Its called eastbay because Isaiah Rider named a between the legs dunk the EAST BAY FUNK in an NBA dunk contest back in the 90's. Rider was from the Eastbay (Oakland). Youtube it.

He wasn't the first to pull this off, though. I think Larry Nance did this back in the 80's but because he was so tall it wasn't considered as big of a deal.

I was surprised he could do this. It was already pointed out that it's more agility than actual hops. Surprised he's in the dunk contest, you need hops to make it look better. He got hops, but not to get perfect score hops. He needs like a whole nother foot on his vert to get the fans at the contest and us watching at home to get us off our seats. He can't add another foot to his vertical. First off, he already has a great vertical, and maybe he could add a few inches, but a foot is almost impossible. And the TFB guys have crazy verts and dunks because they aren't playing in the NBA, which means they don't have great endurance like Jennings for example. Most of them don't even play anymore, they just dunk.
