It’s best to make sure all the woods you’re using have the same characteristics. So, mixing walnut, cherry, maple and oak isn’t bad, but throwing pine in with the other woods could be a problem. Varying moisture levels from piece to piece can have the affect of one part of the project expanding & contracting seasonally differently than another part, which isn’t good. Your projects will be the most stable when all parts are at the same moisture content level.
