  • @missclassicforever: I heard Jack Warner wanted a more of a belting/Judy Garland style of singing so he had Ann dubbed.

  • Gogi Grant is a very blessed singer with a gorgerous voice.

But I will never understand why she dubbed Ann Blyth in The Helen Morgan Story.

Ann Blyth is one of the finest singers of all time. Her voice is extraordinary.

  • she sang it with a really happy energy and truly imparted the correct subtext of the song...this is the best version i have heard so far..."no more blues on parade!"

  • She's my aunt. I'm the proud niece. What can I say. Too bad her talent didn't get passed down to me.

  • Wow what a great version thanks.

  • incredible song

amazing how much the world's taste of music has changed so dramatically since the 30s, 40s and 50s tht was the golden age of music

wierd thing is im only 17

  • Another great song from Gogi!

  • Of all of the vocal versions, this one makes me want to tap my toes and dance down the street! Just love it!

  • The best version ever!

  • Her voice is amazing!

  • @renaissancea It certainly is amazing!

  • Excellent!

  • What a beautifull and vibrant voice.....and looks to boot.....Gogi, I love you.....

  • Thanks for posting. She had a great voice, and I guess her career was shortened by the advent of rock 'n roll like so many other pop singers. I don't like rock nearly as much as I used to - if for no other reason than it eclipsed so many great pop and jazz talents.

  • First time hearing of her name. What a style! Can tell by her voice that she's a classy lady.

  • she has the best version in mu opion

  • Wow! Just a wonderful rendition! Can't say that I had heard of Gogi before but I'm going to hear more of her!

    Thanks for posting!!

  • Beautiful rendition!

    Thanks for posting.

  • This recording was in my Grannie's house when I was a child. I played that vinyl to death!

  • Wow. I've never come across Gogi Grant before. I really gotta say; this is my absolute favourite female version of this song. It's quite sexy! Why have I never heard of her before?

  • If you were around in the late fifties you sure would have heard of her. In 1956 she had one of the biggest recording of the decade with "The Wayward Wind". But I guess "Rock N' Roll" shortin' her popularty as it did a lot of Pop Singers of that period.

  • really reminds me of sinatra. the phrasing, vibrato and all that shit. wonder why she isn't that popular nowadays.

  • I had the priviledge of meeting Gogi Grant at a Hollywood autograph gathering. She signed my copy of The Helen Morgan Story. Lovely lady and one of the all time great singers.

  • Gogi Grant did a great job on The Helen Morgan Story!

  • What a lovely voice, she puts on the sunny side of the street.

  • Gogi, one of the best, not getting the recognition she should.

  • Very glad that you posted this. Many thanks to you. It's a great reminder of a wonderful period in our past and brings about some very precious memories. Can't thank you enough.

  • Most welcome!

  • Best pipes in the business...

  • Terrific, jazzy, wonderful version of this

chestnut, performed by a sadly forgotten

singer with one of the all-time great voices.

    Go Gogi!!

  • this is on my alltime favourite songlist :D

    xxxx

  • Thanks for the most played recording in my home since I discovered Gogi by watching the Helen Morgan Story.

Now friends since meeting in '89 I'm bragging shamelessly to say that when she was last in my home town about three years ago she told me she'd have a surprise for me and it was this song as an encore.

She's always laughed as I stammer around trying to point to exactly what it is about this arrangement right from the way she hits the word hat at the start, that after 33 years.

    THANKS!

    JT

  • Your very welcome!

  • I'd brag too. Don't be ashamed....proud, yes.

  • @Thunderbird7090 I love her music, friend of my uncle's who knows her brother stan from the flower business

  • One of my favorite songs. A fabulous version by a fabulous singer.

  • I totally agree! Gogi = flawless
