if he has much of a range either, screeches the higher notes , a bit shit to say the least, ruined it, the only person who can sing the old stuff is FISH himself.

H's not so bad, IMHO. He doesn't seem so happy to face fish era songs, but his voice is very good. of course i prefer fish's interpretation, but it's in the same way i wouldn't like so much fish singing "When I meet god"

Very true, Fish is very unique no one can sing like him. But Hogarth is a squeaky toad that I absolutely despise. IMO Hogarth should draw the line and say I'm not going to sing a song from another vocalist, its just plain wrong. none the less the songs a classic.

Sorry Steve H. but this is Fish' song and for us true Marillion fan, this version just doesn' t cut it, What you wrote and sang since "Season' s end" was your stuff and it sounds great. So please, stick to it !

Knock it off, people. Haven't you heard of a singer putting his own interpretation on a song? There's no written law in music that states a singer has to sing it the exact way the previous singer sang it, even if he is the writer. I think H's version here is just fine, and apparently the band doesn't, either.
