  • Just Beautiful...

  • ill cross the sky for your love his love will last forever god bless us all

  • Nice. This song is like rain to a desert wasteland. That's all I can say.

  • a cavalry dispatched. can not rescue me. I tire of the burden. The viscious lust for vengance here. I want to be free. arrows fired in mock justice. and my shield is cast. Though I secretly wish my defenses were past. I long to cast my gaze upon another sky, yet afraid to simply die.

  • @Ausiegingerkid That's right on man.

  • take my hand

  • Absolute gold.

  • A statue is not made, it is always there within the rock, the artist simply chips away the excess stone that is not required. The same can be said for a song. Thank god U2 found this one. Well done Chaps!!!

  • @casemaster333 you guys rock!

  • i was looking this song for years, it's just masterpiece

  • te amo ariadna

  • ARIADNA, SE QUE NO FUI EL MEJOR, ESTOY AHOGANDOME, Y ES IMPOSIBLE Q HOY ME QUIERAS TOMAS DE LA MANO. ESTA CANCION ES LO UNICO Q TENGO

  • Why haven't they never played this live for fuck sake?? Today it still fucking stands, massive.

  • This CERTAINLY is the best album of all time, ain't no 'doubt, they were young, hungry and full of the passion (and intelligence) that makes the best art

  • Bono's voice gives me shivers

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!! his voice is so beautiful, the instrumentals are magical and unlike anyother

  • Real Celtic touch to this one, without a doubt a lot of Gaelic poetic influences here, best song on this album.

  • edge + guitar = GENIUS!

  • A gr8at song from u2.So much emotion and feeling in this song.

This is what music is supposed to do, stir emotion.

  • Best U2 song ever!!

  • this is U2 in their prime....the first five alblums are epic... the rest is just a paycheck

  • Isaiah 40

The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.

29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.

    30 Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;

31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint

  • What a F@*kin song this is, probably the finest U2 have ever written.

  • WAR!

    Starbucks [SBUX] vs. Starbuds [SBUD]

  • tthe electric violin played at the end of this song is absolutely beautiful

  • amo esta cancion esto es de los mejores pop q hubo lastima q u2 decayera tanto

  • My fave song ever by U2 - I still love it now after first hearing it in the 80's - 1 dislike - get ur ears cleaned out you dope!

  • This has been my fave song ever since i first heard it in my friends bedroom in about '86.

    Loved it ever since

  • Love 2:20 onwards. Beautiful when the vocals come in

  • love song???? this transcends, far greater in depth and emotion.

    Bono's one helluva singer

  • This song gets to me. So incredibly beautiful. I read in the book U2 by U2 this is one of their favorites. They said if they could go back, they wouldn't change a thing about this track.

  • Rise up...rise up, with wings of eagles!

*** Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint

  • 1 guy is a Drowning Man

  • Take my hand, Miriam...........my love will last forever

  • For me the best album of U2 with Boy, October and Achtung Baby

  • So beautiful. Timeless. Underrated.

  • Stunningly exquisite in all aspects...Bravo

  • Take my hand.........

  • This is the most underrated song in the entire world <3

  • best U2 song, ever. period. saw them almost a dozen times. never saw this song live, and i always wondered why.

  • I remember working on a fruit farm when I was about 14.

On my way home one day, this song came into my head, and I ran the last mile home in order to listen to it (on vinyl).

    One of their best.

  • The best U2 albums of all time.

    1. Achtung Baby

    2. Joshua Tree

    3. War

  • One of the best songs ever!!

  • its easy to list this as a favorite. the whole album is so powerful. if youre a fan of music and listen to ''new years day'' then you will eventually discover this song... like i did. it is so moving that i have trouble listening to it sometimes

  • After they did the Joshua Tree, the Edge stated this was his favorite song.

  • Proof that U2 is perfection !

  • Repeat & repeat & repeat...day in and day out..

  • this song is like crack.. its a real addiction! I mean wtf! its fucking awesome.. not that I would know what crack is like.. im just saying.. Its like weed too, gets you higher then a kite! Its beautiful.. *takes deep sigh, drowns within self*

  • amo esta cancion

una de las canciones con mayor desesperación y aferramiento a la pareja,

  • I love this song - really wanted tell you complete strangers why but realise I'd look like a complete twat. Also love unforgettable fire.

  • sorry to announce my drunkness. this song is really good. its really powerful

  • its the best fucking song ever from the best fucking album ever

  • @OralAgreement69

I'm guessing (from the removed message) that you figured out that I was saying that "The Joshua Tree" felt overproduced to me, not "War". I love War; it's an amazing album. I do like TJT as well, but it doesn't have the same magic that War has, not for me, anyway.

  • @OralAgreement69 Oh yes!

  • @OralAgreement69 well said.

  • @OralAgreement69 you said it man.

  • wow, the fact that phil knows this song is amazing

  • this song is right up there ...

  • This is one of the best u2 songs.I can stay listening to this song all day long.

  • Papa Bono I quand'era in forma...

  • this album is a classic, but this song is the that got played the most for me. i couldn't get enough of it. haunting, ethereal, and i love the acoustic guitar in it. just a beautiful beautiful song.

  • this song is very close to how i feel christ speaks to me

  • @cmgraceland Excellent post!!! I can agree with that !!!

  • @cmgraceland i never thought that it could be christ, but i see how it could be now. good insight.

  • 1984 <3

  • A song that reminds me of my cousin no longer here eternal love

  • Only 14,827 views?? This has got to be one of the most passionate songs that U2 has ever sung......

  • endless deep

  • I think, I´, gonna cry...

  • Goddamn really early U2 was awesome

  • this is one of there best songs, but they lost the magic after their fourth album.

  • @theincubus60 After their fifth, c'mon man, Joshua Tree is the classic U2 album

  • @rcameronswindsor

Maybe the most famous, but not their best. It's too slick and overproduced imo. The raw passion and emotion on "War" was never matched. I think it's by far their best album. If you were introduced to U2 through The Joshua Tree, you were too late...

  • @KaitainCPS I can respect that, I think War is a great album, it's my second favorite by them. However I feel that TJT is a masterpiece and the pinnacle of their songwriting abilities pretty much a mix of everything that was great from their first four. Having said that at the end of the day all that matters is they're awesome.

  • @theincubus60

    Agreed.

  • u2 Masterpiece!!!

  • great tune, great vocal!

  • quality..larry playing with brushes..ala de freitas, beautiful song..very drumatic..u2s ocean rain

  • Phil Anselmo from Pantera/Down lists this as one of his favorite songs of all-time.

  • @TheSacredcow024 its hard to understand actually

  • @roycl the song is not that good imo

  • @TheSacredcow024 That's fantastic mate, It's amazing to know that even musicians from a genre that I'm not really into - metal, love U2 :D

  • @TheSacredcow024

    Anselmo has great taste.

I remember running home from work just to listen to this song when I was 14 (Summer job).

    One of their best.

  • @TheSacredcow024 I can imagine! :) Didn't expect Phil to listen to this though

  • I grew up with this track ringing in my ears as an adolescent - an absolute classic with 11 oclock tick tock which at the time it was trendy (as Rick in the Young Ones) to have button badges but nobody had heard of U2 apart from me as I always listened to the late John Peel so I had to make my own..........

  • @efc327 ..you must love half man half biscuit then......shes got dickie davis eyes....all i want for christmas is a dukla prague away kit..class...if not ...teenage kicks, the undertones

  • Do you remember when you were drowning in the sea of sin

Going down for the last time when you called on His name

He reached out His nail pierced hands and He lifted you out

So remember where you were back then

And thank Him for where you are now - from "GIVE HIM THE GLORY"

  • @drhat123

Very well put. This is a homage to the Lord's greatness, yet in a humbling and repentant way of expression. He said, I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.

  • this song is one of their hidden gems - a shame really!

  • Thanks for uploading awesomenessk. If I had to pick a favorite song from War, I think Drowning Man might be it.

  • @Keruaran what about "Sunday Bloody Sunday"?

  • @UnexpectedWonder

Of course I like Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Seconds, New Years Day, Surrender, 40... But I've always thought Drowning Man was really something else... I love Edge's acoustic on this and Adam Claytons dark brooding bassline. Bono is in fine form and the electric violins work well. Its dark and dramatic yet speaks of courage and endurance. This song, possibly more than others on War, foreshadows what will become signiature sounds for U2. Especially Adam's bass.

  • @Keruaran Understood. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" has got 2 be 1 of the Greatest Songs of All-time. u cannot only Hear the Emotion, but u can Feel the Struggle of the Massacre, even within urself. a Clear portrayal of the Story with a Vivid Message of Peace.

  • @Keruaran It's good... but it doesn't compare to 'Like A Song'

  • such a beautiful song
