Hey thanks for this tutorial, I have saved it to my favourites so I can re visit it when I actually make it, not that I need to re watch as its a simple build. I got the holga pinhole lens for my canon dslr as an xmas present, I hadnt realised you could make them out of the body caps, so I might to a comparison video on shop bought pinhole dslr lenses and DIY made pinhole lenses :) I have subscribed, cant wait for some more videos like this
I have found better results with heavier metal. Like a piece of soda can. Don't put a hole all the way through. Just put an indent then sand it till you get a very small hole. You will get better results!
You should drill the hole before taping the foil to the body cap, and sand it before taping it. This makes the hole less jagged. I've done this using a T-mount adaptor instead of a body cap, but basically the same thing.
@AnimeMooMooCow The light goes to the sensor which sense where how the light hits the sensor. Then a image processor converts the information from the sensor to a image. But an old camera is that the light hits a photo paper. The photo paper reacts with light. Where there is a lot of light there it gets whiter and where there is not so much light nothing happen or just a tad. Then you put the photo paper in some liquids and the image is done.
the pinhole is actually the lens, seth. the pinhole is doing physically what the lens does optically, that is, make an "axis" point that the light travels through.
So I guess I can look it up too, or get lisa to tell me (cause I'm sure she knows already) but why don't we just make an ubber-small hole in the lens cap? It the tinfoil more reflective or something? I really have never made a pinhole camera before so, unlike normally, I'm not being flip...I really don't know ;)
@merriamsj I've heard of it being done that way, but the drill bit cannot be used to drill all the way through, and a pin apparently can't poke through the heavy plastic.

I love that, "There is no science, it's all magic." That made me really happy.
