The beat wasn't stolen. First of all, Dr. Dre got the sample from a French song called "Parce que tu crois?" by Charles Aznavour (which was recorded in 1966!) with his blessing as Aznavour, who once said if someone liked his songs that much, he didn't mind them getting sampled if it advanced the artform of music. Second, Dre's production company let Blu Cantrell use the sample for the song. They got permission. Not stolen. Amazing Dre listened to a 40yr old song for that!!
