I love this Indian influence on the culture of the world, i think they have a very rich culture, and tells me something about love... eternal love, the infinite and the no guilty, to be present and always be part of the one, the all.
Traffic on the sreets of Calcutta ( now spelled Kolkata) or on the streets of Dhaka feel nowhere as funkily fast-paced as this musical track. What was he thinking? Perhaps the great Bengali composer Ananda Shankar wanted to pour onto the streets his heart's joys on top of the gridlocks.
This song makes me want to just leave my dead-end position in life and go exploring jungles, climbing mountains, travelling the world, dining in kings' halls, becoming a film-making millionaire, and having a family with lots of babies...five hundred of 'em....yeah. Babies *EVERYWHERE.*
Thank you, Mom for having a keen ear for music. She had original pressings of Ananda's self titled LP, & his Music LP, and the Missing You EP in her collection. After years of collecting dust, she gave them to me!!
@boombap28 some mums have great music taste don't they?? ;) .. my daughter always "brags" to her friends about -my mum has the best taste in music ever..i know music history of the world thanks to her! Long live daughters and all mums and dads with good taste in music!
Ananda Shankar was truly ahead of his time. We were in college in Calcutta and his music blew us all. He is the father of Fusion music......it was not jamming as it is today.
You can hear a lot of his influence on the first Cornershop album, thanks for posting this and for all the other ace psych obscurities on your channel...
i have the original vinyl -ananda shankar and his music-from way back from '75!!well technically, it's my dad's!but been in love with it since my high school days!.
