  • ok, the humans get all the credit, but what about the cat? he should have top billing!!

    "Staring everyone's favorite: Mr Kitty!!!"

  • should be a hint that Doug E Doug having a lead role in a film was a piece of shit. I dont even need to look at it. ROFL

  • siskel's cat comment cracked me up

  • "Shockingly bad!".; By that, he means 'Batman & Robin'.

  • Why isn't 'Batman & Robin' on this list???

  • Alien 3 was bad, but you can't blame anyone really on that. That movie was DOA from the start. There was no way after all the director changes, set re-designs and script rewrites that that movie was gonna be anything more than a complete mess. I think Alien Resurrection deserves to get more flak because it was made bad the honest way, without any of the issues that A3 had.

  • 'Flubber' is on this list????????..........

  • I did not think Alien 3 was that bad. It had some great gore in it. If you are expecting a movie where giant acid blooded aliens go around and kill everyone than Aliens 3 delivers.

  • I liked Buddy! It was the first movie my grandparents took me to see in theatres.

  • "I mean this is STUPID" you tell em Siskel

  • Yep. 'Mad City' was pompous and dull. But I thought 'Alien Resurrection' was pretty good.

  • I didn't hate Alien 3 or Alien Resurrection. There were things about boths movies that I liked.

  • That Old Feeling was one of THE most irritating movies I've ever seen.

  • That Old Feeling: Hold it! That was a hilarious interaction between Dennis Farina and Bette Midler especially when they were overbearing to one another. I enjoyed some of the supporting performances but otherwise this is just a mildly humorous film saved by Midler and Farina **1/2

  • Wild America: Three bland performers, a script of fantasy and a last 20 min felt like the director took a sleeping pill and went on autopilot. *1/2

Buddy: Uh, how was this greenlit? Rene Russo must have fell for the apes and signed on. Too bad the audience didn't as it didn't make sense or enjoyable *1/2

That Darn Cat: Doug E. Doug as a detective? No thank you and cardboard villains again. 1997 wasn't a good year for Disney.

  • The Jackal: Most disappointing film of 1997. Such an uneven pace, sparse action sequences and a clueless performance by Richard Gere. Bruce Willis was the best part but that's not saying much *1/2

Mad City. While the performances were solid, it couldn't save it's superficial and beyond ridiculous script. With a howler of an ending. *1/2

The Man Who Knew Too Little: I think we should call off Spy spoof that doesn't involve Austin Powers. Bill Murray looked bored halfway and so was I *1/2

  • I agree with Gene. "The Man Who Knew Too Little" was so freaking bad.

  • COOL FACT!!!: That Darn Cat, Alien Ressurection, and Flubber all came out the same Friday.

  • I liked Mad City.

  • But...but...I love Alien Resurrection.

    "You're a beautiful, byoooooooootiful butterfly!!"

  • I liked Buddy, and Flubber

  • BAPS was ADAM

    A Dumb Ass Movie

  • Starship Troopers is a masterpiece.

  • @tylermane77 HALLELUJAH!!!

  • call the vet = Benji the hunted!! Roger!!!! lol

  • Oh my Gooooooooooooooooooooood

  • Siskel and Ebert both hated Alien 3 so saying Alien Resurrection is better than Alien 3 doesn't make some kind of point.

  • Those animal comedies are almost always unbearable.

  • Wow. So far I agree with them all. Rare for S & E. I especially hated Wild America.

  • Comment removed

  • Ahh, I miss Siskel. So much better than Roeper.

  • Never seen Alien Resurrection, but it HAS to be better than the crapfest that was Alien 3.

  • @lurch321 No, it wasn't. Alien 3 is like the ugly person who actually looks kinda cute when standing next to Alien Resurrection.

  • @lurch321 I liked Alien Resurrection better than the boring, depressing mess that was Alien 3

  • @lurch321

I actually saw Alien:RESURRECTION. While it wasn't as good as the first two, it was indeed better than Alien 3.

Then again, that's not saying much...

  • @UdoShan I agree. I hated Alien 3. The first two Alien movies were awesome.

  • @UdoShan I only stick with the first two.

  • I like that Gene Siskel calls them "would-be comedies"

  • Yeah, "Buddy" was GARBAGE! I actually received that movie FREE with a box of cereal. No Joke.

  • what the heck. alien resurrection was awesome!

  • @roxieheart100 Glad someone else besides me thinks that. I for one thought ALIEN RESURRECTION was way better than ALIEN 3.

  • I liked the Man who knew too little

  • @100domathon me too, i always wondered why people hated it

  • OMFG. BAPS??

  • A Thousand Acres was a good film. The rest of the films are horrible.

  • @soybomb: Your sarcasm has been noted. *sigh* I'm just sick and tired of everybody automatically hating a movie just cause it is a sequel or a remake.

  • I thought that the Flubber and the That Darn Cat remakes were okay. I didn't think they were that horrible. But, meh professional critics have always been so picky. Heck, I bet they hate every single remake and sequel even the good ones and there have been some good remakes and sequels like Disney's The Rescuers Down Under. Not a bad sequel at all. Oh and let us not forget Pixar's Toy Story 3, another great sequel.

  • @Vanisherishere Yeah. Critics sure hated the Toy Story sequels.

  • LOL I actually saw Alien Resurrection and Flubber in the same Saturday afternoon as a kid

  • @AhmadAlony123 Thanks, doctor.

  • @AhmadAlony123 thats fucked up bro

  • Aw, Flubber was cute.

  • "Mad City" wasn't among the best work of either Dustin Hoffman or John Travolta but it didn't deserve being on a 10 worst list. I mean, it was still competently acted and written and so forth. Disappointing, yes. Bad enough to be on a "Worst Movies of the Year" list, no.

  • Good to see Alien Resurrection made the worst of the year list. It is, without a doubt, the worst of the series.

  • @IAmThePartyCrasher well i dont know if you forgot about a peice of shit called Alien Vs Predator

  • Haha, I used to love Wild America. I haven't seen it in so long. Maybe it's about time I rewatch it and see if it really is that awful.

  • i have seen the jackal, you spend the entire film trying to find out what the hell is going on

  • @underbightdog23

Jack Black as a gunsmith, for Christ's sake? A cannon that fires DEPLETED URANIUM bullets, of all things, something that would light up the switchboards of intelligence agencies everywhere, and which no assassin in their right mind would even contemplate? Richard friggin' Gere with a ghastly Irish accent? That movie was like "The Day of the Jackal" re-imagined by a moron. Hey, wait a minute...

  • @textthing hahaha who would by jack black as a gun smith? he is more of a video game nerd than anything.

  • i watched the man who knew too little last night, & i want my hour and a half back.

  • Ooh. Alien Ressurection...I forgot that came out in '97

  • Remaking "Day of the Jackal" is bad enough but casting Jack Black in it? Oh boy...

  • alien resurrection was a great movie

  • @Cropsy25 Yeah I liked it too. What were these two thinking?

  • @tubiewer idk a lot of people have somthing against it but i really dont c whats wrong with it great story great effects i dont get it lol

  • OMG I have The man who knew to little on DVD!!

I shall now shoot my cat to atone for this ...

    sorry cat

  • alien ressurection, and alien 3, are far from being as bad as people make them out to be.there no where near as good as the first too, but they hold up. also, don't blame any of the people involved, blame fox studios. they have had quite the reputation for fucking with people on projects.

  • The Man Who Knew Too Little had a few laughs, at least it wasn't as bad as Larger Than Life.

  • I never realized this, but John Travolta's been in a lot of shitty movies.

  • When was the last time Travolta was in a good movie,

  • @levanyzzuf Uh......... Pulp fiction? lol

  • pulp fiction, face off, thin red line, battlefield earth, wild hogs, old dogs,ok, kidding about the last 3....

  • Flubber i loved as a kid! I realy disagree with them on that!

  • I admire Siskel and Ebert, but I REALLY disagree about their view of Buddy, I LOVED that film as a kid, and it was sort of based on a true story.

  • Flubber, I hardly knew her!

  • hey, Jack Black

  • Oh God....The Jackal. One of the worst movies ever made.

And Richard Gere's accent.....terrible. Almost as bad as Tom Cruise. His character is an ex IRA member who has killed countless people, and yet The Jackal is the guy who is the villain? No, sorry the bith are just as terrible.

  • Dustin Hoffman has made a lot of really bad movies. He's overrated imo

  • I agree. What exactly has he done??? I don't see it. What makes him so great?

  • People seem to like taking shots at Alien Resurrection but i liked that film-dark dystopian atmosphere, colourful cast, slightly offbeat style, tense ending, a good addition to the franchise unlike AVP.

  • @gunninlinguist

The biggest problem is Wynona Ryder. She is just awful. It was a nice twiset to include a female Bishop, but not a smart idea to cast Wynona. The film, I think, would have been decent without her. She just drags the whole thing down. The film is rather poor as it is, decent, but when compared to the earlier efforts, rather poor. But replace Wynona, and it could have been decent.

  • alien on worst list? none of them to me

  • baps is one of the worst pieces of shit i have ever seen. right up there with soul plane and car wash. black people around america can only hang their heads. pootie tang had better dialogue

  • A.R. was awsome

    the birth of Joss Wedon

    LIVE LONG MOTHA FUCKA!!!!!!!

  • B.A.P.S. "Every detail of their journey is rich with ill-advised, and unfunny stereotypes" Isn't that true of every black-people comedy? They're completely insulting to black America, yet they keep making them, and for some reason black people keep paying money to see them?

  • and black people keep writing them (tyler perry, spike lee) and keep acting in them. theres enough blame all around.

  • Flubber was totally lame, likely the WORST movie ever. McDonald's did some shameless promotion of that movie.

  • The Jackal wasn't THAT bad!

  • Well if you compare it to the original classic "The Day of the Jackal", it looks dreadful by comparison, I think. If you haven't seen, check it out.

  • i loved flubber

  • I didn't think Flubber was that bad.

  • "Where is the snow?" Wow. What shit dialogue!

  • I like a lot of these movies!

  • How old were you when you last saw them? I would have the said the same thing when I first saw them, but I was 12 then.

  • Such a dramatic down turn that Gen takes between 1996 and 1997...

Also, notice that he wears the exact same outfit for the 95, 96, and 97 worst of shows??

  • They are way off about "The Man Who Knew Too Little." It might have been a "tired gag" with someone other than Bill Murray.

  • Hold on a second....JACK BLACK?!?

  • @Malco2245 Now you can be surprised when you watch Airborne where he plays a bully...

  • @Malco2245 Don't worry, he gets shot.

  • no Batman and Robin in Bad movies having Good actors?

  • @TatooineBoy Siskel and Ebert gave BAR 2 stars, which is an average rating for a film. All the films they mention have like 1 star or less on here.

  • i remember seeing flubber when i was a little kid

  • I love how Disney still thinks this is a good film!

  • I remember that I saw it when I was a little kid. I don't remember the actual movie at all.

  • Robert Towsend directed "B.A.P.S."?

What the HELL was he thinking!!!!!

  • @UdoShan Probably "still gotta pay off that credit card debt".

  • @mcg413

Yeah, whoever thought there would be a downside to Hollywood Shuffle!

    lol

  • @UdoShan He wasn't thinking hard, a better question would be what was Halle Berry thinking?

  • @Leftysfive93

Unfortunately, Halle Berry is a GREAT actress with questionable choices in scripts. Keep in mind, this is the same woman who brought us (ugh) "Catwoman"!

  • @UdoShan How can she be considered a "GREAT" actress with only a hand full of good performances??? Most of her work has been crap.

  • @qqrk1372

You might have a point there. For every "Monster's Ball" she's done about five "B.A.P.S." This doesn't mean she can't act, it means she needs to pick better scripts!

And let's be honest, you could've had ANY marquee actress do Catwoman, and it would still suck!

  • @UdoShan That's easier said than done. The number of GOOD scripts floating around Hollywood is pretty small. And these actors do have bills to pay so they grab whatever they can get. It's really a shame that talent gets squandered like that.

  • @Leftysfive93 Yeah, you're right about that, there's also Gothika, The Rich Man's Wife, Perfect Stranger and Swordfish to add to that list. She's one of those Academy Award winning actors who makes a load of bad films like Louis Gossett, Jr., Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Ben Kingsley.

  • I'm sure I recall correctly that "Buddy" DVDs were once packahes with boxes of CEREAL!

  • cool thnx alot for loading these videos quality is great i like listening to a critics point of view about films awesome dude or chick

  • any bear still hibernating in august is a dead bear,

  • I liked The Man who Knew Too Little :(

  • You're not the only one.

  • They were mirrored from a earlier uploader, whose account was suspended over a review of a poor film named "Johnny Seriously".

  • FirstMagnitude's account wasn't suspended, he closed his own account on his own terms after 20th Century Fox filed a copyright claim against FirstMagnitude's video for S&E's review of the movie "Johnny Dangerously" (1984). My guess is that the video being removed must have made FirstMagnitude angry enough to the point where he just decided to close the whole account, to avoid other legal nonsense from the copyright holders. What a shame. :(

  • I stand corrected! I can remember a comment added to one of the now-suspended films, but I didn't know he voluntarily removed his channel - a shame indeed.

I can't see their logic here. Nobody else other than us is likely to be watching these, yet they insist on claiming they are being deprived or losing money from these copyrighted works.

If they released a DRM-free DVD of these worst/best ofs, I would definately buy it. But, they won't!

    That is another shame.

  • @Tokimi989 sorry i meant to vote up on your comment.

  • So whats the story behind these? Did you tape them all yourself?

    Thank you for uploading.
