  • The power of performance. Patrick Stewart didn't say a word in this movie or Smiley's People, but conveyed everything with his manner. Incredible

  • Obi-Wan Kenobi meeting Jean-Luc Picard. Ultimatly, both were able to outwitt each other.

  • Patrick Stewart looks younger now!

  • There...Are...Four...Lights!

  • This is from 1979, not 1974 surely?

  • @Thermaland, sure it was 1979 for the series and 1974 for the book. Thanks.

  • My name is Captain Picard from the Starship Enterprise. My crew and I are on a 5 year mission to boldly go where no man has gone before.

  • This is the 4th video on your YouTube Channel from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. And all of them are so nicely done! And I'm very grateful you've chosen the classic 1974 version, not this newest remake. Alec Guinness was an absolute perfect match to George Smiley's character. Please keep posting!

  • @AgnoramusAvoid, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • FYI, that is Patrick Stewart as Karla.

  • @dccarles, I’m sick and tired of such commentators like you. The “Soviet Spy in Prison” is a title of this particular video and the name of A.Guinness means his leading role in this scene. Don’t you think that only you can make a difference between A.Guinness and P.Stewart? And by the way try to do something yourself on YouTube, and not just watching and making stupid rude comments about the other people’s videos since the year 2007.

  • @VindobonaNorikum2 I never intended to sound like a smartass. I was just so pleasantly surprised to see Patrick Stewart I thought I would mention it in case other people hadn't noticed; non-speaking roles aren't always credited. Thank you very much for putting this up; I enjoyed it very much.

  • @dccarles, thank you very much for your comment. I'm completely agree with your opinion concerning non-speaking roles. And I do apologize that the "FYI" ("for your information") I mistakenly misinterpreted - at first place I thought you calling me names and it drove me mad. I'm going to upload some other my favorite scenes from this serial, and let me hope you'll enjoy it.

  • @VindobonaNorikum2 Not a problem: I got the impression you were speaking to that breed of Youtube troglodyte we all know and love so well, and had inferred from some of my past comments I was exactly that kind of idiot. I've said as many nice things about videos as I have not-nice things, but in future I will think twice about how I phrase things. Don't let them wear you down.

  • @VindobonaNorikum2 gr8 to see this and i like your apology even more. I once watched the entire series backtoback w/ The Spy Who came in from Cold. "What are your qualifications?" "Half a bottle of whisky a day!" Good old Richard Burton :-)

  • @1stmissingsnowman, it seems to me that we are the last from the old guard. The Cold War time looks so sentimentally decent in our days, doesn't it?

  • @VindobonaNorikum2 Decent but with a ruthless undercurrent. Moscow Rules even. just got back from watching the new version. Very good (quite excellent in fact) but a couple of flaws... They did well to have the old Trebor Mints wrapper but they couldn't source a pre-1980's milk bottle? and I'm pretty sure they didn't have one hour / while you wait / vision express type opticians in those days ;-)

  • @1stmissingsnowman

I really enjoyed the new film, but now you point out the milk bottle was wrong I'm changing my entire opinion about it. Awful film. Christ on a bike...
