1949 Mercury "James Dean" 2 Door 6P 9CM

In 1987 I got to ride in Jimmy's '49 Merc. The car was housed at the Harrah's Car Museum in Reno. We had travelled many miles to Reno (from Montana) to see just that car. I was thrilled when the car's own mechanic released the velvet ropes and said, "C'mon, the boss said I'm supposed to take you for a spin." You could not have wiped the grin off my daughter's and my faces as we tooled around the parking lot, sitting just where Natalie sat...One happy memory, for sure. LS

@warrenclarkable Thanks Warren for passing by and for the thumbs up. Yes the main difference between the 49 and the 50 is the dash. The 51 becomes different in the rear (taking from a "sedannete" approach)

This '49 had the wrong door handles, they were the pull type in '49. The push button type came out on the '50.

@BenSHammonds you are surely right - no question about that - the thing is, at the time I did not have the right handles... now I have them, but the fact is that the ones in the car are better... so, when I finally bit the dust and the car goes for my children, they can decide which handle they are going to use... - THANKS FOR PASSING BY!
