Check out my footage from a GRUNDIG Saticon camera. It was recorded directly to a DVX100 DV camcorder. Now i use an GVD-1000E portable DV recorder and a 12V battery pack.... By the way, you can "upgrade" your tube camera to look modern: Get a hotshoe adapter from Ebay, a cheap chinese TFT video monitor for 20 USD ;)
@GanEdenAustralia I have the camera connected to the DVD recorder via the audio/video outputs of the camera's power unit. Then I record to the DVD recorder's hard drive, copy the recording to a rewritable DVD and then copy it to the computer, then I extract the VOB files, join them together and edit them in MPEG Video Wizard to make the final product.
@troysvisualarts Are VIB files quite easy to extract from a DVD RW? I was using one of these Canopus AVDC devices for converting analogue to digital as I have heaps of old cameras like yours and 80s camcorders.
@GanEdenAustralia Also for the safety of the DVD recorder, I have a VHS connected between the camera output and the DVD recorder so it strips the DC voltages as older cameras output a bit of DC as well as the AC signal which anything over 1V DC can zap the DVD recorder's inputs which is what happened to mine. I recommend this even with capture cards too and any other digital recording device.
@troysvisualarts Interesting. SO basically it would fry the circuits if you didn't use the VCR as a regulator kind of thing?
I have found that when using digital camcorder and connecting the Firewire from a PC to the camera that both must be switched off because of the same issue? Certain pro camcorders have had their boards friend because the Firewire port sent static to the camcorders input. Hmmm

Any particular DVD recorder you'd recommend Troy?
