i always wanted to make animations, but my skill sucked so,i stopped trying...it's bad that something you want sometimes isn't reachable...btw i believe too that the animations really give you the opportunity to see and feel things you won't in real life.
Oh gosh, your senior work looks pretty heavy stuff. And yeah, can see that the animation is better than your junior year work. Interesting to see how pencil tests look like for study, being an animation student.
I think the design of the characters are brilliant! Especially the god with four arms!! Even though you said you didn't know what to do with the arms, it really looked good, and full of personality!!
I wish to work with animation, but character design is one of my weaker sides.. I'm trying to build on it.
Any advice you have for steps I should take while learning to animate? I apologise for the long comment!! You can pm me, if you wish to reply
ahh i wish i could animate and draw, tried to couple years back, but im just not and drawer, i cant get the shapes or the angles, oh well at least i found out what im good at, and thats music~
These are very nice little snipits. I'm glad you decided to share them ^_^ I'm thinking of taking a 2D animations course in university in 2-3 years time (if my current course goes well).
Yes and no. I worked for a little less than a year for Camp Chaos working on a flash show called VH1 Ill-ustrated. And then I worked for a very short time on the Classical Baby series for HBO. But in all, that was only about a year and a half total. Then when I couldn't find any more work, I became a teacher.
A light board is the best friend of an animator. It lets you see through 3-4 layers of paper at a time. To keep it simple, you draw the most important key frames first, then fill in the drawings in between. The darker, more messy drawings were the key frames. The rest is just math.
I just have a tiny one, but a full rotating animators table costs hundreds. To be honest, a digital tablet is the way to go. I just never got the hang of drawing on one yet.

do you still use this technique or do you flash?
Daswede92 2 years ago
frame-by-frame animation is very time consuming. I haven't done any since school. Since then everything I've done has been in flash.
CirrusEpix 2 years ago
Okay, neat :)

I love your work so much! Both reviewing and drawing and animating... your so amazing!

I did, years ago. But the industry changed and I never got lucky. Instead I am now an art teacher and I rarely look back at what could have been.

Thats great the only question i have is that how do you keep from resizing or misplace your characters when you have to draw every frame?

Thats cool but around how much does a light board cost?
You see ive been wanting and practicing to be an animator for 3 years now and i've been using a tablet and macromedia flash 8
