  • That's what I loved about hardcore. It seemed to be people who simultaneously cared too much, yet didn't give a shit.

  • name of first song?

  • He said "if you're looking for radicalism in the 1980's you should look at hardcore".

  • lmao and how did crust come to be? haha

  • thats true , chaotic dischord, G.B.H., discharge, varukers, dogsflesh were pretty hardcore and fast!!!

crossover thrash is just as good

  • y de donde crees tu que surgio el Crossover Thrash?

El Hardcore punk es la base del Crossover

    IDIOT!

  • SPEAK ENGILSH PUTO

  • Anti-mainstream! Fuck disco-geeks!

  • 1:10 what the soundtrack??

  • That's D.O.A.'s "The Prisoner".

I like their latest stuff better quite frankly, but that's one of the good songs from their early years. That and "World War 3".

  • damn right brother!

  • Favorite Quote: "normal people didn't listen to hardcore...and we liked it that way!"

    So True

  • Yeah, we didi!

  • Hardcore has certainly evolved over the past 20 years(And no, i don't mean screamo). Going to shows seeing all these new "toughguy" hardcore bands(down to nothing, kids like us, chain of strength, etc.) over the past years might have been a little different from the Hardcore-punk bands from the 80s. But after watching this film, i found i had the same exact thoughts on today's scene as they did about theirs, its so amazing how that works out. For example, when they relate cities to bands.

  • HOLY FUCK!

I want a poster of the map at 1:13

    Oi!

    iAntiFa!

  • what radio station is american hardcore if thers not tell me wat radio station is punk

  • AMERICAN HARDCORE STARTED PLAYING FAST, AND SING FAST, NO EUROPEAN BAND WAS DOING THAT, NOT EVEN ONE, DURING THE LATE 70s, DISCHARGE WAS MAYBE TUFF, BUT NOT FAST, I LIKE BRITISH PUNK BUT THEY BITCHED 2 MUCH, 2 MUCH ABOUT POLITICS, AND ANARCHY, LIKE MAN, TALK ABOUT OSME REAL SHIT THAT US KIDS GO THROUGH, AND AMERICAN HARDCORE WAS ABOUT HOPE, IF U THINK ABOUT IT, THERES A LOT OF DOPE BANDS THAT WAS SAYING "KEEP YOUR HEAD UP" NOT ABOUT HIPPY SHIT.

  • Well, there was...

Discharge played a style similar to early black flag before Cal joined. and have you heard hear see say? Isnt that fast? have you heard Asta Kask(poppy yes but formed late 70's)

    Anti Cimex, Moderat Likvidation, Shitlickers.

Anti Cimex members started in 1979 to put together bands, ML 1980, Shitlickers 81, and if you heard the work made by especially shitlickers, it's still is something of the rawest ever made.

And the truth is, there is "no hope".Amercians bitch equally much

  • on the brits, so...and many of the british was equally fast. Abrasive wheels, for one...

  • yeah but discharge still isnt hardcore hardcore started in the USA..............more specifically california

  • discharge are UK punk........

  • UK hardcore, UK punk is more bands like Uproar...doesn't matter if you call Discharge punk or hardcore though, they were still rawer and more aggressive than many american "hardcore" bands

  • @JAYDED stop fuckin' giving genre to every band and just fuckin enjoy the music and the vibe from it, the message, if you think it sounds hardcore punk, then its ok , i mean hardcore basement=punk music

  • @JAYDED discharge was hardcore a bit later on but they weren't first. we all know L.A. WAS

  • I've seen this documentary a couple of times, it kicks ass!!!

  • finally watched this movie, it IS bitchin lol

  • this movie looks bitchin, its coming in the mail in a few days, im fuckin stoked

  • ^ dude for real!

it was on comcast on demand for free a while ago, hah

  • the book is sick

  • i just ordered this, cant wait man

  • this is a sort of rock listen to dutch hardcore thats harder then this !!:P

  • dude fuck you this is the music that started all the shit blow it out your ass

  • I hope you are talking about bands like Lärm, BGK, and Gepopel then, and not that fucking techno crap. That has nothing to do with hardcore, hardcore=hardcore punk. Learn some music

  • actually they got some electronic genres that fuse with punk music

  • yeah but punk should be made by people and not...well. It's more similar to techno and hardcore, atleast in my ears.

  • This looks like some good footage and interviews about a time that I was having big fun on a non-existent budget. Is this thing out on Beta/VHS/DVD/Blacklung or the latest format? It's amusing that the end music was 'The Prisoner' by D.O.A. (Canadian, eh?) Well, it is North America, if someone wants to split hairs....

  • Call this hardcore!! Wtf!! stupid fuckin twat Yanks check out Uk Hardcore!! yer m8#!!

  • Are you kidding me? You're a fucking retard.

  • oh dear fuck u fuckin scum bag!!

    god i fuckin hate yanks!!

    cunts!!

  • @HeadlessPony you fucking douchebag, think you are superior? but hardcore is not about beying more hardcore than you stupid moron, hardcore punk is loud, fast ,aggressive punk rock music, engaged for an exemple , antifacist lyrics, anti nazi, anti war, this scene is about unity , respect, no white power, anti-nazi, anti police, anti war ,if you think that you are more hardcore than everyone because youre grindcore or what the fuck youre genre is, then youre so far from beying hardcore, ..wannabe

  • @Melvin0082

    What?

  • uk hxc is wack the only kool uk hxc is 'chaos uk'

  • Wtf Dude are u crazy!

Chaos uk is really good band but wtf Disorder

Discharge One way system Uk Subs! dude REeally listen to more shit! uk 82 is the shit!

  • your right man disorder's pretty good

but im all about american hxc..

i like uk i dont have nothing against them but id rather listen to sumthing 4rm my country you know?:)

  • without us "twat yanks" there would be no uk hardcore. learn your shit

  • It would be. Discharge created a new sound with realities of war in 1980, and it was not influenced by the USA. And way more european bands got influenced by Discharge and not Bad Brains. What you see as hardcore(Minor Threat, bad brains etc) is only seen as punk in sweden. Just saying that the american bands are not so influential as people think, neither is sex pistols.

  • that is a matter of opinion but mdc makes discharge sound like the beatles

  • MDC is good as hell, and faster, but Discharge has a more angrier sound. and Antisect make MDC sounds like the beatles in return.

Anyways. Swedish hardcore makes both Discharge and MDC sound like kids. well not Discharge though, even if their sound is way more brutal than them

  • check out Crude SS, Asocial, Shitlickers, Anti Cimex, No Security, Moderat Likvidation, Totalitär, SOD, Black Uniforms, Svart Parad, Tatuerade Snutkukar, Snobbslakt, Discard, Avskum, Disarm, Röjers, Mob 47, Crudity, Agoni, ProtesBengt, and you see what I mean...Siege is the best "competitor" to swedish hc as the US have

  • Not to dismiss Discharge's lyrics, but to my ear their music is dull and unimaginitve, kind of like GBH. Bands like Rudimentary Peni, Amebix, or Crass of course created a compelling blend of message and musical creativity. As did bands from other parts of europe, the U.S. and South America as well. But, this is a film about American hardcore.

  • I think a liitle the same about Discharge's earliest 7'' but cant deny that Why and HNSNSN was something totally new. I like RP and Amebix a lot but find Amebix a little too slow, but crass is way too lame and monotone for me, never been able to stand them. GBH is good but I have heard them too much(they're kinda mainstream and are what you listen to all the time when you just got in to punk)

I think the most famous US hc's sounds like normal punk, if they are hc then so is Oi, and bands like->

  • >Asta Kask too. The american hc's that really deserves more attention is bands like AOF, Offenders, Crucifix, Siege, SSD, etc...

And also I'm not talking about only Discharge, but other britbands, like Antisect, Antisystem, Varukers(not earliest)etc...

unimagitive or not, I think the opposite, they are still rawer than most of the faous US bands, that only are punk rock slightly sped up. Hardcore is something completely different

  • @JaiHole you fucking douchebag, think you are superior? but hardcore is not about beying more hardcore than you stupid moron, hardcore punk is loud, fast ,aggressive punk rock music, engaged for an exemple , antifacist lyrics, anti nazi, anti war, this scene is about unity , respect, no white power, anti-nazi, anti police, anti war ,if you think that you are more hardcore than everyone because youre grindcore or what the fuck youre genre is, then youre so far from beying hardcore, ..wannabe

  • @Melvin0082 ...douchebag?... your definately a Yank! dirty Basterd! Die! that will be all!
