Until about three weeks ago, I had never heard of Jack Buchanon, nor of his talent, style, ability, and--dare I say this as a guy--his handsome looks, until I stumbled across one of his videos late one night. He seemed to exude pure class ( as, many of his stills will attest to ). I loved the song," I don't think you're quite the one I'm looking for"?, and play it frequently. I thoroughly enjoyed his dance numbers. Any info on his bio would be most welcome. Alas, another star graces the heavens.
Britain's answer to Fred Astaire. Go to 30 seconds in and see and hear What A Girl What A Night. This guy came from Helensborough on the Firth of Clyde. An unknown fact is that he rehearsed in Lochranza on the Isle Of Arran - even when he was a Hollywood star. My father witnessed this in Lochranza in 1936 and i am writing a screenplay based on this unknown secret, which I guess is now an open tale for all to guage. Comments and help are welcome. Henry
Great to find this. I wasn't aware of Jack Buchanan until I bought the DVD MonteCarlo to add to my Jeanette MacDonald collection. Now I am on the lookout for more footage because he impressed me so. Thanks for this.
do you have a vid of jack & elsie randolph singing..im in a dancing mood?it was from a film compilation called thats entertainment!had it but video useless now.
Many thanks for this wonderful collection of Jack Buchanan snippets, Aaron1912: you have wonderful taste, and it is so comforting to know that others like this genre as much as I do. Gerry George.
