Celine can sing with soul-I was blown away when I found the clip of her singing Summertime-pre-90's I think. She flubbed the words and probably didn't know English at the time-but she was feeling it. This one just didn't work for me. Technically great I suppose-but watch Whitney cover it-or even Kelly Clarkson.

@sassymonsterO And your response wasn't researched or intellectually correct at all. Mariah's last two albums that flopped completely contradicts what you said about her music selling. Which is probably why Celine is the best selling female artist and Mariah is not.

I'm on the fence right now as far as Mariah getting her voice back, she sounded great at her ABC special, but I doubt it'll last long. Seems she needs to sleep a month before a performance to sound good anymore.

I'd like to see how Celine sings this song in 2010 as opposed to 1997. She has been one of the most consistent divas of the new musical generation... and even though she's my favourite singer and 1 of my idols, this song is just better preformed by Aretha and Whitney back in the day.

Also I forgot to mention, she has a voice quality that gives celine her own edge, it is her "Bee Gees" like vocal sound. Which is a characteristic of her natural voice.

about the wardrobe, celine dressed like that because she saw her salf as a female "michael jackson" in the sense that she had a very different child hood, she has been on tv since a very early age and so on. Also she idolised michael, the album unison is proof that Michaels was a influence on celine. listen to tracks like unison and so on.

Celines influences are mainly Barbra, Aretha, Michael and Whitney as she grew older.

Her singing style is a combinations of the singers mentioned above.
