  • Great band-great song.

  • the first song i ever heard of them in the 80s thanks for sharing a good memory to me!

  • Out of all the comments gerally made about the musicianship in Japan, no one seems to mention how savage Jansen is as a drummer. His drumming in 'Sons of Pioneers' and 'My New Career' amazingly complex yet satisfyingly poptastic. He even makes this song a lesson is style and elegance over bravado. Genius!

  • @thebrnochairsvideos Indeed the drum work on this is seriously, seriously good.

  • Fantastic!! Bought back memories of my youth and crush on Sylvian x RIP Mick Karn x

  • Karn is the best

  • My favourite band ever but only just started listening to them again recently, still sound fantastic. You'd have to go a long way to find better musicians that these guys. Thanks for the vidoes, making a middle aged man smile again. cheers

  • Thank you for this, so much.

  • @wkfletch U´r welcome! :DDD

  • @biladd hello my friend is there any video with a live performance of the cover "Aint that peculiar"???

  • my worship of mick karn simply cannot be overstated

  • it sounds as if it came out from bowie's lodger . sheer copy !

  • @jhnbalance of which song?

  • @jhnbalance You talk out your ARSE!! This doesnt sound like a copy of anything- Japan are completely unique and original.

  • Unfortunately Mick Karn was diagnosed with advanced stages of cancer

    this month (June 2010).

You can make a donation toward his medical care at his official web site.

Although a founder member of Japan Mick is not a rich man and is living in Cyprus with his wife and son.

  • @ianoreilly aw that is so sad what a great artist he is

  • Mick Karn: Rubbery Soul !

  • that bassist is one cool dude

  • I've never seen any info on Karns famous shuffle.

Hopefully there's mention of it in his autobiography.

  • Mick Karn- Coolest bass player EVER!!

  • @ariesscorpiorising Ever....

  • I want to be there so desperately bad......but I wouldn't be born for another 13 years...uh...

David is BEAUTIFUL! I almost forgot how much I loved Japan. Why are there NO mainstream/modern bands who sound like Japan?

  • Karn at 4:42 -5:10 Yeah....

  • I remember playing along to this track in the living room with my fretless bass back in the early 80's, trying the Karn shuffle and falling flat on my face!!!

  • compare this with the 1981 version at Hammersmith Odeon, it's like Masami's guitar is buried in the mix to hide him. I think he was the big downfall of their last tour.

  • i agree. There was something etheriel about japan live circa 1981. I saw them live at the Venue and the lyceum and then the Hammersmith Odeon .Japan were stunning. The playing had become telepathic. and the audience seemed to know they were in the right place at the right time.Ive never had that feeling at a gig since .The 'canvas' tour was different. The sylvian/karn situation,no Rob Dean and Masami's Guitar volume, playing and stage theatrics flawed the magic they'd created live..

  • Mick's bass playing is flawless. Sylvian has an amazing voice.

  • 03:07 Mick Karn no carrinho xDDD

  • Oh, I'm addicted to it... but the whole concert was deleted on YouTube before... Thank you VERY much!

  • Mais uma apresentação maravilhosa do Oil On Canvas !!!

Muito bom, Japan é uma banda fantástica xD
