My H3 got rear ended by a ranger once and left scratchless. I backed into a pole another time and destroyed the rear end of my H3. I guess it depends on the crash. I'm a terrible driver and I've put the H3 through so much. Rear ended my astro, bent the chrome step up bar on the side off-roading. It's been pretty good so far and all I've had is an issue with my electric seat adjusters.
@underoathfan14 They do fine but I wouldn't recommend an automatic if you're going to be doing it. I think if you're looking for offroad I'd stick with a 2 door wrangler. Those are the most efficient.
@FusionBoy2010 The brand was killed for politics. Do the math. GM was taken over by the Congress, which was owned by the Democrats, which are owned by the Socialists, which are using the environmental scare to take more control in this country. They have used the Hummer brand as a scape goat for years to focus the hate of their followers on. My H3 got around 20 mpg stock, which is better than most trucks, vans and some cars. Coincidence the brand was killed after the election? I think not.
@FusionBoy2010 I drive a 2008 H3 Alpha. A month ago, I was hit directly from behind by a 2000 Grand Prix. The car was a total loss, my Hummer had a dented license plate, jammed muffler that popped right back out, and a broken screw on my rear view camera, and that was it. The front of the car was folded up. From experience, the H3 is extremely capable offroad, I wheel mine a lot. Using your logic, the only real jeep is the original military jeep, the only real truck is the Model T.
@FusionBoy2010 Wrong. Your information is incorrect. The only similarities that the H2 has with the Tahoe, or the H3 has with the Colorado, is the frame. Even those frames have been highly modified before they were used on Hummers. They added extra crossmembers, better welding and attached the tow hooks directly to the frame. The rest of the Hummers parts are unique to Hummers. The rating was still good, 5/5 and 4/5. The Hummer brand was targeted politically for the global warming scam.
@roozie11 LOL. I'm sure I'm going to get a Prius. I had an H2 hummer and averaged 18 MPG. Just don't drive like a moron. If I had to do it all over again I would drop the Turbodiesel into the H.2. Get near 650HP, almost 30MPG on the highway, and still beat the crap out of your econobox prius...
@roozie11 I'm all for saving the planet, but let's be honest. There are still a lot of people that want a vehicle for the performance aspects. And with the tech that has come about since 2008 you can manage a 500 horsepower car and still get over 25 MPG. As great as a Prius is as far as its MPG, it's an ugly piece of plastic with no power. I'll take the FT-86 in the corner, please. Red.
@roozie11 You are completely wrong in your statement. Hummer H3 get nearly 20 stock. A couple of simple engine mods can push that into the mid-20s. Not bad for its class. Your Prius is actually worse for the environment than the Hummer. Do some homework on where and how your battery is made. Is your MPG savings worth your life in a crash? How about your family's lives?
@roozie11 Strange, you're "facts' don't match anyone else's, including the manufacturer's stats. A stock H3 gets around 20mpg from the factory floor. A Prius is actually worse for the environment because of its battery. It is literally made all over the world (using fuel to transport the parts) and then is an extremely hazardous material that needs special disposition at the end of its life. Hummers don't have that.
@jkguitarfreak95 lmfao, no, i mean i love GM, them and land rover, they really are my only 2 favorites when it comes down to it, but this is not, how the h1 was built, or how cars were back in the day when cars were made out of steel and for pride of making the car, not for money, thats how a car should be built, but i do agree in a way, this was not that bad considering what could have been.
Some poor guy in a Ranger rear-ended me during slippery conditions today. It scratched the plastic on my bumper and now I'm soooo sad. :C MY POOR BABY!!!
But on the other hand, that poor Ford got a new makeover, front bumper smashed to pieces, lights demolished, the grille imploded, everything was obliterated.
Now was it birthday karma? Or is it just a HUMMER thing? I think it is both.
Wow cassarolez, Really? Do you live inside the box that is your room.. Have you even taken the barely college courses that you have to take for Big Boy School? Do you even have a basic understanding of what you talk about? Answer this.. and you get a cookie.. From your mom... After she holds the can underneath your ass so you can shit... Playing WoW.
I am living proof that the Hummer H3 is one of the best SUVs to have if you are concerned with safety. I guarantee you that you will come out without a scratch with the maximum being a minor injury.
@dagger197 hummer is car made to drive in a line of tanks and be able to go through grounds where only tanks were able to go. its not made to hold another 2 ton SUV going against it (but its made to carry 5 marines over anti tank mine). dunno how about H2 or H3.
@dagger197 actually the h3 is the worst the h1 and 2 hold up very well, the h2 is only on a 3/4 ton frame, but everybody says they are terrible for wrecks, that is a lie just go to coparts.com and look at the wrecked hummers, alot of the crumpled up ones have taken serious hits, and the h1 is a different kind of vehicle that just drives through anything,
@tacodude20 a safe vehicle can't be described by a vehicle that "holds up " in a wreck, you can't tell how safe a vehicle is by just looking at it after the crash. A vehicle that has a very ridged structure is a hazzard to other vehicles on the road and thus is a very dangerous vehicle, on top of that if the vehicle doesn't crush because it's so ridged, the occupants are at risk of injury due to severe decelleration forces.
@dagger197 if you crash it into a wall thats different but when driving into other cars is not so much a big deal.. i have a h2 and i got rear end once and the person who hit me his car was totaled.. and no scratch were on my car...
look at that.nothin really happened.always trust american made vehicles. ohh,and for the people about polllution, every car does it,and we all shouldnt go for some stupid imported car. its called keeping the money over here.
What an intelligent statement. Here's something you probably didn't know, because little of the energy from the crash is absorbed by the body (evident by how intact it is), quite a bit more goes to the passengers than it would in more sensible vehicles.
By the way, our nation's health is crippling due to pollution from SUVs like Hummers. Shhhh.
That doesn't change that they are big contributor. If the only people who bought/drove SUVs were people who needed them for what they can do, then there'd still be much less pollution.
Plus, factories can clean up the way they dispose of and use chemicals whereas a gas car will always pollute. They can be converted to PHEVs and EVs, but very few SUV owners will actually do this.
in our materialistic society those who can afford "bigger & flashier" will tend to do so, whether it be suvs/houses. much of these things are excess and most people don't tend to care if they waste and pollute. if they did, there would be many more smaller fuel eficient cars/trucks and people wouldn't waste as much electricity as they do. as far as our nations health crippling due to that pollution, I didn't know that obesity was caused by pollution but thanks for letting me know.
Well of course people who can afford bigger and flashier are going to go that direction. That's the only reason GM made them, because they knew that people who want big, flashy cars would go for them. This doesn't change that they shouldn't go for them, which is the point I'm making.
And when did I ever say that obesity had to do with pollution?
you guys need to calm down most big suv and trucks being built by gm and ford and some dodge today have v8s that convert to run on 4 cyl. ill agree my v8 hogs gas im not rich so i only get to drive it when i go riding but if i had them money i probably still wouldnt drive it bc i have a cobalt that gets triple the gas mileage
Stop trying to be a smart ass. All the SUV's combined cause less pollution than all the small cars such as sedans, Priuses, etc. People buy SUV's because on a long road trip a 6-seat car is much more comfortable for a family of 4 than a 5 or 4 seat sedan.
I guessing you don't know very many of the facts do you? It has been proven that the making, using, and disposing of a Toyota Prius (don't worry I'm not bashing Toyota I love the FJ Cruisers) pollutes the environment more than the making, using, and disposing of Hummers whether it be a H1, 2, or 3. Don't trust everything Obama and his Democrats tell you.
I'm guessing you have hard time understanding what people say. Was I talking about Hummer at all? And what Obama and Democrats have to do with all this anyways?
Uh yeah you were and I quote "our nation's health is crippling due to pollution from SUVs like HUMMERS" and then you said "Our nation health is crippling from food of very POOR quality (and lots of it) and high cost of MEDICAL CARE". Now I may be wrong and correct me if I am, but I'm guessing you support Obama's socialist takeover because you said our medical care costs a lot of money which it doesn't if people would work. Plus he pushes all of that false information about pollution as well.
I do support Obama. I own medical billing and whole my family is in medical field. I have no doubts that your knowledge of the subject is close to ZERO. The 'cow' pollution information was available before Obama.
Again, learn to read before shouting your mouth off - 'SUVs like Hummers' were the words of @videoCWK that I replied to. Looking at my page will give you a tip about me and Hummers. The real Hummers - not Hummer wanna be...
Well then I'm sorry at least you are not like half of the youtubers on here who come back with nothing but namecalling. I hope you will come to your senses soon and realize that Obama is slowly ruining what our nation was built upon. I too have family in the medical field and they say that if the bill was passed that most of them wouldn't serve as many patients as they do now because it would cost them more money to do so. Again I'm sorry I didn't know you were quoting somebody else.
I hardly see that Obama ruining anything except having hard time to recover what was destroyed by the dumbest president in US history. Our country was NOT built upon pushing papers and borrowing money from China. Obama did NOT sent millions of MANUFACTURING jobs overseas. Bill is not passed yet but insurances raised the rates and cut the benefits since New Years. That means - your relatives simply not going to have patients. Get reality check...
Well, whether you believe me or not its happening. It is hard to recover from what a democratic house of representatives and congress did I know, but I think if he gets voted out in 2012 then I think we can turn around all of the bad that may happen between now and then. I can't help, but notice that every time Obama's plan fails he blames Bush even though all Americans should know that he couldn't have done it if the democrats in congress and the house didn't let him. I HAD faith in Obama.
Blaming it on Bush again. Do you know the checks and balances system? No? Well then look it up. Anyways I'm not going to waste anymore time trying to convince you as you said. You will see eventually.
Funny thing - it is you who blame Obama for Bush crap. Did economy crushed with Obama? Did he started Iraq? Did Obama gave banks free money and overblow the real estate? Guess not.
No, that is common sense to understand. Obama keeps blaming Bush for the failures of all of his plans. Well, you know what Bush isn't president anymore Obama is and he continues to blame Bush for Obama's failures. It is on Obama now not Bush's past plans. He said he would fix it with his plans and I see no progress yet and I see no future for progress and as I said with the checks and balances system that none of this would've happened unless the democratic congress and house said it could.
Also Bush didn't send the jobs overseas and across the border Clinton did. Yes, that does mean that my relatives will have to spend much more money to treat patients. They will have patients, but they will not be able to treat them.
Oh and I do believe that the H3 not the H2 could be just as capable off road as the H1 although I do love both of them. The H3 does have the size and weight advantage over the H1, but the H1 does have the ground clearance and power advantages.
Maybe not, but what I stated is true the H3 is much less wider than the H3 allowing it to go through tighter segments of the trail. The H3 also weighs less so it will not get stuck as far in mud as a H1 would. I do wish I could find a Rubi Unlimited for my price range, but for some reason they don't exist within 100 miles of my hometown or I would definitely get one, but there is a 2006 Hummer H3 for $18k so that is what I more than likely will be settling with. Lets keep peace please and quit.
Whatever you want to believe I know the truth and you don't. I mean it is simple to understand that less width equals tighter spaces, tighter turning radius, etc. and lighter weight equals less pressure on the ground. Lets stop filling the comments board with senseless discussion when its obvious neither of us will accept defeat.
Yes, I know what CTIS means. It is the self-inflating tires on the H1. Yes, the H1 has a smaller turning radius than the H3, but the H1 is two times as much more expensive and the H3 turning radius is suitable for what it does anyways. Once again maybe you'll get it this time lets just agree to disagree and support our fellow Hummer owners and guide those who are looking to buy a Hummer.
There is absolutely nothing wrong not being able to afford H1 but it's also not the reason to post nonsense. H2 and H3 share nothing with H1 but the name. I give GM thumbs up for knowing market and banking on H1 reputation.
I have absolutely nothing against H3 (even H2) but would never buy neither.
I have nothing against Obama being African-American. I just have a problem with his political beliefs. I have many African-American friends I'll have you know.
If our economy was in better shape - Obama would never won. And I would never believe in his agenda. But reality clearly shows that capitalism has to be controlled.
@zrvpvo8789 A good thing really. As an Australian observer, I've noticed that free market capitalism DOES need rules. The kind of rules that if you break them, you'll be spending at lot of time in Club Fed for breaking the law. Every 20 years or so, the "free market" of Wall St. drags the world into another crash. Obviously each new generation learns nothing from its predecessors, so it should be forced to by law
Good point. This is like people's idea of safety in the 50's. We look back and realize it's ridiculous, as a car that can stay perfectly the same after an accident is often less safe (you want the body to crumple and divert the energy), but people still do it now.
Lots of people, actually. Especially all the folks who have permanent lung deformations and other permanent problems because they grew up in heavily polluted areas.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
my uncles right. the prius isn't that "eco" friendly. what do you do with all the battery chemicals when the batterys go bad? hmm. hummer gets good gas mileage for it's size. better than most suvs and pickups
There are actually little valid sources for that. The batteries are recyclable. Additionally, even if it gets good mileage "for it's size," that doesn't mean it gets good mileage.
I like how it almost rolls over from a side hit. I saw an older Nissan Maxima hit a full-size Chevy truck in the side like this test. It flipped the truck on it's roof.
My H3 got rear ended by a ranger once and left scratchless. I backed into a pole another time and destroyed the rear end of my H3. I guess it depends on the crash. Get reality check...
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
Well, whether you believe me or not its happening. It is hard to recover from what a democratic house of representatives and congress did I know, but I think if he gets voted out in 2012 then I think we can turn around all of the bad that may happen between now and then. I can't help, but notice that every time Obama's plan fails he blames Bush even though all Americans should know that he couldn't have done it if the democrats in congress and the house didn't let him. I HAD faith in Obama.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
What democratic? We recovering from idiot Bush - republican. Clinton left surplus. Bush years sent us into disaster. Spare your time convincing me...
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
Blaming it on Bush again. Do you know the checks and balances system? No? Well then look it up. Anyways I'm not going to waste anymore time trying to convince you as you said. You will see eventually.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
Funny thing - it is you who blame Obama for Bush crap. Did economy crushed with Obama? Did he started Iraq? Did Obama gave banks free money and overblow the real estate? Guess not.
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago

The H3 does have the size and weight advantage over the H1, but the H1 does have the ground clearance and power advantages.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
Something tells me that 'off-road' subject is not your best.
The only advantage H3 has over H1 - making people who can't afford decent 4x4 feel good.
Nobody in right mind will buy H3 when bit more money will buy you Rubicon Unlimited.
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
Maybe not, but what I stated is true the H3 is much less wider than the H3 allowing it to go through tighter segments of the trail. The H3 also weighs less so it will not get stuck as far in mud as a H1 would. I do wish I could find a Rubi Unlimited for my price range, but for some reason they don't exist within 100 miles of my hometown or I would definitely get one, but there is a 2006 Hummer H3 for $18k so that is what I more than likely will be settling with. Lets keep peace please and quit.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
No offense but you don't have a slight clue what you talking about whether it's a tighter trail or mud. I doubt you ever even drove in mud.
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
Whatever you want to believe I know the truth and you don't. I mean it is simple to understand that less width equals tighter spaces, tighter turning radius, etc. and lighter weight equals less pressure on the ground. Lets stop filling the comments board with senseless discussion when its obvious neither of us will accept defeat.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
If you had a slight clue about off-road, you would know that it's not the weight - it's pound per square inch. Do you know what CTIS means?
Smaller vehicle does NOT translates into smaller turning radius by default genius. H1 turning radius is 12 foot smaller then H3.
Has it ever occur to you that person talking about H1 on youtube may actually drive H1? For years...
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
Yes, I know what CTIS means. It is the self-inflating tires on the H1. Yes, the H1 has a smaller turning radius than the H3, but the H1 is two times as much more expensive and the H3 turning radius is suitable for what it does anyways. Once again maybe you'll get it this time lets just agree to disagree and support our fellow Hummer owners and guide those who are looking to buy a Hummer.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
Actually H1 5 times more expensive then H3.
There is absolutely nothing wrong not being able to afford H1 but it's also not the reason to post nonsense. H2 and H3 share nothing with H1 but the name. I give GM thumbs up for knowing market and banking on H1 reputation.
I have absolutely nothing against H3 (even H2) but would never buy neither.
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
I have nothing against Obama being African-American. I just have a problem with his political beliefs. I have many African-American friends I'll have you know.
kamikazeevil 2 years ago
If our economy was in better shape - Obama would never won. And I would never believe in his agenda. But reality clearly shows that capitalism has to be controlled.
zrvpvo8789 2 years ago
@zrvpvo8789 A good thing really. As an Australian observer, I've noticed that free market capitalism DOES need rules. The kind of rules that if you break them, you'll be spending at lot of time in Club Fed for breaking the law. Every 20 years or so, the "free market" of Wall St. drags the world into another crash. Obviously each new generation learns nothing from its predecessors, so it should be forced to by law

By the way, pollution from farming cows ( read - the burgers that you eat) dwarfs pollution by SUV's etc.. Get educated...

Good point. This is like people's idea of safety in the 50's. We look back and realize it's ridiculous, as a car that can stay perfectly the same after an accident is often less safe (you want the body to crumple and divert the energy), but people still do it now.
videoCWK 2 years ago
Lots of people, actually. Especially all the folks who have permanent lung deformations and other permanent problems because they grew up in heavily polluted areas.

my uncles right. the prius isn't that "eco" friendly. what do you do with all the battery chemicals when the batterys go bad? hmm. hummer gets good gas mileage for it's size. better than most suvs and pickups
