  • and 2 seconds have been cut off the time since then..

  • Nice to see you Playing with your electric Toy

    LOL oll stick to Gas

  • the zombie is a beast

  • ill have my big block chevy over this any day.

  • and what do you think powers electric cars??? that's right, that nasty old coal... electricity is not as clean as some people think. not to mention those battery sig in landfills for hundreds of years.

  • gas powered engines forever

  • Sasquatch!!!!! 0:36

  • all electric cars can go die in the crusher

  • @DaDuttFire little butthurt, eh?

  • Need a massive stereo for the turbo and waste gate sounds!

  • Seems to go a bit dead in the top end, 12.3 pulling a wheel stand like that off the line? This may be better suited for 1/8 mile drag. Electric motors have brilliant instant torque, but they go flat once theyre wound up from what Ive seen.

  • fuck the sound, if you want to hear a rumbling motor, sleep with your mother-in-law

  • needs a vroom box

  • Lithium polymer batteries can take your 100% ve or better combuster and centralize the energy spent for cleaner combstion.

  • wow, would be cool if their were electric drift cars, and they had decals like yokomo..hehe

  • as Jeremy Clarkson would say, enough torque to tenderize an elephant..

  • The only thing I'll miss about ICE cars when they're eventually put into museums is the noise

    Lets get electrified

  • You can beat that launch off the line :)

  • now if only they could eliminate the battery and make it 100% effieciant.

  • one thing people forget, dc electric motors have 100 percent of their torque start at 0 rpms, and it stays pretty constant till past redline. Internal combustion engines et max torque somwhere past 3000 rpm.

  • Dammm. That's electric torque power for you. I wonder how the Tandem or Tesla will do against it... Great project car... Well done.

  • EVs are better? Ask John Force and Tony Shumacher and then get back to me.

  • that because you have the max. potence on any situation (constant potence)

  • Dam'

  • All that torque lifted the front wheels up! The Aero SSC does the quarter mile in 9.90 secs at 144mph so my vote still stays with gas : /

  • @FlyingAero At $650k each, the Aero SSC also costs more money than the next 5 or 6 posters combined are likely to make in a year, and that's being generous and assuming they all make about $100k.

  • holy shit it picked up the wheels hot damn.

so how much did it cost to build

  • holy shit! that was an electric car coming out of the box like that. no way

  • ohhh shit!!!!!!

  • In the future I'm betting heavily that all cars will be propelled by direct drive hub motors, and the best ones will have 4 of them, one for each wheel. Software will tell each motor what to do so traction is always its best.

  • in some years electric car will kill top fuel... :(

Look in the RC car all brushless car are faster than nitro ... I love brushless :) But i love top fuel sound too :P:P

  • Because sound is energy

more noise = more energy converted to sound = lesser energy converted to speed = losing speed

  • That EV sure had an amazing launch. wished my AWD Eagle talon could launch that aggressively!

  • Actually, before you electric fanboys go any further...did you know V6's and V8s are actually the least noisy cars?

That's right. Most luxury car manufacturers put V8s under the hood for this very same reason.

This is even more noticeable with aftermarket exhausts. Have ever actually heard a straight 4 or (even worse) straight 6? They will make your ears bleed. A V8 can sound good and yet be very quite.

Then again anything could be made loud. Ferrari V8s sound loud and very annoying.

  • A straight 6 is one of the quietest engines I've eer heard. I had a 96 Jeep Cherokee with a 4L straight 6 and it was much quieter than the V8 grand cherokee. Ran smoother as well. I do agree with you about the Ferraris though... now there's one that hurts the ears.

  • Yeah, I know. My friend's mercedes was very quite too. Till he put an exhaust on it...

I hate how loud Ferraris are. It's gay (as in showy).

  • Ferrari V8 revs a lot more higher,in order to produce any power at all.High power or large displacement V8 engines usually have quite low idle and dont rev that high, thats the reason of that nice low sound, that gently touches your ears.

  • @Henzzman

    Exactly. Well put.

  • @wildbloodydragon V6s and V8s are used mostly for packaging reasons. They're shorter and wider than their inline counterparts and are easier to fit underneath square-shaped car hoods. People demand more and more horsepower and you can only get so many cubic inches under a typical car hood in an inline configuration. Inline engines tend to be used more when space is less of an issue for a variety of reasons.

  • I wonder if all the those gas race drivers were shock to learn they were beatin by a EV? Especially the 400hp corvette!

  • this story tell you: if you don't have a electric car, don't show on the drag strip

  • I'm not sure what your trying to say.

  • @Tbrehm05 electric car for the win!!

  • @Tbrehm05 WOW! It pulled up the front wheels!

  • I think with a couple of exceptions, that works the other way around.

  • Electric cars work so well over a 1/4 mile because the torque is almost instant.

Gas cars have to build torque and this vid demonstrates that with the electric cars launch.

  • proof that combustion engines are inefficient and obsolete

  • Shame...my 2000 Ford Ranger EV NiMH....Ford refuses to admit they MADE IT.....10 years ago...and its still doing EXCELLENT on NIMH technology.

  • That is because they dont want like Toyota with their RAV EV to admit that NiMh is better an it works now NOT in 2011 !!!

  • Boosted XR6T

are you one of those guys that lives in the past...stuck with noise as the only way to draw any attention to your-self. Like a beer bottle as you pour it out....the more empty it is ....the louder it gets.

You prolly drive up and down the streets without a care for the ear-drums around you.

Your more to be pittied than scoulded.

  • GraemeBerke that is just my opinion. I don't have a V8 to draw attention to myself. I own a V8 because I like V8's. It's a personal choice that doesn't need defending.

Stuck in the past? Well you better let nealy all major car manufactures on the planet know because most of them (still?) make V8's.

How loud do you think my car is? Just because it's a V8 doesn't mean it's loud.

If you are going to direct a comment specifically at me, make sure you have all your facts straight please.

  • Speed is the only thing I want in Drag, can V8 faster then EV?

  • That might be what YOU want but I think if every drag car was an EV, I bet noone (spectators) would go. Spectators may have their favorite teams but its the raw grunt is what they want. I can't take away this guys win. Awesome car.

It's the V8's......the top fuelers, funny cars is the reason the drags are so popular. To FEEL the car vibrate through your chest is the reason people go. Not to hear mosqitos (sp.) running down the 1/4 mile. But hey, each to there own.

  • but no team & driver want to race for lose.

sound is energy, more loud mean you losing more speed.

more cylinders mean the engine is bigger & heavier, and this is also losing speed.

the taste of the fuel is the fuel through to air, that means you losing your fuel, & also losing money and speed.

  • I'm sorry ScaniaFung but you haven't grasped what its about. from a spectators point of view. As you put it. "the taste of the fuel" is what its about. Not just wasting fuel. Its the rumble. The shear grunt of a V8. As a spectator, THATS what its about.

  • it is what spectators think, but for the team, they will think how to win.

  • yes you are right

  • Why do you lose speed because it is loud? that's like saying i can't walk fast when i talk. And more cylinders means more cubic inches and thatmean alot of more fuel is in the engine at the same time and that means alot more power. And v8s is not as heavy as people think. they are often made in very light weight steel. And why do you lose speed because because you are using fuel? And it's almost as expensive to race in a electric car.

  • You will run slower while screaming compared to running without screaming, because you are wasting energy while screaming, and that energy could have been used to increase your running speed.

  • Would be great if you could dubb in a v8 growler sound. Fast or not. A car that goes zzzzzzzzzzzzzziiiiiiiiiingggggggg

just doesn't cut it with me.

  • I wouldn't mind it for daily driving, especially in traffic.

But nothing amps me up more than that noise. Whether I make it or others, I enjoy the sound of a V8 like I enjoy touching a stripper's boobs. I even go like "shsh!" when I hear something coming down the street.

    I knew I'd regret buying a V8. I'm getting like 14MPG. But I knew if I had gone for a V6 I'd someday say "dammit, those V8s sound good...why didn't I buy one."

But every push on the throttle is worth every penny for the gas.

  • wildbloodydragon....Agreed :)

  • that was freking awesome! If gas ever runs out, I'm doin an EV conversion on my bug :D

  • proof we don't need detroit for an electric car

and yeah this one beats "any" of Detroits muscle offering

    eat my Dust AMPS !

  • there were so many electrics at the autoshow this year i was like awesomeness.

  • fuck me, i want one!

  • omg the fat woman jumps out of the way

  • lol look at the fat chick jumping out of the way because she doesn't want to get her ass on youtube..

  • damn I got scared when the first car started lmao it was like...god dammit I didn't even see it O_O wtf

  • White Zombie is a seriously quick car, in answer to the queries below it is usually lead acid powered. The Plasmaboyracing Website has most of the information you would need to copy this. Awesome!

  • V8 american muscle car is obsolete !!

    ha ha

yeah you can make all the noise you can

but a little datsun beat yah !!

  • great ! any info about which motor and how many batteries this is using ?

  • there's another video here the battery is lithium-ion and it fits a small box.

  • is this the White zombie?

  • this just proves we don't need GM to make a $40K "hybrid" VOLT

anyone with half a brain can convert gas to electric car

  • can you convert a gas car to electric?

  • yes that little white datsun was a petrol car now its electric

see we dont have to wait for a big company like GM and others to build an electric car ...there are many companies doing electric conversions out there do a search here on utube

    you'll se a porsche 911 a 914 electric and many others

  • ye, but those arent production cars... but i mean if you dont want to buy a new car than theyre pretty good

  • yes you can!

  • i know but i was saying CAN YOU, as in him, i was saying can HE do it.

  • holy crap didnt see that coming whoa

  • fuck thats alot of torque

  • WOW- HOLY SHIT!

  • when that car shot off the line it was so fast i burst out laughing, too cool. google Eestor... cant wait see eestor tech in ev cars.

  • electric motors push trains. 'nuff said.

  • @AffluentLiberal

    I know, they rock! :D

  • @AffluentLiberal

Your car probably has half a dozen electric motors in it! Like to see you drive in the rain without windshield wipers, Yes they have electric motors lol

I could go on and on, How about the starter motor in your car, Pain in the arse trying to crank over your combustion engine without it. Hell even the cd player in your car most likely has an electric motor in it!

Like them or not they are the future, I am looking forward to seeing decent electric cars on the road.

  • @AffluentLiberal Since when does a train get pushed?

    Pulled, perhaps.

  • Awesome! Gas burners still sound cool but when you get more power without being a slave to the oil company, why not lol

  • Very nice. I want to build one of these myself one day.

  • this car lifted wheels for the better part of 15 feet and ran a 12.30. WITH A PASSENGER!! no part of that sounds very boring to me.

  • I bet it could slaughter anything you own. Give EV's 10-20 years, and I guarantee you, you will own one. Change isn't bad, there's nothing to fear =).

  • Nah. The making and disposing of batteries along with some other ev parts causes pollution. No to mention those greedy democrats wont want to make them ev's more efficient because people wouldn't want to have ev's and democrat politicians wouldn't have internal combustion cars for fuel for them to tax on if EV's were efficient and people did want them.

  • lead acid batteries are like 99% recycled. I just finished a homemade EV. I love it. Check out my how to videos. It's really nice. Pretty easy to do yourself.

  • What causes more pollution than a mobile gas burning engine that requires an oil change every 3000 miles?

  • Instant maximum torque says you're wrong.

  • femmebott, Nah, Ev's have been around for a little over 100 years, way before al gore. I don't even think Gore even cares about EV's or man made global warming, he's just doing it for attention and to make money. I always wanted to make an EV, but after I perfected it, I always thought about putting in the most efficient and biggest diesel generator that would fit in to the car to double the milage.

  • Nothing like a flat torque curve from zero rpm!

  • WOW electric motors are very powerful!

  • Way to Go Plasma Boy!! Nice Run.

  • wayland, lemma ask ya...how many tires does the White Zombie burn through per year?!??

  • WOW!

  • wow.... not much autonomy with the battery.... <_<

  • So much torque! that'll rip your head off

  • Is that the White Zombie?

  • The one and only. What a ride!

  • I'd love to be blaring Super Charger Heaven on a huge sound system while tearing down the highway in that thing. Wicked, wicked fucking car.

When you hit the accelerator, you have to aim that thing away from any and all obstacles, otherwise you're going to kill someone. The G forces at launch are just incredable, with about 800 lbft at 0 rpm from the twin 8" series wound DC motors and Zilla 2k controller.

  • Actually, I have a couple of zippy electric gokarts (see my videos), and one of the things that makes them fun (and funny) is the lack of howling engine noise. That's also probably the only reason I've gotten away with driving them on residential streets. :D

  • As much as I love electric cars(I'm even building one), the lack of engine noise is the only major downside. I like scaring the hell out of people with fast cars, and they have to have the noise. However, the silence could be very beneficial for committing hooligan activities in the countryside. As usual, it's a tradeoff. :-)

  • I guess you could just do the noise with your mouth " braaaahhhhhh!!!!! tsutututu" lol

  • @intheshitter

so your saying the noise makes a engine faster? well sound is a form of energy and if none is released that energy is saved meaning its saved for power. not saying you meant that just saying for any one that's wondering. but ya your right if someone was worried about that i guess they could hook up some speakers hhaaha

  • @matthewGML Im not trying to be a dick, but its the feeling of the car launching mixed with the sound of the engine running and the smell of high octane fuel all mixed together that makes drag racing fun, its what gives you that rush! Its like having a church with no bell! the meaning is there, but the feeling is diferent, If you understand. Thats all, not trying to start a battle of the wits. Just speaking for myself and what think of it!

  • Awesome demo!

  • Pretty much any car can be converted. it most likely uses deep cycle lead-acid batteries. For greater range you can use Nickel-metal hydride batteries but the charging circuit would be different and you would need some sort of cooling system so they don't overheat.

  • Much of you might be looking for is in last month's Car and Driver...

  • Too bad you can't get large format Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. Fucking Chevron assholes.

Using small NiMH won't work because their charge profile makes it near impossible to charge parallel strings, and small format NiMH don't have the cycle life and shelf life of large format Ovonics and Panasonics, and the cooling requirements of small format NiMH are just plain stupid. It's a mostly unworkable solution(you're better off trying Li Ion), and we need the large format NiMH for viability.

  • Is this a standard car conversion ?.Does it use mega expensive components or could any fossil fuel auto be converted to run like this ?.Awesome demo :-)
