What will destroy marriage: a husband or wife that is having an affair, or new neighbors who are gay? What destroys families more: a divorce, or new neighbors who are gay? to clarify... let the gay couples enjoy the same benefits as married couples in this country. If a particular religion or denomination refuse to allow marriage between a gay couple because they dont believe in it, then let them refuse. Some other church will recognize them, and if not, they can go to a government courthouse and they could elope and be considered married and enjoy the same benefits as married couples. Keep state and church separate!

What will destroy marriage: a husband or wife that is having an affair, or new neighbors who are gay? What destroys families more: a divorce, or new neighbors who are gay? Marriage is a union of two people who love eachother and wish to spend their lives together. A gay couple can have that same love for eachother as a straight couple.
I think a distinction should be made between state-recognized marriage and church-recognized marriage.
At a state level, let them enjoy the same benefits.
