  • Good video! I'm installing a BAK-12 system at PDX in Portland, OR!

  • Shouldnt there be there be another anchor plate near the exit sheave pointing opposite of the direction of the aircraft?

  • Does it come with a Porta-potty?

  • So you put a BAK-12 on wheels and called it a fancy name....still has to be anchored down the same way....I guess it's OK if you can't find a forklift.....

  • Actually, this is the Portarrest PIV mobile system. The PIIJ was a two-wheeled version towed by a fifth wheel tractor. The PIIJ remains in operation, primarily in Japan.

  • Have not seen a perm / semi-perm. installation of a Mobile Aircraft Arresting System (BAK-12) for a while. Brings back memories, thank you for posting

  • Not bad. I couldn't get over how the wheels in the rear are lower and the front are not. How did you get a POV near the MAAS? We had ours certified in Iraq with a taxi engagement.

  • hehe, taxi - pilot need just one hour left to certify that year, rofl...

  • Well, ahh, after you install, you drop the wheels. The rear wheels are on concrete & the MAAS slants down (should be even though). Would be nice to see an incremental install, eh?
