Man, this was great entertaiment, all live, no loops, live music, and yes racism did exist back then (and now), they even joke about it with barbs about the South, the KKK and so forth. Priceless entertianment.
Back then, no one saw this as being racist....in fact the very word didn't even exist. Everything they did was well rehearsed in advanced...believe it.
@francinemegan .....yeah i heard or read awhile ago that when Frank went to see Sammy on his deathbed, Sammy had a big lump on the side of his neck from throat cancer and it really bothered Sinatra to see his friend in that condition.
Priceless. Nothing like it then, nothing like it now! They owned the Strip. All of his friends were under contract w/Reprise Records. They owed their "lively"-hood to Frank. It was really his show and they were along for the ride. And what a sweet ride it was!
Yes it is called comedy, these guys would have died for each other, that is missing today too critical of racism, thats why there are no true entertainers today
Dean really hated playing the straight man you can see this here..Why him and Lewis probably broke up dean was his own funny man!!
