This style of despenser is amazing. Only problem i have is with my version of minecraft, 1.8....uhmm..the latest one, the detector rails dont detect unmaned carts. Meaning empty carts dont turn the detector rail on when it passes over it. Umm...please assist?
dude this dispenser is fantastic but its buggy as hell, you need a better step by step because we've all built it as your diagram dictates, yet the minecarts get stuck on the first hold position everytime. so either you changed something in the diagram or you need to place it in the correct order......which again you havent told us. can you please post a better and more detailed tutorial VIDEO where you walk around, build it and then test it please
I have tried your design, and I'm quite certain that I've built it correctly, as shown on your imgur-album. However, I'm dealing with a major issue. As soon as a cart travels over one of the topmost detector rails, the associated redstone torch underneath the block that is supposed to power the next piece of booster track burns out and doesn't come on again. As such, the rest of the carts do not follow. Am I doing something wrong, or is it a bug in 1.7.3? I can't seem to figure it out.
Love your design, thank you, BUT pls speak up your mumbling like crazy not everyone is a native english speaker. Makes it hard to understand you sometimes.
I seem to be having a problem. I built my dispenser exact to the photos and for some odd reason the carts won't load. The circuits underneath do nothing when I hit the button to activate the dispenser. Any insight?
took me a while to mount mine cause redstone repeaters were facing random directions, when i got them right everything came to life xD tks for the tutorial(imo the best i found so far, fits like a glove in my mine) and i cant wait for the new ones
I'm yet to demonstrate, but working on a single (2 cart) dispenser I'm seeing odd behavior. Basically, whenever a cart is inserted it will only ever go to the first stopping point, instead of moving up to the second. Also when the final track is triggered, none of the other carts move up in the line.
I suspect this is related to the order in which torches, redstone and repeaters are placed (we all know how difficult they can be) but having tried 4 or 5 different build methods I'm still stuck.
The main problem i'm having with this is the redwire. its not acting how it is supposed to. i've built it exactly how your plans say. and made sure i've got the torches in the right places. but sections of the track just keep doing the opposite to what they are meant to. it either doesn't move the carts up. or it goes crazy and sends the carts flying everywhere. HALP
If anybody is having problems, make sure you put all of the redstone torches down, i did not see the two on the bottom layer of the structure and was fustrated because i could not get it to work. Gool luck.
hey i used this system in my mega station and atm it holds up to 32 carts with an overflow pit, atm i keep it 1/2 full on ~18 carts, it seems when i leave the area/log out one of the powered tracks 1/2 way through (the part of the despenser that does not yet have carts in) decides it would like to be different and turns its self off, there fore not fulling in from the front when i add more carts. if i have to reset it all the time it means re adding all the carts into the system. any ideas?
If you did that would be awesome... I've got a pez dispenser at the moment but this is a much more elegant solution. I was going to message you on reddit too but it's broke at the moment, sorry to clutter your youtube comments.
Any issues with this in SMP? I tried building it on my server and it just doesn't work. I tore the first iteration down and rebuilt it and still no go. It has to do with some redstone torches not firing and powering the powered rail... it seems that if I place redstone torches before other things it will mess it up. I don't use redstone at all so sorry if this is a known issue.
@TheFoxual I recorded this video on a multiplayer server, so, no, that isn't an issue. You might be missing something, although redstone torches do break sometimes, if you have tonnes of them. Lots of people are having trouble building it, so I might make a video.
AWESOME DESIGN! I have been trying to make a dispenser this this for ages. I have been following your image designs but it doesn't seem to be working so could you possible put a video or share your genius world like said from so many other people have ask before me :)
Love this setup! Thanks for sharing. I implemented it into my world... connecting two of them together. At first I had issues connecting them, but it turned out that I was just over-complicating it.
I'm getting inconsistent behavior from it. Some rails seem to get stuck in the off position and don't shift the items behind them up. If I manually place the carts through the system it'll work for a while but eventually things become out of sync. Also the torch that's supposed to light up at the end of the chain signalling a full dispenser doesn't seem to light up. Any ideas?

how can you activate this from a farther place? (Ex: instead of the button being next to the whole thing, the button is like 5 or 6 blocks away from the whole thing)
because mine is going to be so big it needs to come back on its self, so down one side of the room and back the other, how do i connect the 2 ends together?
I'm not quite gathering how you hook the button to release carts up. I followed the instructions on the imgur gallery, but when I hook the button up to what I think is the front, it only turns on a single rail, not the whole system like it's supposed to.
@CheapyPipe The button should only power the front rail, but you need to make sure the detector in front of that rail is there too, as it triggers the change which makes all the others shift up.
But I have a question: When you pushed a cart in the system and there was a gap of 3-4 carts, the new cart has been easily stopped by just one powered rail! When I do this, my cart just keeps accelerating and that one powered rail wont be able to stop it.
BTW, I play on a Multiplayer Server with Bukkit, is it possible, that this is the reason?
@Markazeh That is possible - the new powered rails should not keep adding speed/momentum the way glitch boosters do, so I've come up against no such problems. It may well be a Bukkit problem.
@D3ltra OH MY GOD! Im dumb, sry i had the plugin "CraftbookVehicles"... The config file had parameters like "max-boost-block: 41" "minecart-slow-when-empty: false" etc... Problem solved, thanks anyway for this really nice dispenser ;)
Awesome design. Rebuilt my entire station to utilize v2 last night...now I must tear it all down for v3! Quick question, are the ladders actually doing anything or are they simply there for access?
So if my extrapolation of your work so far is correct, you should be able to get it down to 1x1x1 by V10 :)
Amazing work with this, I wish I wasn't so busy with exams so I could play around with this. For the last section are you using the signal from the latch to the switch or just a straight signal from the detector? I'm a little confused just as to how you RS-NOR latches exactly work. I might just go build it to see.
@Tesseract91 You kid, but I've already come up with a 6x2x4 version! But, it's really unreliable - the distance between the powered rails is right on the verge of being too far, so they don't always make it, and either way the cycle time is too long for my liking. Back to the drawing board!
I've taken a look at quite a few cart dispensing systems and for something in smp I think this is the design I most prefer.
I've just implemented it in single player creative 1.8.1 and it is working just as expected. (also found the way to compact the rs latch to allow the 6x2x4 dimension)
awesome work. ive been trying to replicate this, but im more of an architect rather than an engineer, so ive found it difficult to follow your guide. do you think you can make a "how to build" video for redstone newbs?

Hint to those struggling: The orientation of the redstone repeaters IS IMPORTANT! Follow the pictures exactly and it will work!

@GunGumz Step 1: Put redstone dust replacing where the button is.

Step 3: Hook the redstone up to a button.
