  • This is a very "deserted" video. =p

  • what kind of guitar is the double neck?

  • @bluehappyscrap

I think it's a Carvin. I believe Craig Chaquico had an endorsement deal with Carvin, and he used to use their amps...I could be wrong, as he used to use B.C. Rich a lot back then as well.

  • Mick, Paul, Grace, terrific lineup!

  • The best line up of Starship here! Dunbar was the icing on the cake for me!

  • I saw Micky in Daytona beach on July 4 95'. He sang Star Spanged Banner! It was over the top!

  • Craig's guitar work is so hot! This line up was incredible with Mickey and Dunbar on drums. Prime rock and roll-period!

  • don't kid yourself, so can Grace Slick (hit the notes) saw them many times in the sixties

  • Brings back memories. My older brother had this 45 and he was Mickey And I was Grace. :-)

    Fun times.

  • Mickey sings "I wish I could go back in time". So true! This song was out when I was in high school and life was so carefree. Thank you for posting this song and letting me take a trip down memory lane.

  • Damn Mickey Thomas can sing!

  • look at about 2:55 on the video to where the other guitarist does a Zizz (however you spell it) jorma (I think that is who it is).. and rolls his eyes.. like he is making a reference to Craig thinking it is sooo cool to do, and making fun of that.. hey,, history bears Craig out.. not you... Zizzzzzzes are way cool..

  • Craig Chaquico is one of the most versitile and talented guitarist and composers to date. Craig and Mickey Thomas clearly reinvented and put back together Jerfferson starship with great compositions like these.

  • Grace has always been underappriciated look at the years w/ Marty Balin !! No Grace singles and she had to fight for the Mike w/ Mickey and that is why she left !

  • @hay1963 I agree, i wish we could go back to 1981, it was so much better then than the mess we are in now.

  • Mickey Thomas sounds just as good live as the recorded version. Impressive.

  • Love it!

  • Since Mic took over as singer, what is Grace's role??? A few words as background?? Maybe they had her just as some wierd sort of thing to connect back to Jefferson Airplane..

Otherwise she just kinda looks stupid up there on stage.. (Mouthing lyrics, a few backup pops, )

MIC, is such a great singer!!!!! He can hit the notes!!

  • @igfyigfy She sang the lead vocals on Stranger which was from the same album.

  • @igfyigfy my thoughts exactly about Grace. I remember seeing these guys in 1982 or 83, as a 14-years old and wondering how tough it must have been for Grace to watch a force of nature like Mickey Thomas hit notes even SHE couldn't hit! Crazy band politics and legacies...

  • @igfyigfy The reason why she looks so out of place is because the band recorded this song without her. She very awkwardly was re-inserted into the band halfway through the recording of the album "Modern Times." My guess is they thought they could sell more records with Slick in the videos, as without her, Starship looked and sounded like watered-down Toto and Journey.

  • This was the kick azz version of this band that I loved...

  • I loved "Fridays" when I was a kid! ... so much less pretentious then SNL.

    thanks for posting

  • @shawno66 me too, fridays was a great show, and great musical guests, kiss was awesome on there, did a super version of the oath, and i, way better than the album, aces guitar sounded so great,

  • Pete Sears is awesome....totally under the radar and just phenomenal.

  • Super cool!

  • Haven't seen Mickey Thomas since I took him all over Maui in 1976 when he was lead singer for Elvin Bishop

  • I think this version of the Jefferson Starship is the strongest line-up. This is definately live, Craig has a few clunker notes in there.

  • This is the last version of Jefferson Airplane/ Jefferson Starship/ Starship that I paid any attention to. In fact, I saw this tour. It was outstanding, and Grace was still in full throttle "White Rabbit" capability. When the "We Built This City" days began, there was very little to cheer for. Whe they seemed to be trying to put out the theme song for that year's NCAA Tournament w/ crapola like "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now," or "It's Not Over Till It's Over," I was gone! Shameful finish.

  • good song, and damn I miss Fridays. I always thought Fridays smoked SNL by far

  • Another masterpiece, untouched by the masses. It was right there in front of them to ruin this song, fortunately they left it alone. I love Grace too; we're high on life!

  • you can get a program called dvd video soft, there's a program to download videos, plus you can put them on your ipod, it's free..

  • how do I download this to my computer?

  • Download the latest Real player from real-dot-com. They have a new download function for 'capturing' web video. Good luck!

  • This is my favorite performance of this song!

  • Never seen this before. So nice to see a band actually playing live on TV instead of lip sync'ing. Mickey Thomas was such a good singer, and this is all real -- Auto-Tune and Pro Tools didn't exist back in 1981.

    Thanks for posting.
