  • This was CHICAGO - enjoy

  • no wonder terry kath was jimi hendrix favorite

  • One of the BEST horn sections if not the BEST in music history with a TRUE ROCK band. Amazing. This is a TRUE rock band. Fuck the Roch n Roll Hall hall of fame they should have their own Hall. Chiocago out classes all of the other bands combined -- that includes the Beatles Aerosmith, Stones, Floyd, Rush, Kansas, Kiss and Others.

  • we with Chicago till death.

  • ¡¡¡temazo!!!

  • it's 5-th album!

  • This was CHICAGO at their finest, the Chicago I grew up to and attended the concerts of. For those who remain and those they have brought aboard, they are still a very great band, but just not the Chicago that I loved from the 70's.

  • GOD BLESS YOU TERRY KATH - you were the heart and soul of this band!

  • nice rare chicago tune to see and hear here. not just the hits. nice.

  • Chicago V!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the high def post...in many ways Chicago V was the high mark for these guys. Cetera's ballad period was still years in the future and Kath was still rippin' the Ray Charles vocals with the Hendrix leads. Lamm was coming up with incredible songs as well. I've never diss'ed them for anything they've done post Kath as I know it was total survival for their career's.

  • One of the great "show case" songs from Chicago's early days. Especially loved Terry Kath's rhythm guitar work (album ver.)

  • amazing bans , the best of rock

lejos mi banda de rock clasico la fusion jazz rock que hacen es unica

  • Chicago V kicks ass!!!

  • This is the best CHICAGO song sung by TERRY KATH.

  • @psychodelicrock12 Hey, wait a minute I'll have to disagree. Hour in the shower and great spirit were better I think.

  • I LOVE this version of the Chicago V classic!!! Tight and flawless... As they were.. THIS was Chicago's PUREST incarnation/lineup...

  • best horn arrangement ever!

horns + rock = perfect combination

  • Great song the time signatuers in this song are nuts!

  • gotta love that sax solo!

  • @islandgrrl09 You are so right. Walt RULES!!!!!!!!!!

  • Classics like this are ageless....no simulated brass, real lyrics, truly an original score from musicians with real talent....

  • re: 01/31...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Terry Kath!! I know you're in Heaven enjoying it, too...

  • TERRY KATH!!! THAT'S IT!!!

  • This was when the REAL chicago played Kath, Cetera, Lamm on shared vocals was the best damn sound ever

  • Great video and song! Thanks for posting! The seven original members of Chicago have the most musical talent ever assembled in one band. Never received the credit they deserved. How is it possible for them not to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! Totally unbelievable! There will never be another one like them.

  • This song is probably my favorite horn piece of their whole catalogue. The Coltrane-ish solo by Walter was amazing!! It helped my get turned on to my father's jazz record collection, and I've been into it like crazy since!

  • @blueznjazz123 He plays the same run over about 10 times.

  • am i mistaken, or did they play this in their 2008 spring concerts?

  • I couldn't get enough of these guys! From 1970 to about 1975, went to at least ten of their concerts. The first being at the Steel Pier in AC - Summer of 1970. These guys were NEVER on TV back then! NEVER! You either had to buy their albums or you had to buy tickets for their concerts!

  • They never appeared on routine musical shows (Midnight Special) but Chicago has several televisions specials of their own. The primetime Chicago in the Rockies and also Meanwhile Back At The Ranch. Their own New Year's Eve Special in '74 was also very cool.

  • Excellent example of just how powerful Chicago was with its original band line up, featuring Terry Kath & Pete Cetera!! They both made an incredible difference in all of the music!!

Long live the legend of Terry Kath's awesome guitar work & vocals.......

  • walter is on fire!!! they're awesome! love hearing all the instruments!

  • What an amazing drummer, what a swinh he had. the faboulous Danny Seraphine!

  • It's so wonderful - Chicago at its best! And so marvellous to see good ol' Terry Kath again...

  • It occurs to me that Terry Kath is to Chicago what Keith Moon was to "The Who".

Roger Daltrey of "The Who" often referred to Keith's drumming as a steam engine powering the band's sound.

Btw this is one of their best live performances.

Much in the same way Terry Kath's constant power strumming on his guitar was an immense driving force in this original line up's sound.

  • Love this chorus. Nice job Sopranoppc for having it for us to enjoy. Chicago is one of my favorite bands that can never be replaced. Think about it,,,,, there is no other groups ever... like them. One of a kind.

  • Love That chorus !! Love the different dynamics in this song.Amazing original material...Rhino or the band themselves should revisit the plan to release of that "Scrapbook" DVD !!!!

  • Not much more you can say about the early years of Chicago. Just freakin' awesome. Thanks so much sopranoppc for this great video.

  • My first time to see this awesome live performance of one of 3 favorite tunes from Chicago V (1972), the other 2 being "All is Well" and "Goodbye". This song was composed by trombonist James Pankow. Kudos for this upload!

  • Brilliant!

  • This is super. The level of instrumentation is awesome as well as the lead and group vocals. I especially like Pete, Bobby and Terry singing together. Awesome.

  • I dismissed the idea of supergroup back then ...now I know what they meant! Crikey! Will we ever see such creativity and musicianship in one ensemble ever again?

  • Never hypno59, never before, never in the future. This is the One and Only Chicago, "The Magnificent Seven"

  • yeah of course kath was great but how 'boutthe rest of these guys..wholly chit mon

  • Ahh, takes me back to my youth when I stood right in front of these guys while they played. Miss the old Chicago, but I'm thankful I can revisit them in this way.

  • I'm left ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS by this clip... MY Chicago in all of their SHINING GLORY that CANNOT be duplicated.. We don't have Terry or Peter or Danny now...

  • Wheeeew!

    Walt is sooooo great.

    I'm blown away!!!

  • Man oh Man what can you say about Chicago that hasn't already been said a thousand times already. Loved em in high school in the 70's and still love em today.

But I fully agree with the other posts here, there will never be another Terry Kath. RIP

  • "Was it years ago , or just a day ?" Chicago in their prime. there NEVER will be another Terry Kath. that being said, let's enjoy the hell out of what we have here in video form.

  • All members coming together as one cohesive unit. First I get focused on Danny's brilliant drums, then Terry's vocals and guitar commands attention. Lamm's keyboards are great and suddenly at 2:50, as you're amazed by the horns, you notice that Cetera is a great bass player. This song has it all. Great performance.

  • All those clowns (wannabees) that just wrapped up the latest season of American Idol should watch this band to see what real musicians are really like.

  • man o man....talk about doin it right live.....This was an amazing performance. Back in those days 69-76...These guys were the best cohesive touring unit in the business. Like Danny told me: "Don't resent what they have become, Just remember how good it used to be" and brother they were pretty damn good.

  • Is there something much better than this?

  • The complete package. World class all the way.

  • We miss you Terry!!!

  • Was that Bill Bixby in the audience with the glasses? Hahahaha

  • Chicago, the Omni Atlanta GA 1975. awesome! i'll never forget it!

  • great old chicago stuff!

  • I agree, V is one of the best Chicago albums. I bought the LP in 72 and as a drummer I've always loved the Danny Serphine intro to this song. I need this video and all the other classic era stuff on YouTube!!!!!

  • What a great Chicago song. One of my all-time favorites. It was on the jukebox of this crappy bar I used to work in back in '72, and I'd put it on and really crank it to help clear the bar at closing time. They couldn't

handle Walt's amazing solo. Thanks guys!

  • This tune is WALTASTIC!

  • The "Real" Chicago. God bless Terry Kath.

  • cool

  • awesome superb no further superlatives this is "CHICAGO" !

  • Chi should add this to the current concert setlist for the fans who remember awesome tunes like this!

  • chicago V is chicago´s best album - besides chicago II maybe

  • Chicago V is one of my all-time beginning to end albums (or CDs if you prefer). it's in my car right now.

  • I bought the Chicago V CD reissue in Dec '04 and it has been in my car since. Going on 3 years in the car. "Now That You've Gone" loud, with windows all the way up!!!

  • Terry must have been sweating his balls off in the polyester, big-collared shirt underneath the leisure suit.

I had that ensemble in three or four colors.

  • Best fashion ever!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love Terry's "Napolean Dynamite" suit. Sweet!

  • I loved Chicago "V" because it was so sophisticated; they used unusual time signatures on almost every song.

  • Sopranoppc, Thanks for posting this amazing vid! Two thumbs up + five stars!

  • thanks very much...glad you like it..ive always loved this one too..

  • Sopranoppc! Thanks for posting this. Another song I'd forgotten about. Walt was great on this one.

  • desagree, it's SEVEN stars! Seven STARS on stage!!!

  • one of the GREATEST Chicago songs ever.

Pankow was inspired on the 5th album.

  • I agree one of the very best.
