Human beings on a general level can be sickening. They can also be kind, courageous, and self-sacrificing. I know many such men and women, both civilian and military. You grow close with those you serve with. I know people all over the world from my time in the service. It becomes an extended family. My mom sent me that same picture right after we got back from Iraq. It was in a tribute email I couldn't believe my eyes and told her who they were.
